I would suggest music with more pep for routines.

Who's the first guy in 30 sec shred? He looks and plays a bit like Lon, though not Lon.

That would be Reid Strellner (exudedex).

I didn't go to the competitions, but it was around 15 or so players .. maybe a bit more. Small tourney(?)

that was a huge room.

it seemed like there were a lot of people there at the time. and there were some people missing during the comp (went swimming in the lake).

but i guess its not that many compared to how many are going to nyj.

That's Benny Kellman in the red shorts, an awesome routine player. Has tons of long strings in shred as well, and lots of unique tricks, and hes one hell of net player.
