Wondered what the ball they play with is called?
In Thailand its called a "Takraw", used to play Sepaktakraw(net but with a takraw) and other games like chinlone(in mayanmar/burma mostly) or a game similar to basketball but im not sure of its name.

The takraw is made of rattan, basically the same thing as bamboo but with solid stems rather than hollow.

I recieved a shipment of three from thailand. One for myself and two to do what i please.



Not sure on the price yet prolly somewhere from $15-25

Post if youre interested cause i only have two and it might become a bidding thing if there are too many people who want one.

I will boil them in rice water before i send because it lengthens its lifespan(wont crack as fast). It should last at least 3-8 months if you play often and on grass, longer if you dont play often.

Note:it is hard to find rattan takraws now. Plastic has replace them and is lighter, bouncier, and cheaper to MASS PRODUCE.

I might get more later in the year, maybe even some plastic, so dont give your hopes up.

Yes, I have seen the movie and I am in contact with Greg Hamilton. The ball is generically called a rattan ball as it is woven from rattan vines.

They are much easier to play net with IMO, have fun kicking with it, and please tell me how it plays afterwards

My cousin was in China for a while and came back with two Takraw balls for me. I play with my friends all the time. It's a lot of fun.

and its not really called a rattan ball, but i guess you can call it that cause thats what it translates to. Its sepaktakraw in Thailand, sepakraga in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, chinlone in Myanmar, rago in Indonesia, and kator in Laos.[/quote]

i used to play sepak takraw regularly last winter and also played in two international competitions. good fun sport, i liked it more than footbag net, mainly because it is easier to have long rallies.
the official tournament ball is not made from natural material anymore, but from plastic fiber to guarantee standard weight and to make it last longer.
the balls used for playing over the net and in circles (as seen in the chinlone video) differ a lot in weight, though. the ones used to do all the tricks weigh almost nothing, whereas the ones used in the net game are heavy and hard enough to break your nose when hit properly
