Updated KICKASS2 Carpooling List
Drivers: Lackey, Skippy
Riders: Camille, Greenwood, Mike, Taishi, Johnny

We have yet to organize who is riding with whom. I'm open to discussions about logistics, pickups, etc. I know it's still early to be discussing the finer details, but chalk it up to how excited I am about this Tourney!

Mikey the promoter wrote:Hey guys,
Here is the info for the York show for LOVE this Tuesday:
Show Details:
Tuesday, September 5th, 2006 @ York University in the building called "Tait Mackenzie" (performance time 230pm, estimated show length = 40 minutes)
Try to arrive for 130pm the latest if possible. You are more then welcome to come earlier but if you could get there by 130pm at Tait then we'd have some time to at least plan the show a bit. You are going to be recieving $50 for your performance as an honorarium for coming out (in future we'll obviously get better shows this is more of a charity show for Leave out violence)
Acts we have planned:
bboy street show style (15 minutes), beatboxing show (5+ minutes), footbag show (5 minutes), violin/popping performance (5+ minutes), positive rap performance (5+ minutes)
We're trying to make one show flow from one to the next, we may even combine certain freestyle segments (for example: footbag can throwdown with the breakers and same with beatboxing.
Getting to York:
There are several buses that go directly to York University from main stations like downsview or finch...
Check this link for directions on how to get to York through various routes:
http://www.yorku.ca/web/futurestudents/ ... ansit.html
Finding Tait Mackenzie (once you get to York):
Check this campus map to find exactly where Tait Mackenzie is (It's #4 on the map) (your bus will probably get off around the student centre #23 on the map):
http://www.yorku.ca/web/futurestudents/map/webmap.html
It is about a 10 minute walk from the bus stop at York to get to Tait Mackenzie so you should ask people on campus which direction to go in as your first source of finding the place so you don't get too lost (it's hard to follow these maps sometimes)
Once you get to Tait Mackenzie go in asking about where Student Clubs are setting up their tables and look for the "Leave Out Violence @ York" table (i'll be there, Mikey)

You guys can fill that spot with a cooler or something because I'm not going to be attending KICKASS this year.
. I talked it over with my parents and they were supportive of me goign to tournaments and all but my mom or my dad wont be able to make it out to Kingston on the weekend of the event. They also said they dont feel comfortable with me going there with people they dont know(besides Dan). Some better news is that I will be able to attend KICKASS next year if its being held again. By then I'll be 16 and I'll prob be able to car pool it out with the FAT crew and even if im not, my mom said she plan in advance so I can make it out there no matter what.
I'm also gonna make it out to the next local jam if there is one, or if any of the TO shredders come out to Mississauga I'll be there for shred. This is both good and bad news, I'm already excited about next year.

If they are uncomfortable with you being in a place with a bunch of people they don't know I highly doubt they would be comfortable with what will go down at kickass 2.

Nothing at all. I was referring to the drinking and smoking at the parties obviously.mosher wrote:What's so bad about a bunch of nice people playing and having fun together?jon wrote:If they are uncomfortable with you being in a place with a bunch of people they don't know I highly doubt they would be comfortable with what will go down at kickass 2.

Okay,
So all at once we have gone from having 2 seats left to having about -1 or -2 seats left. In the last few days, Andrew has expressed that he may possibly go, Erik Chan has graciously accepted FAT's offer to include him in the carpool, and we're taking his girlfriend too. Aside from all that, my girlfriend has business to attend to in Kingston that weekend as well!
So if there were 7 people going before, now there may be up to 11 in the vehicles. SO! I want to rent a VAN!
I think it would end up being $140 to rent for the weekend. I'm even thinking of trying for a 12 passenger van so we all only need the one vehicle. However, it may mean we need everyone to chip in a bit of cash...
So, that said, the carpool list for FAT is pretty much closed for the time being. Let me know what you think everyone, and we can figure this out soon so I can make the necessary arrangements.

Taishi - NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have so much more to teach me!! And you're my only consistent shred partner!!!
Josh - A van sounds good. I'll pitch in my share of the rental and gas cost.

So I just talked with a couple car rental places.
Apparently you have to be 25 to rent anything.
So I can't.
I will still drive myself, my girfriend, and 3 others to Kingston if I need to use my car.
Mike, maybe you could handle the car rental? Before you do, though, my family has a nice big van that I'll tyr and talk them into giving me for that weekend in exchange for my car
I am ADAMANT that all FAT members and others who have a spot on the list so far will be able to go together. I'll get back in touch very soon.

I can rent and drive the van if we need it. First I'll need to be reasonably sure that I'll have some help with the costs.

So... in the neverending drama there seems to be a light in sight.
I will most likely be able to get my family van, a safari that can seat 8 total including driver, though with stuff 7 may even be a snug fit, for the KICKASS weekend. Which means that we should be good without renting anything, thank god.
KICKASS2 Carpooling List, (should be) FINAL
Drivers: Lackey, Skippy
Passengers: Nicole (Lackey's gf), Erik, Erik's gf, Camille, Greenwood, Taishi, Mike, Johnny, Vida, (maybe)Andrew.
Space: 12 / 12 seats presently accounted for.
If there are any changes for anyone on this list, let me know here or PM me please! YAY KICKASS!
