Ben: Sick kicks, man. Honestly, my lavers could use a little bit of that whole replacing the old fabric with new stuff. And that sticky mesh stuff must be wicked good. Neat idea.

EDIT: First post on page 44. Huz-zah!!

i think the only way you can learn bad form with pixie and the likes is if you teach yourself bad form, i mean sure, theres a good chance that if you do and you play by yourself, that you will learn bad for, but thats like that with pretty much anything when your playing by yourself, i think it doesnt matter, and if you have someone to show you good form..then you will have good form, but saying that by cutting off the toe walls, it condemns your form? i say nay to that boys and girls....

anyway...sorry for ranting off topic

If you're a noob playing by yourself, odds are your pixie is going to default to one of these two paths:

no toe walls:

bad form -> sets don't snag -> sets go up -> this form gets repeated and learned -> player learns a bunch of pixie moves with bad form, which will all have to be broken and relearned later when eventually people start calling the pixie bad.

toe walls:

bad form -> sets snag -> sets don't go up -> player works harder at fixing his/her bad form until it is right. -> set's don't snag -> sets go up -> sets are correct and player can spend time learning something else.

I'm not saying if you cut off the toe walls you will learn bad pixies, but it'll take more discipline to learn them correctly the first time without them. Don't give yourself the chance to learn pixie wrong. Save yourself a lot of work in the long run and keep the toe walls.

Except all you're really learning how to do is to wait for the bag to clear the walls before starting the dex.

Good form comes from a proper understanding of the trick, you can do shitty toe-ey sets with walls also.

Using the sidewalls as some learning aid is silly.

It helps to have a limiter. I'm all for that ideal.

Waiting for the bag to clear the walls helps greatly in insuring a clean set. That is the benefit. Using the sidewalls as a learning aid isn't silly in the least. If you learn your pixie sets with toe walls then you will be able to pixie cleanly in any shoe. Sorry, but "proper understanding of the trick" basically means dick if your muscle memory is all wacked out from having learned something incorrectly.
