Am i able to do a clipper?

Post by Days »

first post yay!

well on to the topic. I ask this question simply because i am over wieght and ive tried the trick and it seems that my body is what hinders me from doing the move. so my question is are there any over wieght players that have over come this problem or is it even a problem at all? thanks for the help in advance.

when i first started to footbag, i must say i was over weight (and i pretty much still am) but anyway, i think as long as you practice alot, and work out sometimes this shouldnt be a problem, ive been footbagging for about 1 year now and my abilities are hindered by wieght anymore, its all about getting into shape, and stretching before and after so that you are flexible enough to do some of the moves. i hope ths helps you man, feel free to pm me if you have any firther questions :)

ive been playing for about a year too and I'm 6'2 220lbs... If you could inside stall you can clipper

the only problems with me are that its harder to do symposium tricks, get tired faster, and slower when it comes to footwork.

im average weight but yeah you can do them with a little practice i can do them with sandbags but its a little harder to do them with crocheted bags but as for a few tips(these are just a few that helped me they dont work for everyone) land on your plant foot at the same time that you stall...keep a little bit of space between your stalling foot and plant foot (dont tuck your leg right in behind your knee) and the biggest one that helped me is turn your shoulders (not your head) towards your stalling foot for example if you stall it on your left side turn your whole upper body to your left but keep your lower body straight as you come out of the stall turn your upper body straight again

hope that helps just keep practicing

another thing that i never figured out about clipper until about my 3rd month or so was, although you plant your support foot, that foot is what makes you able to delay the bag, you have to cushion the plant foot, to help you delay the bag. I hope that makes sense :P

I am also over weight at the moment 6'1" 210 lbs.

Ofcourse I learned footbag at 165 lbs. so I already have clippers down.

But one thing I can tell having been both skinny and big, is that your knees will suffer the most. A good clipper requires a deep bend in your support leg at the knee (where else?).

The heavier you are the more this will hurt after practicing several hundred of them. So take care to stretch and potentially ice and heat the knees while you are learning so that you don't get injured.

Have Fun!

probably not seeing as how i did the same thing (except i snowboarded for 8 years then did footbag) you just need to manage your weight, and slim down a little (playing footbag helps alot) ive lost over 20 lbs from just kicking the sack, just when your tired...dont give up and keep going till you cant go no more....then rpt.....

added: and if ANYthing at all hurts...stop playing or you will probably injure yourself

well when i say stop playing i mean rest it for a few days or so...

and when you stretch try not to over stretch like doing it so it hurts, just go far enough to were you can feel tension in your legs, and not pain that shold help alot more, and make you more flexible faster

Stalls don't take very long to learn, it's the mastering of them that sucks/takes time. By the way!

I have a friend who weighs close to 300 pounds, and he is 5' 7" (or so, but not completely exaggerated) and he can clipper. I don't think it's your body that will be holding you back .

it took me a little less than a year to become fully tiltess, and kinda guiltless, so it all depends on how much you practice, and what not
