Yeah, I thought most of the surging sets in this vid were worse than usual. He has good days, and bad days. That said, I don't think many/any players in the world have super clean surging sets all of the time. Felix does lots of surging which is iffy. The only real clean surges I've seen have been by chad on lions den, and by Takumi in person. I'd say takumi cleans them about 40-50% of the time, which is a good percentage compared to most people.

I wonder when this video was shot. I found it overall enjoyable, but I would have liked a bit more variety in the runs, and more left toe. Takumi is definitely the man.

he does some really cool and fun moves, i like that. good video.

the one thing i think seperates this kid from others like felix and vasek is that he does many different moves in his runs, felix especially (from what i have seen) is very repetative, sure its amazing, but it is also boring. thats just my opinion.

Word sam. Takumi is good, but he is much more repetetive than vasek or felix. Thats just a matter of not playing as long, and not being able to do the same stuff. For example, takumi didnt use his left toe once in this video EDIT: i looked again and he used it twice [stepping op legover and xbody rake](i think) and vasek and felix are fairly both sided and can hit so much shit.

takumi might not be the best in the world yet, but he owns everyone in the cuteness department

Good video though. I really liked it, except for the size

LOL!!!!!!!!

Nice vid, I always love to see new footage of Takumi. He still has that very, very smooth style which I love.

I haven't seen many vids of Felix, but what I have seen of Vasek is amazingly both-sided. Ken is right in the fact that Takumi needs to use his left toe more.

Actually I think that has got to go in the running for worst noob comment too... as if Ken doesn't make a big enough commotion on these forums to be noticed!!

EDIT:

Sorry I should also say, this video is very awesome :) I love how you include the funny moments that happen when you shred with Takumi! He seems like a really cool guy :)

Awesome shred, awesome edit, can't say much about themusic because I haven't seen it with sound yet! (need to get home to do that!)

Several thoughts:

1. Felix and Vasek have much more variety. That said, they have been playing much longer than Takumi (3 years or so).

2. Felix is one of Takumi's favorite players. Several of the tricks he does on this video are directly inspired by felix, like all the whirling inside kick stuff.

3. Takumi is Japanese. I am half-Japanese, have lived in Japan, and speak Japanese, but do not consider myself to be Japanese. The rest of the Japanese players don't consider me to be Japanese either. That said, I compete for Team Japan, and the rest of Team Japan considers me as Team Japan, for several reasons I won't go into here.

4. Takumi is generally considered to be the best Japanese player, though a case could be made for Kenzo Ogawa (more variety, more bothsided). In terms of pure shred, Takumi and Kenzo are likely the 2 best, and then the next 3 or 4 slots are pretty close (Morii, Henmo, and probably still Otayan).

5. Takumi doesn't use his left toe much in his shred, but that isn't to say that he can't. He can hit rubberman, he holds the Japanese record for atom smashers ( 8 ), I've seen him come close to legbeater-surge repeat, etc. My last session with him, I teased him about his left toe, and he hit a run with smear-dimwalk bsos, fear bsos, and a few more toe tricks both sides. He can do left toe stuff, he just needs to work on incorporating them more.

6. There is another young player in Tokyo, Tamura-kun, who is 14 or so, and is on the rise. He is sometimes called Takumi II. He and takumi are the next generation of Japanese shred. Tamura may come to rival Tak in the cuteness department.

cool vid, but it's 70 MG and only 3,5 min, you need better compression.

ken, takumi's been playing for 3 years, right ? i thought he's been playing for 2 years, max.

I think Alex Urano considers himself Japanese - he may well be a Japanese citizen too.

Cool video, definitely the topic where somebody says only smooth stylie players live in North America is wrong.

I agree the surge sets are unclean but I have come to think that all surging sets at best are wraping frigid osis pixie sets (frozen set?).

I agree that Vasek has no variety. Apart from moves involving legovers, mirages, pickups, illusions, clippers, whirls, osis, butterflies, drifters, torques, benders, symp mirages, flails, symp whirls, double downs, symp double downs, eggbeaters, dlos symp eggbeaters, symp dlos, swirls, butterfly swirls, whirling swirls, reverse swirls, double down swirls, ducking, spinning, double spinning, spinning ducking, inspinning, stepping, pixie, quantum, atomic, nuclear, fairy, phasing, swirling stepping, swirling barraging, barraging, symp barraging, symp barraging nuclear, symp barraging quantum, symp quantum and pixie quantum he really doesn't have very much that he can do. It's probably his biggest weakness.
