This is an official poll, the administration will decide what is allowed in the video section based on this poll.

Please note that video requests with [request] in the title and video related announcements (selling your DVD, advertsing online comps etc) will still be allowed in this section, this poll is just to decide what time of video media is allowed to be posted here and what goes to the kicking circle.

i think there should be only footbag videos in the footbag video forum... and in the kicking circle area... have another video forum for unrelated videos

I think that topics related to videos should also be allowed in provided they have (no video) in the topic. It's nice to have a spot to talk about video editing techniques, have requests for videos, and also to post videos related to footbag. It would be nice to have a separate section maybe?

If you don't want freestyle soccer vids in the video section you should have gone with option 1.
This right here is what I think is the problem with the second option. I think it will be easier if we have a footbag only vid section then you can post other vids in kicking circle. What does footbag related mean? We are going to use it to mean freestyle soccer, net, takraw. But if people go with the second option I can see this issue coming back when someone posts something else that is arguably as related to footbag as these things but got moved to the kicking circle because it wasn't on the list.
In the end though I don't think it will matter all that much either way, anything other thatn footbag will probably get pushed down under all the footbag vids. And if it gets to a point where people become unhappy with the section getting clogged up we can always make another change.

I don't think anything but freestyle footbag vids should be allowed here.
We should probably make it genuine guilt free shred and better to be safe.

Apparently there are some people who don't have my ability to not watch
vids when they have no interest in the video. Sitting through soccer and
takraw videos disturbs this portion of our membership.

While I can easilly ignore 99% of these threads, it is just not realistic to
expect everyone to do it this way. Some people are so f*cki*g retarded
they will sit and watch video after video after video, and then get pissed
off because they aren't the type of videos they want to watch.

Apparently they get so upset from these non-freestyle footbag videos
they seek the help of moderators to move the videos outside of the video
section. In addition to wasting our moderators time, it leads to more
rules and regulations, which will require even more of our moderators'
time.

Rather than educate the inept web browsers amongst us, we should just
make sure every video here is made in a cookie factory, preferably with
one of the three IFPA approved cookie cutters that everyone likes so
damn much.

On second thought, maybe all the videos should come from a cake
factory. I like cake.

I will reserve the choice comment I had for anybody who has a problem with too many vids, but how could too many vids be a problem?
Modified isnt even hosting the bandwith so the more vids the better does somebody think us footbaggers have nothing to learn from these other footsports?

This discussion is unnecessary. It's not like the mods were banning non-footbag videos from the forum completely, or if people actually post these sorts of videos regularly. The real reason Jeremy made a stink about his thread being moved to the Kicking Circle is that he believed his thread would have gotten less attention, not because this was some awful travesty. If he thought it would have gotten the same number of views and comments in the Kicking Circle, he wouldn't have cared.

everyone's complaining about soccer freestyle videos but its not like this forum is overrun with them. By choosing the second and IMO the most sensable option you are not condemning the forum to hours and hours of freestyle soccer footage, merely opening the door for footbag enthusiasts to show-off interesting footbag related videos they've created/found.

There is a reason to discuss this because it was a disciminatory implementation of a rule by the people who choose to put themselves into a position to have power. The majority of members who answered the poll believe the video was originally posted in the correct place. This raises questions about the intent of the mods to represent the will of the community, as opposed to representing their own personal agendas.

Was there a secret rule the moderators decided upon as eluded to in other threads ?

Was this secret rule the reasoning behind moving Jeremy's thread ?

Why are there still threads in this section with non-footbag or no videos, if there is a rule that the moderators are enforcing ?

Did some asshat ask a moderator to move the thread ?

I don't believe the mods are implementing a rule, as only one video was moved. Maybe nobody bitched about the videos, and the moderators
were just in the wrong to take unilateral action against a posting by a well respected forum member and veteran player. We won't ever be sure, because our moderators believe in secret discussion instead of community interaction and full disclosure. The mod forum could be read only for members, but instead it is off limits. On other forums I use, the administration section is readable for everyone, and the community is aware of what is a concern for the admins.

As far as I know the post was moved based on some rule made before I was a mod, that I never knew about. It was not the result of a specific complaint. Why were others not moved? Probably because a mod didn't actually watch/notice those vids to see that they should be moved, that's why I personally haven't moved any of them. GIven the response to the poll it looks like they won't be moved.
The Mods are working on making such rules clearer and facilitating easier interaction between mods and the community so that these rules better represent broader community attitudes. Please be patient.

Just to clear this up, it went like this:

Emily moved Jeremy Mirkins topic because Jeremy Owheel or Brad or someone ages ago decided we should put all non-footbag related videos in the kicking circle.

The rule has been enforced inconsistantly because some mods think some videos are ok to be in here and some mods are more strict on the 'rule'.

So we decided to make this poll to see what the community wants in their forum and we will enforce the decided on rule from then on.
