26 Panels, of Joy.

26 Panels are nice bags, that play very well and look cool. You could almost say, I Love them.

The only thing that keeps me from making tons of them, is the fact that they take me literally forever to sew!

Is it possible to sew these suckers using one continuous thread? I Always run into 'dead' ends, and am forced to knot and cut.

If you can't (or can) use one thread, what's the most efficient order to sew the panels in?

While we're talking about this subject, does anyone know the most effecient way to sew 20 panels, and 38 panels also?

you know, i would go out of my way to draw this out and wrap my brain around finding an answer to your question, but im gonna ask a question back instead to be mystical, cryptic, and make u think

we sew 32s in little rings of thread, each around a pent. each one has the opportunity to break in evenly.

wont following a wierdass zigzag pattern around the back turning at acute angles is going to put stress on fabric spots instead... this will invariably cause problems with break in later on, even if initially the bag is nice lookin?

would it not be better to instead find a consistent way to sew these unique bags instead of a 1 thread way?

food for thought, as ive never stitched antyhing but a 32

Just thought of this then, so i haven't checked if this is how it's done, but couldn't you stitch rings around 12 of the 18 squares(like you do with the pent on a 32) and then turn the remaining squares into octagons to add bleed holes? I think there used to be a picture of a bag made like this in the modified banner.

I think this would probably take less time than a typical 32.

I still want to see an Icosahedron, 20 panel triangles, never seen one. sorry, off topic, but its the last of the Platonic Solids that i havent seen as a bag, and you're a "avantgarde" sticher Toby....do it!, I would but i dont stitch yet

I started making one ages ago, but decided that they are a terrible design since the corners of 5 shapes all meet at one point, and there is probably no way to make it break in properly.

I would like to play around a bit with a 26 panel pattern, but i don't have the time. If anyone does, this stencil i made might be useful:

Once, I made a 20 Panel sandbag... Played allright for an ultra-mini ultrasuede-sandbag. Really hard to sew though.

Well I finally got down this far and found that I have a 20 panel all triangles and it sews great but I only use it for net bags. I have never done one for freestyle.

this one is all leather and has about 5 net games on it.
