7/28

Since I could not get online last night to post & I am at lunch or dinner whatever us night people will call it I will post now. Friday afternoon shred starting at 3:30 pm till about 8:30 pm. We finally had a lot of club come out to kick. Josh, Conrad, Nate, Lucas (new guy), & myself. Lucas has some 2 add tricks down & we showed him mirage & how to fine tune some things. Nate was kickin pretty good as usual. I still don't think he kicks on his own much. We need to drag him out on fridays so he is not so rusty when he comes out to make his monthly shred. Josh was in a rushing mode all day so he was a bit off & it does not help that both his ankles & his left knee hurt. What an old man. haha yeah right. I just think he needs to stretch more which will help his shin splints. Injuries suck ass! Lucas had to take off after about 2 hrs because he had a date with his g/f. Nate kicked some more & left early too. Conrad bailed about 8 pm. He was doing pretty good. He hit pixie dlo & pixie drifer a few times. He also played around with his fairies. He will be ducking those soon. As for me I had a good session. I must have sleep ok even though I got off work at 6am. Thanks to all that came out to kick. We kicked at Tempe Beach park for a chance of scenary. It was a pretty nice park. Needs more shade tho! At least them temp was about 94 but the humity was a bit high. Ok high for around here. No need to get testy coast dwellers & humidifians (ok not a word but you know what I mean).

Highlights for me:
--bubba beater on strong side again. no luck on flip
--tripwalk on flip & no luck on strong side. weird!
--a couple of zulu clips. Had to stop because neck was sore from sleeping funny the last few nights.
--a real tight pdx dlo second try. only strong side.
--several long tiltless strings of 20+
--a couple long guitless strings of about 12 to 15. ok long to me~!
--30+ infinities. Lost track at 23 & had about 15 more after that! Yeah! Have to beat that next session so I can know that exact count.
--good whirls & rev whirls all day!
--new trick? damn I must be getting old. Ok I think I hit a new one.
--atomic ss legover on strong a couple of times
--a few atom smashers on bs! Been working them out of pdx mirage a lot! had a few good looks to.
--toe>swirl 2 different times on flip. Strong would not work!

Lows:
--Stepping & dbl dex tricks still suck for me!

Received Jorden Moir DVD in the mail that day too. I watched most of it last night. What a animol! I really enjoy his lessons too. They had very good insite. Very different then what most people teach. The only problem with the DVD's where that there was not enough lessons. Overall damn good tho! I am looking forward to the next ones! Thanks Jorden!

later....

I got back from Rio Ranch, NM Saturday evening 8/5. I was there to fill in for one of the guys that was on vacation. I had a couple of solo sessions while I was there. I tried to get a hold of a couple of guys that I have hacked/freestyled with back when I lived there but everyone was busy. I also tried to get a hold of Emil Tsao (limester816) but I could not get a hold of him. Looks like he has not been on modified in a quite a while. Not sure if he is still kickin. Anyway... I had one short session on Friday 8/4. Since it was so short, like 40 minutes, I only worked BOP stuff. Real good practice. My weakside seems a bit less weak. I think it is slowly coming along.

Then on Saturday 8/5 I had a 2 hr & 15 minute session. I wanted to kick more but had to check out of the hotel so I had to wrap it up.

-worked on stepping:
blurs (could not hit it on flip this day)
stepping clips (only hit it a couple of times on weakside)
sidewalk - hit it several times on good & a couple of sloppy ones on weak side. On good side I can go into infinity pretty easy but the flip I have to bail to osis.
-ducking butterfly on bothsides several times. Not is a row.
-21 infinites & then 17 a bit later. it is coming along
-a lot of whirls & rev whirls practice. Need to be careful on weakside because I am doing it wrong. I can feel the burn. doh.
-BOP runs - 12 to 15. I think this is normal for me. Definitely getting smoother.
-ducking mirages starting from toe. Need to work this into some runs. I usually hit ducking pdx mirage in runs so ducking mirages from toes would be a nice addition.
-a lot of spinning clip practice. The flip is coming along. I can hit 3 or 4/5.

It was pretty humid in Rio Rancho since it has been raining so much. They had some record rain there. Even tho it was on in the high 80's it was more clammy then AZ. I had a chance to play some pool with a buddy of mine. He definitely needs to quit drinking. Not good for him or his pool game. Never understood the fascination about drinking. I guess I never will. Anyway that is a pretty harsh subject for me so I will leave at that.

Since I had to change my schedule around a bit & get up earlier I feel a bit tired already & it is only 8pm. I have to work till 6am then I have kung fu in the morning. ahhhh....

Hopefully when Ken S. gets back we can get in one more session before he takes off to school. Cross your fingers guys!
Note to self: kick more!!! I love Footbag!!!

Glad to hear you made it home safely Mike. Looks like you stepping is getting better. How's that flip clip of yours?

I haven't been shredding much, I had a little session on fri. then I had another today. I've been drilling my pixie's and fairie's after my bike ride in the morning. My pixie's are looking better, and my fairies are even better than my pixie's. I footed fear, fairy beater and park avenue today, it was kool. I was challenged to hit 2 differen't sick 3's today, tapdown > ducking pdx mirage > legbeater, can't do because I can't atomic out of anything yet. The other was, tapdown > ripwalk > pdx torque, I hit it once, and had 3 other really good looks at it. So today wasn't a loss, new move pdx torque.

Are we gonna shred on Fri. Mike?

Hey hey. I get back today/tomorrow (I arrive in AZ on the 8th), and this weekend would seem to be my last chance to get in a shred. Hope we can work something out.

Had a little session today outside. It is only about 100 degrees but it still takes its toll on you. I was playing a bit slow & as usual the flip clip was being a pain. I played for about 40 minutes then I had to rush off to work. I worked the usual clips & BOP stuff. I noticed that when I do my flip clip I don't go straight up when I do the set. I just lift it diagionally into my body like if I did a stepping set it would be way slurred. I need to work that bad habit out of my system. I can some what feel the grove when I get into clip>op clip or infinities but the bad habit still raises its ugly head. My dynos where working today which was about the only highlight since I took it easy & didn't have much time to kick. The low was my pixies sucked ass.

On a better note Ken S. gets back tomorrow so we will have to squeeze in a shred. Hopefully Friday the 11th! We have been playing every Friday, well except last Friday because I would out of town. This really helps my game & my motivation. So this Friday is kinda up in the air!

In October is the Bluesfest & Octoberfest so we will have to go down there & do some shreddin & show people what Footbag is all about.

I really enjoy & at the same time it makes me sad looking at all the Photos of worlds & all the videos of the tournaments & Jams because it has been so long since I have been to a tournament. I felt like my game does not desevere a tournament till I get better but at the same time it might my help push me more & I could learn so much & finally play some NET. World's in Florida? We will see......

Josh,
Good job on the toe moves! I want to see them on Friday! Shred on.....

8/11 We had a shred down in Tucson. Josh, Conrad, & I drove down. I tried to get Nate down there so he can finally meet Ken S. but it didn't happen. I heard that have had some good discussions/disagreements online about many things so it would have been interesting. Johnny could not make it.

The shred turned out to be a total of about 4 + hour shred session. I meet Josh & Conrad at a park n ride at Costco 2pm in Northwest Chandler so it would make it easier on everyone. Then we started the long drive down. As usual we are pumped up antisipating the long shred that was to come especially with the man, Ken Somolinos. We pretty much talked about Footbag the whole way down. New moves, new combos, Worlds in Florida all the usual stuff. Ken had a good idea to play at this semi-disserted-almost non-security working mall called El Con. This first shred session did not last long but it was well worth the try. There was a food court which really wasn't a food court. It was a circle area with a small fence around it & some painted pictures of what the food court should look like if there were resturants there. i will post this funny pic soon. Conrad & I spend some time walking the mall looking for a bathroom. Conrad just wanted to change to his shorts & I had to piss. I told Conrad to change right there since no one was around. So he did. I decided not to piss right there & just hold it. It usually passes when you start sweating & kickin anyway. While we were walking Ken & Josh warmed up with some kickin. Ken did he usual quick warmup. I think he said he kick 100 kicks. wow. quick. I am an old man so I need more. haha. We got back & Ken was already busting. Josh was doing great as usual. His ankles where better till he took a bad spill. Luckily he fell into it so it was not that bad. His shins were feeling better also & you can tell by his stepping. Conrad spent sometime pimpin on the phone a couple of times. I think one time it was like for 30 mins. Then it was time to go. haha. We had the camera setup for a while so look for some vids soon. I kicked ok. Took a long while to warmup the flip clip. Then I hit 20+infinities & had a few good runs. Then we had the usual rent-a-cops (mall security) come up & told us to leave. Ken tried to smooth talk his way out but I could tell it was not going to happen. These old timers were by the book. I asked if they knew a park near by. They said across the street. Great I said. So we left & noticed the park across the street was a golf course. We kept driving to test our luck & low & behold there was a park which turned out to be a community center with a nice air conditioned gym. No drinks or filming allowed so we shredded anyway. It was a great deal for $1/person. We shot some hoops first. Me, white man can't jump mike, can only shoot. I think I had a few 3's. Conrad had a spinning 3 pointer. Ken & Josh were all over the court trying shots. They made a few. We all said we better stick to Footbag since basketball was not our thing. haha. I think I heard Ken mention a few times that he could play & that he liked basketball. not sure tho. :P Once the basketball was over the shred was on. Ok on as we could get. Ken was busting huge. Yes, jeg lag was an issue but it is all relative since we are tiltless semi-guiltless (I know same thing) players. Check Ken's blog for the usual fully detailed well expressed explaination of highlights & thoughts while shredding. :o :P Conrad was hitting pixies & some nice fairy sets. He hit matador for the first time which Ken & I missed. oops. That is what you get when you have to leave the gym for water. He also had some nice combos. I think blur>dimwalk rpt & he was stepping out of drifter/smoke 8O . nice! Josh has some more toes moves in there. Alpine legbeater, fairy mirage & fairy butterfly. Nice stuff. He was also stepping out of osis & dyno a few times. saweet! As for me I had some good runs. 20 or 30 tiltless. Some 15 + guiltless. I was shredding much better at the gym. I got some great pointers from Ken about quanums, atomic, & pixies & where to plant the foot depending on the next move. Ahh food for thought. Also some bonus information too which I already know but sometime things don't click right away. It all depends on how you see it or how you read or hear about it then finally it clicks, somewhat. Call me slow at this age. Put the foot down faster on stepping & go right into dlo's & eggbeaters & think about the last dex on eggs & dlo's. Good stuff. Now I need to practice a lot. I will play around with how my leg goes over when stepping so I can fine tune things.

After Ken's guiltless run with a basketball sealed with a 3 point shot! They stretched while I did 5 or so BOP runs. I had a couple that were at least 20! Feels great when it just flows so easily. Then I stretched & we spend some time driving around looking for this Pizza place Ken wanted to go. Lucky Ken's young & his jet lag was not that bad & we eventually found it. It was pretty good pizza too. Thanks Ken!!! See you next time! Thanks Josh & Conrad for coming along. Hope I didn't have to twist your arm too bad. :D Good times! I will kick tomorrow when I wake up! so much to work on!! later all...

I finally have a chance to update the Unity blog. I kicked on 8/14 for about 40 minutes & did my usual warm up & BOP stuff. Nothing much to say there. It was pretty sad because I didn't kick again till 8/20 for about an hour. SoS there too. I did get my pool table setup so I can start getting my game back. Now I just need time to start playing.

I got my wife all setup in Pharmacy school up in Glendale, AZ. It is about 1 hr 1/2 away so we rented a room up there because the drive would cut into her study time. This has good & bad points. I will now have more time for Footbag, Pool, Kung Fu, & if I get real motivated I can work on my guitar playing & studying Japanese. You know the bad points. When I was in Glendale I kicked on 8/23 for an hour. I drove around looking for a park for 15 mins. There was a nice park right next to a high school that was just getting out. It was funny because I wasn't even warmed up yet & some kids come up to me & give me the usual questions. "Do you play soccer?" "Are you pro?" "Do you get paid doing that?" "Do you get sponsored?" (this was kinda new) Then some younger kids say, "How do you do that?" I always reply to the last one by saying with a lot of practice. I guess they expect a better answer that requires them less work to learn it. The other questions I always reply by saying no I don't play soccer & no I am not pro just intermediate & no I am not good enough for a sponsor. These are pretty boring answers so I need to think of some better ones. I also had a girl give me a dollar. I kindly said thanks & gave it back. I showed then some different tricks & tried to do some long guiltless (haha I mean tiltless) but that day I was just tired. I think lack of sleep & water. It was pretty hot out too. I did have a few good runs. The whole hour I kicked I just tried long runs since there was so many people around. They also asked what is my best trick. I just did a reverse whirling rake. Not sure if that is my best but it is easier when I am tired. They still liked it. I did hit DATW (i-o) bs first try so they where impressed. I also did some juggling with 2 bags so they flipped on that one. Too bad I can only do about 7 or 8 cycles. I need to practice that one more. Ok along with every thing else.

I tried to stay on my night schedule so I was up when my wife was sleeping. I just rented movies. I ended up watching about 10 movies in like 3 days. How lazy is that? It was a good small vacation. The next day (8/24) I kicked for about 2 hours & 40 mins. It was the best kick I have had in a long time. I got some good sleep & drank a lot of water before I got there. It rained the night before so it was cooler out. I got there a little after 5 so not to many people where around. I kicked in the middle of the park under a covered area that has some picnic tables. Good times! I worked atomic stuff & pixie stuff. I mostly thought about what Ken said the last time we kicked. Put the foot down faster & put it down where you need for the next move. Great ideas. Thanks Ken! My atom smashers were feeling pretty good & so where my pixies. I noticed I need to relax more too. I just force the set to much & then it seems to slow down the set & how fast my foot hits the ground. I tried some tapping mirages too. I can get one pretty consistant but 2 is still flaky. Good drill tho. My BOP stuff was pretty good. I can get 10 or 12 pretty consistent & then the left butterfly just wigs out. Oh yeah I did realize that my right pickups I am doing wrong so that is what is hurting my knee. I was always worried to much about whirls when I should be worrying about pickups too since they are part of a whirl. da! Bad habits are hard to break. I worked some stepping stuff too. I worked quantum sets too. Those seem pretty even on both sides. I am sure I will have that down so I can put that in my run soon.
I had a another kid run over to me & ask some questions. He can kick with his right inside only & he seemed pretty interested. He asked a few of the usual questions & said lets have a contest. I said sure. He said try to kick as many as you can with only the insides. I threw him the bag & he said you first. Ok. I was not sure how many he could do so I busted about 50 while I talked to him & he said you got me beat. I can only do 20. I said that is pretty good. Keep at it & work both feet. I showed him a toe stall. Then he had to run off so he wouldn't be late. During that same session I noticed there where about 20 Hispanic guys getting setup to play some soccer. One of the guys asked me if I wanted to play because they needed an extra player. I said no thanks I don't play soccer because I am not a runner. He seemed surprised. haha.
It started to get dark so I went over to the basketball & volleyball court to finish up. I kicked for another 40 minutes & called it good. There we several people playing basketball so I kicked on the volleyball court next to them. Again I got some of the usual questions to top of the night. haha. I had some really long strings. I would say 30+. Yeah yeah I know. Really long for me.

Today I had an hour session in my garage. I finally got my old carpet laid out on half the garage. I need to get some lights up so I can kick at night too. I had the garage open to get some of the night hot AZ air flowing through. haha. The garage is going to work out nice when it gets cold this winter. Ok cold for AZ. I warmed up & stretched. Again I worked some atomic & pixie stuff. I want to keep at this. Then more clippers & BOP stuff. It is funny I keep thinking after a session that I have a better understanding of what I am doing wrong on my weakside clip & then the next session it is the SoS. Today I was thinking I am lifting up my support leg as I set the bag with my stall foot so it throws the set foot up at an angle instead of straight up like it should be. We will see next time. This day I was only getting 10 to 15 butterflys & clip to clips. Ok another million clips & butterflys & maybe I will meet my 100/75 goal for this year. I finished up the session by hitting the punching bag for a while & then off to work.
I was thinking that I need to add more to my goals for this year. Yeah almost over but I want to push myself more.

More goals before the end of the year:
100 clip>op clip
75 infinities
toe blur> toe blur (I haven't hit a toe blur yet)
atom smasher>atom smasher
4 smears on bs
30 osis'
ripwalk>ripwalk (this is to big for me right now so I will have to extend it till middle 07' so I will try these 2)
stepping clip>infinity rpt
stepping butt>infinity rpt
4 tapping mirages on bs
4 whirls & rev whirls on bs

ok that should do it for now. The Unity club should kick this week at Tempe Beach park on Friday 9/1 at 3:30pm. I will send out an email!!! later...

Hey, hey. Nice to hear you were able to kick while you were up here! Here's a little challenge for ya that I KNOW you can do: stepping clip > sidewalk > infinty rpt or sidewalk > stepping clip > infinity rpt.

Toe blur shouldn't be that far away for you, your quantums are looking great!

I'm gonna see if I can go this Fri. Hopefully I'm not that busy with school work and what not!

I kicked for abt 40 minutes today. I just couldn't wake up. You know how you hit the snooze button a few times & before you know it it is 30 minutes later. Anyway.... I warmed up & then worked some CBOP. It is slowly coming along on the weakside. I also worked abt 20 atomic, pixies, & quantums each. I wish I could kick more because things felt good today & were flowing nicely. The garage is going to work great. Speaking of work here I am again.

Josh,
Yeah those drills sound good too. I was thinking those could come later but I will work them in anyway. Sounds like you are having some good sessions too. Barrage? Cool. I figured you could have that one since your DATW (o-i) & is so good. See you friday....

Ken sounds like he is having a good time in NY. We tried to kick with him more but we were just to far away. We will kick with him in Dec. to make him feel more welcome!

Ok I better update while I have a chance. Work has been crazy & I am on my 6th straight 12 hour night. Doh! I kicked Tuesday 8/29 for about an hour. It was a pretty good session. As always I wanted to kick more! I did the usual warmup & stretched like a good boy. I also did the usual CBOP stuff trying to tighten up the weakside clip/butter. I also did some more atomic & pixies stuff. I hit 2 tapping mirages in a row starting from either side. I think I found the sweet spot (that's what she said). Keep it tighter then you think & dex with the hams. That makes it so much easier. I just noticed the balance is a bit different since it feels like you lean forward a bit more then usual. I also hit 2 pixie LO in a row starting from either side too. I have hit like 3 or 4 in a row before but this time it was a bit less hoppy on the LO part. I still can't put the pixie all the way down before I start the LO. I guess I will just have to except it as is for now. I wanted to get it more like Penske does on Fantastik but it is just not my style, yet! Well that is about all the highlights. The garage is working good. I just go out & start to shred! I don't have to waste anytime.

Today the right knee is not feeling tight & sore like it has been. Since I have been taking it easy on my whirls & pickups & concentrating on better form. My right ankle is a bit sore too. SOS there. I just need to slow down on the left clip/butter so I don't tweek it. I noticed Tuesday that I play on my heel way to much on the weakside. Damn it! More work to be done.

Alright then Unity Club will have a good kick tomorrow. Josh says he will be filming so expect some vids soon!

later all...

Ken,

Sounds like you are having fun up there in NY! Glad to know there are some kickers closer to you this time. Good luck with everything.

On with the blog! The Unity club had a good shred on Friday 9/1. It was Josh, Conrad, Nate, Steven, & myself. Good turn out. We meet at Tempe Beach park. It was warm out that day so we elected to kick under the bridge. The cement area was at a bit of an angle so it probably didn't help our game much. We kicked from about 3:30pm till about 8pm. It got dark a little after 7 but we were close to some lights. We slowed down about then & keep trying new tricks & a few different combos.

Steven showed up for about 15 minutes & took off. He said he would be back but that never happened. He said he hasn't had time to kick much since he started school at ASU. I asked him if he seen any hackers there at ASU. I think he said only one. We may have to kick there some time.

Josh was kickin pretty good. Stepping was good as usual. Dyno's were sick. His toe game is slowly improving. He needs to work is left toe more tho! He hit a couple of things but I will let him tell you about it on here or on his blog. He flimed for a while too so he should be putting out some vids in the next few days.

Nate kick for his usual time. About an hr or hr 1/2. Good to see him. I am glad we don't have to twist his arm to much to come out. He was working his guiltless & spinning. He still has it. He just needs to practice more! I say that a lot because I know he has talent & I am trying to give him a little push! nudge....

Conrad was hitting some good stuff. He hit several new tricks which he says in his blog. He had to dust off his blog & revive it. It has been a while since he posted. Besides his new tricks he hit a few strings that had some good genuine tricks.

Me, myself, & I was playing pretty good. I was certainly pleased. My flip clip/butter was not being to much of a pain so that definitely helped. I had several longs runs this day which is always good since most of the time the weakside wigs out. I hit 2 new tricks. Ok 2 1/2 or 3. haha. Flip eggbeater & strongside stepping LO & a thin barfly w/ a hand catch! The last hour or so I practiced my toe blurs. I had a few off the front of my toe. very close. I have to check out some footage to see what I need to do different to make the set come up about 6 more inches. Yes a bit more! To bad not all my runs were on flim because I had 3 or 4 that must have been 30+!

I wrote that pretty quick so ignore my errs. Well time to go home..... until next time!

9/6
20 min session before kung fu practice. I was pretty sore from kung fu the last few days & I just got off of 12 hr shift. doh! I just worked CBOP stuff, a few quantums, & pixies. Nothing big. I hit a couple of 20+ tiltless runs for my kung fu brothers which they seemed to enjoy.

9/8
Unity Session was ON! We started early since I had to spend some quality time with the wife later. We played for about 5 hours. Seems pretty normal. We must be getting used to it. My legs didn't/don't feel to bad. The normal Unity crew showed up. Nate, Conrad, Josh, & myself. It is nice out. Only about 95. haha. Once in a while you get a cool breazing blowing through under the bridge where we played. It is better then the warm air you get when it is 115 out.

Nate was playing good. He hit a DOD x-bod rake. Very stylish & smooth! He got some footage on his camera so hopefully we will have a couple of runs soon. He also said that he would play again this week? 8O Maybe Wed. I should have him sign a contract.

Conrad was hitting some cool stuff. His drifters were working & his stepping stuff. Check his blog. blurry clips, ripwalks, almost blurriest, & almost blurry whirl? damn...

Josh the stepping god was hitting some cool stuff. blurry whirl out of no where! Check his blog too! Conrad & Josh were working on some cool stepping drills.

As for myself I tried at least one trick out the drills they were doing. I hit blurry clip one time on one side. :x Stepping is definitely not my thing. My excuse was my ankle was sore. Ok & I suck at them! :x

highlights & frustrations:
new comb. pixie LO>terrage from one side. I still throw my left pixie to far out to get the LO close enough to do the terrage.
Almost had terrage>terrage & pdx mirage>terrage.
one good barfly.
tapping sucked this day
2 clean toe blurs on one side. Other side was almost there. Still playing with placement & set for the quantum.
all day had less then 10 infinites. :x
14 clip>clip
almost had the DLO>eggbeater & DLO 2x
sloppy pdx whirl on one side.
DSO oneside. other side wigs out on the second dex.
EOS (end of session) wanted to hit 2 30+ tiltless runs. I had a 26, 24, 18, & a few 15's. Had to stop because I was tired & my sets where getting lower & lower after the 15 trick.

Overall it was a killer session for 6 hours of sleep & sore legs before the session started. Good drillin & some new tricks! We will try to average a couple of new tricks each week! We will have to continue to play every Friday & push each other with more drills & challenges. It really seemd to help us out. later all...

But for now check these old pictures I found of Southern California Footbag Championships (28-Apr-2001) & WESTERN REGIONAL FOOTBAG CHAMPIONSHIPS (26-May-2001). Yeah Yeah better late then never!

Finally have a chance to post yesterdays (9/11) session because I was so busy at work last night. I played for about 30 minutes before work. Nothing big as usual since I am not God like, like some immortals out there. I warmed up & then did the usual CBOP stuff. My ankle is still a bit sore from the last to long friday sessions. I also worked toe blurs. I am bound & determine to tighten these up. My left toe is feeling good. I had to 2 roll off my toes the whole little session. The right toe is being a pain in the ass. I am playing with the set to find the right height & trying to bring it in more towards me to make the mirage part of the toe blur easier. I will have to do this on my stepping to make the mirage of the blur easier too since I am always hitting the toe blur & the blur on knee or shin if it is a low set while doing the mirage part. Anyway...Tomorrow night I should get in a 2+ hour session. Maybe with Nate!

Josh... where are the videos from the last 2 fridays?

later...

About the whole video thing, I'm thinkin about putting it with the rest of the "Farewell Shred" footy that I haven't used. I might start working on the vid this weekend.

I might be able to make it fri. I know that I probably won't feel that good next week, seeing as I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled on tuesday.

9/13
Had a good 2 1/2 hr session. Worked the CBOP's, tapping mirages, quantums, & a little pixies. Didn't hit much. I did have a small break through with the weakside clip/butter. I will see if it pays off. It is just a matter of slowing down just a sec while I stall. This maybe the key! Not sure since I feel like I have a break through now & then but then next time I kick it seems like it didn't help. How annoying! :x Also I did some terrages & hit a few really clean ones. I tried to link them but it is still pretty tough. Another Unity session tomorrow!

later..

Friday 9/15

Had a good session with the Unity crew, Nate, Conrad, Josh, & myself kicked for 5 + hours again. It was basicially a drill session. We played under the bridge again.

Nate was hitting some ripwalks & trying to tighten up his sidewalk on his weakside. They definately looks better then my flipside.
Josh had a lot of new tricks & some great combos. Torque>torquescrew, torque 4x, good blurry clip>ripwalk drills, omelete, sumo, rev gray colemen, barfry, etc. Check his blog for an indepth report.
Conrad was hitting some good toe moves & combos. magellen>smear rpt, blurry clips, ripwalk stuff, dlos, eggs, etc. Check his blog too.
As for me I was doing ok. My weak clip did not start out to good but it came together a bit later in the session.

Highlights:
-flip blurry clip
-flip toe blur
-NUCLEAR. :!: .......toe stall. haha  Ok an uptime pdx mirage. I only started to practice that this day so I have some work to do. As for the flip well lets just say it will take a lot more work since my leg just wigs out & usually does not get over the bag.
-22 infinites, 18 right after
-15 clip>op clip
-33 tiltless run & right after 26 tiltless run. It started to go down hill after this since it was late in the session.
-10 mirages>lo>10 mirages>lo>10 illusions>lo>10 illusions. Josh challenged me to hit this at the end of the session . I this the first part 10 mirages>lo>10 mirages.... then I was just to tired. I will have to try that next session. All the consecutives are great for endurance.
-butterfly>pdx mirage>toe blur (good side only) into a small run. I tried this combo on other side but no luck.
Overall a killer session. So much to work on! I feel pretty good today so I will probably kick on Sunday or Monday or both!

Oh yeah a funny pun I came up with a couple of Fridays ago.
"Fairy Nice"
Or when you are trying to get a stepping set like me & it just doesn't work call it a stopping set because it hits your hamstring. I hate that. Or when you are trying a ripwalk & it hits your ass you can call it a seatwalk. I am sure others have better names.
Then on this last Friday.
"Flip-pin crazy"

The first one is the best.
Anyway......

Ok I am not going quitting my job or going on the road so don't worry!

later....

In pic#3, is that Mike McCarthy standing in the background? Maybe you don't even know Mike . . ., but he taught me how to play net last year. Im assuming you DO know him, because you used to be all about net, eh?

Also, if you look carefully, you'll see ME in this picture:

oops1.jpg Im in the red shorts on the left side.

Im also in the back of oops 10, on the left in oops 18.

Sorry to taske up space in your blog, but Hermosa was my first tourney ever, and then Westerns was my second. And you have documented proof of both! How crazy.
My name: Jeremy Mirken, AKA Chocolatey Shatner, AKA jerk enemy rim.
