Mad about sweet flying sets? I think not.

Bashing on Steve Blough, or anyone, is totally immature. Those that are dissing him are just jumping on the band-wagon, because they saw the Blough banner. By reading their posts, it is obvious to me they have not graduated from High School.

Steve Blough is an Awesome footbag player that can bust out some crazy kicks from behind him, without looking, after triple spins, and beat all of our consecutive records with ease. He reminds me of Gary Lautt. I don't see you guys bashing on Lautt... Blough's style is fuckin' sweet, very smooth, and unique.

Nowhere does he bash freestyle, or any freestylers. He just likes to kick a footbag, in fun, smooth, and interesting ways. He's obviously very spiritual, and in tune with his body.

The people who are bashing this footbag master/vietnam vet/guy that's not here to defend himself, obviously have issues of their own they should be dealing with.

He definitely seems like a unique guy. I just can't understand how Bloughchi would be as spirtually uplifting as he makes it out to be. It really seems pretty simple

Worlds 2003 - is the only event I can name off the top of my head but when I actually delt with the the bloughchi I remember being told that they try to sponsor one major event every year. I think they sponsored worlds 2001 and 2002 and also a big euro event in 2004 but I am in no way certain of that.

Regarding Chris' comments about sponsorship - I think it's important to remember that major footbag events need sponsors. Worlds has a budget of between $50,000 and $100,000 and really that is tiny compared with most events. My brother organised a school debating camp with a budget over $200,000. We need sponsors regardless of what they get out of it. Without sponsors our major events would not be anywhere near as good as they are. It's also my feeling that the vast majority of people in the footbag "business" who sponsor events do so because they are big fans of footbag -that's why they're in the business too. Considering how little money there is in footbag, people who go into business in footbag don't do it to get rich - surely the main focus is because they love footbag. Steve Blough is a very hard person to work with and has a very warped view of footbag but I doubt he sponsors events just for the money. It was interesting how you focused on the fact that he sponsors net events but didn't mention the freestyle events...

I actually missed that part in your post. I must've had some block against it because I couldn't fathom him sponsoring a freestyle event, since he doesn't consider what we do freestyle footbag. If you think about my last statement, it's a bizarre contradiction as Jamieson pointed out.

Wow, this is getting to be a serious discussion about Freestyle Footbag! Maybe we should move this to General Footbag forum where it belongs. Care to do the honors Jeremy? Lol.

yes but if he only sent some crapy footbags, like a sponsor of my one event I hosted, the sponsorship is basicaly useless, save giving some crapy footbags to some new players who will quite in frustration. however if he did give some money, well shoot, he's cool in my books, except for everything in print on his site.

Well, "fairly sure" leaves room for being completely wrong.

The year that Ryan Mulroney was flown in for NZ champs, he used a Stalling Star footbag for his routine. I asked him about it at Worlds 03, and he said: "yeah, I used it for exactly 2 minutes total. I did my routine with it, then threw it away." So he pretty much only did it for sponsorship money, but was surprised when the photo of him appeared on footbag.com so prominently.

Jeremy, I just want you to know there is no shame in admitting when you are wrong. Nobody likes being wrong, but we all occasionally make mistakes. Being able to accept this fact, and being able to gracefully admit when we are wrong, is a valuable social skill. There's no inherent shame in admitting a mistake; everybody does it. I think your competitive nature leads to you seeing everything as a challenge with "winners" and "losers." Not everything is zero-sum.

In Mike's post he said he remembered Ryan using a Stalling Star in his routine at an Australian event. Forgive him the fact that he confused Australia and NZ, a lot of people do. But your next post clearly was a direct refutation of his. Your aggressive tone, combined with the fact that your refutation was completely wrong, led to my last post. Sorry if I offended you. Did Ryan use a different bag in Shred30? Yes. Ah ha! Jeremy wins! But wait, Mike claimed it was in routines, and Ryan did use a Stalling Star in routines... but wait, did he use it in semis? No! I found a technical loophole, which doesn't in fact refute Mike's claim, but its a small enough technicality that...

How hard is it to admit you are wrong and let it go? It's like lawyers combing the fine print. I'm bringing up this pointless argumentative tendency of yours not just because of this one thread, but rather because I see it in many of your posts. It's OK to be wrong sometimes in the big picture, it's OK to let little things go sometimes, you don't have to fight every little thing or always play devil's advocate.

is agressive but Ken hates me because I tried to transfer some money into his bank account and he didn't give me the right details so it bounced and I took took half of the fee out of the money so he will always give me these labels as a way of discrediting me.

I sometimes hate the footbag internet community.
I won't be browsing the Kicking Circle anymore, basically because it's crap. It used to be funny, now half of the posts are made by people who probably spend a lot more time on modified than playing footbag.
