how do i repair this bag?

my lovely docbag is getting holes.. he fell into a bush so the facile got a bit rubbed on this panel. first there were only 1, 2 holes where i put little tape on, but it kept getting more holes and i had to put more and more tape on it. so i thought this cant be the solution.
what do you suggest, plz help this is my favourite bag!

you can replace the panels that have the holes in, it looks like you'll prob have to remove at least 2 pents as the hexs are connected to 2 diffrent pents.... thats the only think i can think of, the only other solution is some glue maybe, worldfootbag.com has some show glue that they recommend for repairing holes in bags

yyou have to redo the pent for sure if you want to keep this bag. WITH the "Patching Tape" you can find on kingstonfootbag website

wash it, dry it, patch it

or id try to put the taped part of a plaster, i think it might work

Personally, I'm always looking for a reason to get a new footbag. That looks like a pretty good reason in my eyes.

you can prolly save that bag by applying a lot of Elmer's stix-all to it without replacing any panels.

It is clear that the stitching of 1 pentagon has come loose, but rather than try to re-stitch that pent, which the bag is prolly in too bad a shape for, you might just try fixing (securing) the thread in place by gluing over it and gluing over all of those holes. Not all glues will work. Definitely do not use Shoe Goo. Use Elmer's stix-all or you'll regret it.

well, if the bag would be a few month old i´d agree. but this bag was made and bought at worlds, so i have to disagree, try too contact docJay and ask him if he can and wants to repair it, or bring it with you the next time we meet, then i´ll do my best.

no no i just got this bag at frankfurt and i want to keep it at least for half a year more

it was just an accident it flew into that damn wet bush-tree thing...

im looking forward to contact jochen himself to repair it or maybe marco will do. marco told me elmer stix is patex in germany i will look for it. the patching tape solution sounds good to me but i dont know if its worth ordering from the usa for just some tapes (shipping will be more than tapes acctually).

if marco or jochen cant do it i will re-stich the pentagon to the hexagon and tape the holes with a tape i hope to get at the drogery store.

Definitely try to have Marco or Jochen repair it. Bag repairs are easy with some time and patience.

Re: the tape. i'm pretty sure it's medical tape, for attaching bandages and whatnot to your skin. You'll likely find some in a first aid kit, or buy it from a chemist pretty cheaply. I've got a roll that I found amongst all our first aid stuff here at home, and I've used it to patch bags up before. Although that's a large hole, and you'd probably be better off getting a stitcher to repair it as you said

marcos bags have holes in them too

personally i wouldnt get anyone but that stitcher to fix it... and if you cant then give up on that bag... heres why:

definately get the stitcher who stitched it to repair the bag. or else... its not really that stitcher's footbag or style anymore. im sure theyd be willing to fix it...

...its kinda like getting a tattoo thats half done at one place... then going somewhere else to get it finished... you lose the initial artist's touch and style... only less permanent

Truer words haven't been said. Though when it comes to the point that a stitcher has retired (Lonn Irish) and a bag that they made has busted a stitch/blown a panel, it's great to pick up the challenge. Plus, it's super easy once you know what you're doing and get a hang of the bag stitcher's stitching style.

I do a lot of bag repairs, so whatever.

nobody in their right mind would repair that bag by replacing panels on it. The HEXES are fucked, not the pent, so that necessittates replacing at least 3 pents just to get to the hexagon! I would say a big "screw you buddy."

There is a straw in the background. He probably just cut the straw to take out the fill of a bag.

The gather on that pent is probably going to be pretty screwed up, no matter what you do to repair it.

i would never cut anything on THIS bag - that was like cutting me in my own finger... it would hurt a lot. but yes, its a scissor that ive used to cut the tape (omg i just noticed it IS medical tape from a first aid kit, but is it the right?). you saw that red thing in the upper left corner? its "hansaplast" ... look here:

pretty cuddly and sticks well. but as u can imagine i had to put it such a big area and even from the pent to the hex where its loose... it started with one whole. so before it would get more n more, i wanted to try something different... gonna send it jochen!

Everyone in the world needs MEFIX tape.

You can patch big ass holes and you can't even feel it on the bag.

It stays on forever and you can still wash it.

We sell it on the KFM website or you can find it online.

Thanks Tom for the info. I've tried and looked everywhere for this same type of medical tape, and I just wasn't 100% sure if the other name brands really competed well. This type of medical tape is, I believe, the best one to use for patching up bags.

And to be on topic: yeah, I guess I wasn't thinking clearly for this Docbag. Use Elmer's fix-all glue and such for this repair.

a little sewing, some facile pieces glued on the holes, rest glued together. havent played with it so far. of course, jochen couldve done better but it will take a while until i meet him again..
