can you believe i haven't been to europe once this past year?!?! i think i was in paris 5 times in 2 years before that!!! Perhaps i should consider heading out to belgium for a weekend or something, because we need to hang out again, and soon!!! enjoy your birthday week, don't gt so trashed you miss work

yeah true, you havn't been around in a while! I thought that maybe your parent's airfare deals stopped being valid after a certain age or something!
But yeah my door's wide open to you here in Belgium you're more than welcome to pop over when-ever you want, and it's a tiny 1h20min train ride straight to the heart of Paris (one stone two birds etc).

Oh and if you're going to have a beer for my health make it a Stella eh

do you actually know why Stella is called wife-beater?? I've heard it before (in England) but don't know why they call it that...I've always wondered.. Well if you don't like Stella you can always pick and choose from any of the hundreds of beers produced in Belgium. I'm sure you'll find something you'll like. Try a Duvell if you get the chance. It's a killer beer. And it's blond too.

Ok so I had been waiting 9 months for winter to end. It finally did end late June (early June saw average temps of 10°C with usual all-day rainfalls). Apart from two sunny weeks in July I think I missed this so-called "Summer". Anyway it's now mid-August, commonly accepted as being the warmest, sunniest time of year. It's been raining solidly for the past three weeks, and the forecast sees more of the same for the rest of the week. It's absolutely pouring down in rain in a nice brisk 14°C or so at the moment.. All this to say that I have actively started administrative preparations to get my ass to Sydney (Australia) by next year. I'll tough it out one more winter here and then I'm getting the fuck out of here.

The weather did me in. I new it was crap but I thought it wouldn't get to me. It did.

I would kill for a winter of 10C, much better than -40C. Looks like i had better get my ass in gear and come out to visit before you take off! or i could always wait till you move to sydney... hummm choices choices...

About Belgian summer. Well... as a native Belgian I almost feel obliged to somehow defend our weather gods. Still I think you're all but right about this bloody summer.

I've been thinking and in fact it's the third time in a row this happens. The summer of 2003 was the last one worthy of that name (then again the whole of western Europe got pretty much scorched that year). The summers have been 'comme ci comme ça' since. I don't get it, it almost feels like climate zones are shifting.

All in all I think this is pretty disgusting. If this goes on a few more summers I'm gone too

Man you sound like you really could do with some Sydney weather - get your ass down here asap. Winter is already winding up - temps are back on the way up having never even got down to single figures (celsius) actually it probably did once or twice at night. It did hail yesterday, but that was for 10 mins out of an otherwise sunny and warm day. I finish my Phd in March 2008 though so if you plan on coming down for the 2007-8 summer I'm not sure how much shred time I'll have.

I don't know I still think that I have three or so years in me. But then again I've been saying that for the past three or so years also... so I don't know we'll see. I'm still hitting new tricks every 3 or so sessions anyway so that's always good. And I havn't had shin splints or any kind of injury in AGES (knocks on wood). Other than that, you're free to come and visit when you want of course!

Yes quite a summer indeed. That's what all the belgians say to me: "oh you should have seen summer 2003, it was very warm!". Yes, so warm in fact that 15000 people dies that summer in France (no kidding). It was a climate anomaly....

so if you plan on coming down for the 2007-8 summer I'm not sure how much shred time I'll have.

Dyalan: I'll be popping down for much more than just a summer (read: job, house etc... at least a couple of years).

Come on Max, I would say you have at least another decade of shred within you if you stay in the game. Look at Kenny and Pete. They're pretty much double your age

and still ripping. Motivation is key I guess.

On the physical level I think at some point there will be tricks your body comes to like less (so Pete says).

Like you say, your body still likes footbag and the progress is still there too, so you're okay on both points!

Other than that... 3 YEARS

Now did you really think we were letting you off that easily?

Besides, what would you say to becoming an 'émincence grise' of footbag in ten years or so?

Haha Wim I love that expression! For some reason I always thought it meant "someone very bright (intellectually)" untill I looked up what it actually did mean

Anyway big news today: I HAVE QUIT SMOKING TODAY

(and it's a pain in the ass I might add).
