i think its funny that josh rose actually posted this topic... ill explain.
i went to the midwest regionals with brian and stayed at zekes. the second i step out of the car this is what i hear...
josh to me: those arent lavers
me: i dont footbag yet
josh to brian: right on, you brought her to cook
...about 10 minutes later...
josh: i eat bitches for breakfast
now, i didnt find that offensive... even though a couple people that heard him say the cooking thing think i should have been offended. i wasnt offended because i didnt come to cook... i came to have fun. not to mention josh ended up cooking during the weekend. those pancakes were dank.
and i didnt get pissed off about him saying bitch because, well, im not a bitch and i dont have to worry about being devoured in the mornings.
on other words like fag and the n word. i say them both. i have friends that are fags and i have friends that are n words. if someone gets pissed because i say something derogitory then they can either stay pissed or they can understand that i dont mean it in a mean way. i only really say those words when im joking around.
btw southpark kicks ass. yall should watch season 5 with the shit episode... mr garison explains who can say fag and who cant.
It's real easy to act tolerant and pacifistic on the internet, and say things like "I eat bitches for breakfast" in real life, after just implying that women were only good for cooking. Then he comes on here and calls me a bigot for saying fag and nigger in joke.

I think context is imporant. If you're with friends who know you and you're joking around you can say whatever you want. I have no doubt that I have said things that could be portrayed as racist or sexist in that context, but the people I'm speaking with understand that I'm joking and that I'm saying those things in a bad attempt to be funny and not because I actually think them. Very often I make racist comments about the Japanese - which is not because I dislike the Japanese, infact half my family is from Japan and I consider myself Japenese but I'm just being ironic and usually quoting my favourite book (American Psycho) where some of the characters sometimes complain about the Japanese. I think on a public forum with people I don't know personally it would be entirely inappropriate for me to voice those same opinions. I remember once on this forum when I wrote a long post about how I agreed with the war in Iraq and although plenty of people knew I was joking, I still had to defend and explain myself - which destroys any humour that my original post may have had (unlikely that there was any humour anyway). I think it's best to avoid saying offensive comments that could be taken seriously with people you don't know.
Like the other day when I was watching the news with my father in law and all the Lebanon stuff was happening and he was like "I think Hitler was onto something with the whole killing the jews thing". If he'd said it during the sport it would have been totally inappropriate...
