Does anyone know of any good quality glow-in-the-dark or fluorescent coloured bags? Are there any stitchers that use neon or illuminous fabrics? I'm talking about something that would be fully shreddable (amount of break-in time doesn't matter).
To help our sport gain more mass appeal I think visibility should be considered highly in the stitching of footbags.
Jus asking b/c I'm interested in incorporating glow footbag or something similar into stage shows in the near future.
You could apply fluorescent fabric paint to a footbag. It might get dirty and chip off quick, but I bet it would last for a show. They even make glow-in-the-dark paint - which usually glows crazy bright under a black-light.
So... paint your shoes glow-blue, the bag glow-red and get yourself a bunch of black lights!
those glo hacks are really easy to see but arent they made out of rubbery stuff?!
i dont have a black light... but i wonder if any of the colors i have are ultra violet...
...i doubt it. maybe white. but i use ultrasuede light. try going to the ultrasuede website and see if any of the colors there suit what youre looking for (though i doubt it)...
...oh yeah... and you can screen print onto ultrasuede and i know for a fact that there are UV screen printing colors. but this would be something you would have to test. i have no idea if it would work or not and the process would be time consuming and expensive.
ive thought about making a bag out of transparency paper for the hell of it. im positive it wouldnt play but itd be cool to look at! maybe mylar would be better than transparency paper... or a mesh (as long as there isnt sand in it)
but you need to play under a blakc light :-/, but there are many colors possible ... just make a all white bag and putthe ink in it. i think it might work ... but prolly $$$ (for the ink)
I think there's an Australian website that has glow in the dark 32s. All you need to do is just leave it out in the sun (or any light) to absorb and you can go ahead and play in the dark. Elemental Footbags is what it's called.

My dad's always commented about how he can't keep track of the bag when I play and he's always saying I need glow in the dark shoes and bags. I guess he's not the only one who's thought of this.
the seems are sewed shut so nothing leaks... not even light i would imagine...
and those glow sticks are large and stiff... not good for footbag... and they would only last for 1 sesh...
and i looked thru a few of my fabrics to see if light shines thru.... nope... facile is pretty solid.
oh well... the glow in the dark fabric paint is very cheap (like 2-3$) and is super black light reactive. that could do some good... plus, its clear in regular light.
we used them in a couple of shows with black light and it worked pretty well, provided the background was really dark.

I use a bright red sandbag when i'm demoing or performing. I did look into getting glow in the dark pellets a while back. Not sure how well they would show through anything opaque as most bag fabrics seem to be. A semi-transparent fabric that isn't a slippery plastic would be awesome.
I've also played with a sipa with LED's inserted into the bag. It was pretty clumsy because of the size of the battery pack. A lot of juggling equipment use watch batteries now that are much smaller and would be more practicle to fit into a bag. I might just give that a try.

in 2000, i made a 12-panel footbag using moskito netting as fabric. i stitched a small piece of rubber with a little cut in the middle onto one of the panels. i filled it with the clearest pellets i could find and used one or two of these small fishing glow sticks (length ~3,5 cm) to have it glow. those glow sticks last about 12 hours, so enough for one night and are reasonably cheap.
this bag is good for shred (i still have it), though quite big, and works even in total darkness. however, in total darkness, you'd also have to have glow sticks on your shoes as it is very important not only to see the bag, but also your feet, and the ground!
i've thought about the visibility/glow in the dark before..... I'd like to see footbag in complete darkness with just the bag, feet, knees, hands and head, glowing
edit: what about that flourescent dust they use for finger prints?
That video is sick. Looks like a really fun juggling club. I ripped apart an LED flashlight earlier and i'm going to try making a glow footbag tommorow.
