lets do some math.

20 hexes

each touches three other hexes. (60 short sides touching)

spikes are between 2 short sides.

(20x3) /2

the answer is 30.

your welcome.

spikes are very hard to do (right), and imo not worth doing.

plus, the bags turn out too rolly.

but they look cool.

If I'm counting good, it's 40.

Edit: My bad. It's 30. It's not good to count spikes on your bags at 23:38 o'clock :D.

but im sure you can also put 60 or 90 spikes ..

for 60: on all pent's sides
for 90: on all pet's sides + between hexes (ultra mega giga spiked haha)

bags with spikes already dont play as good as a bag without... you dont want 60 or 90 spikes... the bag wouldnt be playable imo

i think footfighter has the ability to put 60 or 90 spikes on because they use

ALCANTARA

and

ameratto suede.

both are thinner than facile, and are not as stiff (duh).

so i think 30 is tops for a facile bag.

but do what you want. i just dont like bags i make not to be playable (esp since it takes like 7 hrs to do a 30 spike bag, or even longer to do a 60)

just make a 90 spikes bag and put it on the shelf in your collection :). there is no more thing to do with a bag like that .. OR you can make one for circles ... everybody will be like " OMFG ITS SOOOOOOOOOO COOL !!! " (but totally useless lol)

I think a super spikey bag would be killer in a 4-square court. Bags can always be broken in if you're careful with the filler and your wash treatment.

Alcantara and/or Amaretto suede used in conjunction on facile bags have been a thought on my mind the past month concerning spikey bags. It sounds plausible. :)

spikes are not hard to do at all imo. if you can stitch a normal 32, then you can stitch a spiked 32. all you have to do is when you're adding a hex just put a spike inbetween.

i didnt mean it was difficult, as in not easily done, but its too much work.

too much cutting, too much time invested in a product that i often find inferior to other (nonspiked) footbags.

and you have to get your spikes straight and everyting... just too much to do for not that much money.

well... i finished stitching my 32 spikey bag. it looks sick; it still needs filler... and i dont have a camera... but i'll try to describe it for you:

charcoal hexes (really really dark blue),
really dark green... i think its called forest green?,
both spikes (green and blue)

but because the colors are so dark it looks black, the bag as a whole. and the spikes make it just stick out and say, " hey i'm one kickass bag, stitched by bryce ledner, ya, he did it, and he's not a bad guy either..."

the whole process took mabe 30 more minutes than an actual 32 panel would stitch. the spikes aren't hard to place... but having to pierce all 3 layers was a bit tough.......

end result: spikey bags rock for the looks, play-wise, idk
