) I love getting big air when I hack or play squares but for some reason it never translates well into net. Air Grom is THE MAN!

Long net session today, from 12:45 'til' 8 PM. Played very well, tons of spikes, and learned a new spike-ish kick for net, but was unable to hit it in the actual games/. Its called a "shi'tah."

So tonight at about 12:45AM until 2:15AM, with RunAmok, I took my new

out for a spin for the first time. It is a Scion tC, series release 2.0, #2536 of 2600 in Blue Blitz Mica. It was sweet and pretty fast. It is a manual and Im just learning how to drive it! That's why I was driving zround at 1-2 AM on the backroads of my town . . . no traffic. Anyway, it was super cool, and I'm glad EJ was there to share the experience. I have to learn to feather the clutch and to hold the clutch at the "contact point" when Im changing from neutral to 1st and from 1st to 2nd.

Manual is the way to go. You'll really love it once you get the hang of it. I'm a stick fanboy, I can't stand driving automatics.

The new ride looks awesome, congrats! Take care of that bad boy, change the oil on time, keep the fluids in check and enjoy.

yeah had a great joyride last night. im pretty sure we cought air right before the cops tryed to keep up with us. then jeremy was like "LUDa cris speed"! droped in 3rd. and that was all we heard of them pigs.i was kindah freaked out cus of the warrents we have.and the ounces.Try and catch us ridin' dirtay!

grom you will get the hang of that stick.

I just got off the phone with the automated phone system of the San Joaquin County Superior Court...dealing with speeding tickets sucks! The automated phone messages are enough of a deterrent to speeding. Learn from my mistake, which I made on the 5.

I hope you'll still let me help you drive back home..maybe I shouldn't have posted all this.

Schnapz, Jeremy Mirken is solid gold in my opinion. Thanks again for helping me out; you could have left me for dead in Portland, but instead you were a true homie.

Still on my net trip. Lots of updates . . . here we go:

-Chaos Session #1: Learned what to do after I return serve. Came away with 2 sweet Green Cup '06 practice bags. Already making great use of them. Got to play against: PT Lovern, Alexis Duschene, Eric Wulff, Patrick Keehan, and Jack Harris, all high level pro net players. Got to play WITH: Eric Wulff! Life's mission fulfilled, even though it was net and not freestyle

They all thought I had serious skill, which was sweet, and PT said that if I come back more often he'll "train" me up good-like. Dat Phan drove up with me to keep me company on the first ever trip up north in my new car. He brought a sweet high def. camera and filmed a lot of the action so someday you all might see my initiation session with Chaos on the internet.

-Over the last 3 weeks, I have learned how to hit the following spikes: scuff (outside spike), toe jam(flying and standing), toe reverse, flying sideways sole, shtittaft, mousetrap, and flying mousetrap. Only some of those I can hit with consistency however.

-I recently bought a right wrist guard, which will only encourage my high-flyingness. Now I need to get a left wrist guard as well.

-Also, I bought a new pair of net shoes- the same pair that Eric Wulff uses now, which are a bit heavier than my old ones, but have waaaaay flatter inside and outside surfaces and are perfect for setting. At first I thought they were too heavy, but now I am adjusting to them. $103 well spent

.

-Ive played net Thursday, Friday, and today, Saturday, and I plan on playing again tomorrow. Our "net" club is vastly expanding and it is super exciting. It is not too hard to get a 4-man session any day of the week. That is rare nowadays for net.

-If there are an freestylers who are reading this blog who have never tried playing net, do give it a try the next time you're at a big tourney. It's so much fun once you get the hang of it.

-My goal is to whoop A.J.'s ass when he gets back from Iowa . . . I hope he's not reading this

-Several days ago, I had my first block on EJ, and today, I had my first sandwich, which occurred when Sage Woodmansee and I both went up for a bag that was over the net. I won that battle bag-wise but my kick went out of bounds. Too bad that wasn't on camera.

Back from Portland. Had a good time and met tons of new shredders inlcuding my first east coasters, who I will admit were cooler than expected.

I came back with a bit of hardware: Intermediate Singles Net-2nd Place medal. That was definitely the co-highlight of the weekend, with the other being playing open doubles net with my partner Sage Woodmansee against none other than Kenny Shultz and PT Lovern. We got our asses whooped but played several very good points. I had one amazing recovery, which Sage said made me famous from that moment on, and one sweet spike that neither Kenny or PT could dig. EPIC match. Sage and I finished in 11th place.

Freestyle was insane, everyone was super good. Im not posting highlights but i did see some crazy stuff from jorden, clavens, and penske: the Big 3.

Net Summer is finally over. Can hardly believe it.

Last night, dreamt about hosting a footbag tourney but thew venue, unbeknownst to me, yet beknownst to the ghosts who lived there, was quite eerily haunted . . . scared the living crap out of me, but Emily and a few others seemed downright amused at the couch, which began to move along a hidden track at high speeds. Then she and the others found out how to levitate and turn invisible, and began to mess with me. I didnt like that event much. Then I had more awful dreams, about people trying to hurt me. I went to bed at 12:00 last night, but tossed and turned for an hour, had horrible dreams, woke up at 4AM and at every 30-minute increment thereafter, finally getting up at 6:06 for my first day of work in nearly a month. Needless to say, I was frikkin tired. I did meet a bunch of very nice middle aged teachers though.

Will be playing my first net since starting up the new school year tomorrow with Angel and EJ, maybe Joel and Emily

This post is mostly for my own record keeping.

The new school year has started. I am not yet into the full swing of things but I soon will be. My main goal is to improve by playing 3 times per week for the entire length of the school year. If I can manage that, I know that I will be an open level net player in both singles and doubles by the end of the year. I may not be winning anything yet, but I will be able to hold my own in competition.

Yesterday, I played 4 games of singles with AJ, who is back from Iowa. Only two of the games were actually very competitive, one going 15-13, and the other 9-15. The other two games were blowouts, I winning one of them, and he, the other. In the last game, I had two nice spikes.

I need to work my non-spike offensive shots and my placement shots. I need to continue to improve my outside left and my left inside.

I have been stretching for approx 30 minutes each day now for about 3 weeks. Before, touching my toes was a struggle, but now, I can do that when I wake up in the morning, which is my least flexible point in the day. That is a good sign. Stretching is quite rewarding, although time consuming and sometimes mildly, arduously painful.

Today after work, I am going to practice some net skills by myself I think.

Serious, yo, that's what gets me. I think if I were an evil supervillain, I would choose to have the power to induce the feeling that you get when you try to stretch way past your limit in the morning. That, or toe cramps. If I could induce some savage toe cramps, I could probably rule the world.

The point is, I should start stretching more.
