mislead the public eye on what freestyle is, what true footbag is...

That's despictable.
it seems pretty obvious from what he's writing that he truly beleives that bloughchi is "true footbag".

The guy is a wanker but I hardly think he has had any impact at all on making footbag bigger or smaller and in fact he's sponsored a lot of events and probably given more money and prizes to footbag events than anybody apart from freedom footbags (and maybe planet foobag I guess). In fact I'd say he's probably done more postive work for footbag than the vast majority of freestylers and at least he involves himself with the sport beyond just playing.

No Jeremy, we're talking about Steve Blough, not Steve Goldberg. :P

I find your opinion to be vastly overshadowed by the facts.

1. He's hogging many domains, one of which is footbag.com, making it more difficult for people to find out what the sport of footbag is really all about.

2. He's an egomaniac as Ken stated, at least from his interviews and website.

3. His website is EXTREMELY misleading, and in the end is only a series of shops where he sells footbags that are counter-productive to his philosophy of the sport.

Even if his intentions were good, which we all know they're not, he's obviously doing more harm than good. I went to footbag.com when I first started. It mislead me. Did it stop me from playing footbag? No, because I had others I was playing with at the time, one of which was pretty knowledgable about freestyle footbag.

Has it mislead others and prohibited them from learning about the sport we play? Yes. Just look at Alec Oroza's post earlier in the thread. He said that the site portrayed footbag as something he wasn't interested in, and moved on. He didn't discover footbag until years later.

Heck, I myself may have found out about freestyle footbag long before, had the footbag.com been run by the right people. Maybe millions more people would have seen footbag for what it is, and I would have heard about it through every day life.

But for you to sit back and say that his actions are completely benign is foolish, and unless you're playing devil's advocate, then you are also being mislead.

Yes I realise that. www.footbag.com often sponsors events. There are no "blougchi" events - all the events they sponsor are either net or freestyle events. He's been sponsoring events for years - including a lot of world championship events.

I'm sorry, I can't debate this further without getting sick to my stomach. The way he describes freestyle in his 'What is Freestyle Footbag?' article is silly and false.

Even if he does sponsor net events, it doesn't give him a hall pass to misrepresent freestyle. The funny thing is, why does he do it? There's obviously a malicious or selfish motive involved, or he would simply acknoledge true freestyle footbag and represent it accordingly. It's sales is all it is. He doesn't want to give up his precious footbag.com market.

And so what if he sponsors net events? You think he's doing it to give back to the community? Again, he's attracting more sales. Players may think about buying net bags at his site. Although I can't imagine that there are net players who would do so.

Sponsors can be great, and do a lot of good for sports. But don't think just because they're giving something away doesn't mean they aren't getting something back. They give tons of stuff away. It's the cost of advertising.

Lol yeah I guess I needed to make one more point about it. That it's sales, not 'doing a lot for the footbag community'. You're really fooling yourself if you believe that.

Wow, this is dejavu.

Wow, that's a really bizarre contradiction for him to sponsor freestyle events.

It looks like this Blough guy just likes to play Hacky Sack, and some very stylish hacky sack at that.

He's just a good hacky player, trying to make some money. He's no worse, or better than the rest of us.
It's ridiculous that you think he does not deserve the Footbag.com domain name. There's more to footbag than Shred... He likes consecutives, and he does hit some freestyle stricks (flying clipper, TRIPLE spins, etc) He's old skool, so what? He can probably spank all of us in a Consecutives contest.

I don't know about you, but I've been in the situation where the only possible kick I could do to save the bag was a Gigantic, over-extended, highly-precarious outside kick. I've just never had the misfortune(?) of someone taking a picture at that point in time.

Besides, if he sponsors events, he can't be that bad. Now you're here bashing him... Biting the hand that feeds, no?

You guys don't get it

He's not some circle kicker turned mystical ball player from 1997

He's an old school kicker whose form of freestyle is that stupid kicking

World's committees used to despise shredding-the BAP'ers were badasses going against the norms of Boughchi

He's just out of date

That 'stupid kicking' is The fundamental building-block of footbag freestyle. It's also fun, and a good way to warm up.

It's true. He's so old-skool, it's not even funny.

I don't think the fact that he talks bad about freestyle and then sponsors it makes him more respectable. I think it makes him even more of a hypocrite. ie, less respectable.

I think this was Jeremy's main point...Just another almost daily reminder that J thinks he and a select few are the only ones "doing" anything for this sport

I read his articles on Freestyle, and basically it says that his style is Freestyle (It's true. He just doesn't dex often.)

It does Not Say "Shredding fucking sucks and is for losers," Or any such thing. He advocates the social aspect, and one-upping one's self, rather than competing and regulating others.

I don't see what the problem is. He has a different style and philosophy than you. So what? This thread, with the almost clever title, is pointless. POINTLESS.

I would've voted 'yes' on the poll, but that wasn't an option. The original post points out that he's trying to save the bag... Just ridiculous. Basically you're telling me... "I hate this guy that i've never met because here's a pic of him trying to save the bag. lololololol."

Judge not lest ye be judged!
