New Moderators
New Moderators
Dyalan Govender (Dyalander) and Maxime Boucoiran (Max) are the newest additions to the moderating team. Both were voted on unanimously by the rest of the mods/admin. They are both online often, regular posters, stable, mature, and helpful and respectful to other members. Plus they have been members long enough that we know they (hopefully) aren't going up and quit footbag or Modified. It is a perk that they are from countries that are not the USA so the mod team branches out to other countries, but the decision was not based on that- or at least my vote wasn't.
Edit: Changed title to "Moderators" instead of "Mods"

Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

I think the issue is more that the process of selecting mods was done without any kind of consultation by the community and I think that if someone has an issue with the something in the forum it would be much healthier if that could be discussed freely and openly rather than behind closed doors (aka if you have a problem, post it, don't pm it).Moxie wrote:If anyone has a problem with either of the new mods, please feel free to PM me to discuss it.
I thought Jeremy was around long enough to be sure he wasn't going to up and leave footbag.
and
His posting on .org made it sound like some of the moderators refused to actually deal with the users of the forum, and he quit out of frustration with the other mods and the procedures they prefer to use.
How do we know these new mods weren't hand select to rubber stamp the portions of the moderator agenda that Jeremy disagreed with ?
Another moderator apppointment with no input from the community, sweet.

I hadn't noticed people treating modifed as a resourse rather than a community, and I certainly intend to treat it as the later.
And I think that was only part of the reason Jeremy left.
Yeah look, I think its important I learn as much about what mods do and how they do it as a starting point, but i do intend, and have already brought up some issues I think the mods should consider (actually Jeremy brought them up before he left). These sorts of things will take time so please be patient, I will give more details at the appropriate time (and when I have the time to give them).
Also if you really want to know why Jeremy no longer posts here rather than speculate I'd suggest you email him about it. I'm sure he'd happily tell you.
He hasn't left footbag, he's just reduced his commitments, he is still highly involved in organising the Australian scene, and I'm pretty sure he is still stitching bags too, he has just resigned from his place on modified and also from being communications officer for the ifpa.
