I don't know what kind of inside stalls you do, but I don't do them with my knee facing inwards and my foot behind me, which is what Takumi was doing when the bag left his foot.
I don't know what the definition of clean surging is, but I can say this about Takumi's cheese processor - he performed the spin before the bag left his foot (he watched it as it left his foot), and he performed the dexterity after the bag left his foot.
This means it's no less clean than when Vasek hits spinning blender out of food processor but doesn't turn into the food processor because it's eaiser to spin out of it that way.

Exactly.
Thanks Nic, but what? You're missing my point. Essentially you and I agree. What I'm asking is who cares if someone's surging is perfectly clean or not? It's like people getting uptight over ripsteins that aren't perfectly 'clean.' There's a big difference between someone blatantly the'ing a trick like a double down and a move that has such a wide range of cleanliness, especially when it's very marginally the, or at least inconsistently the. I completely agree that more people should not listen to the haters and go and hit more concepts that are controversial like shooting and surging.
I disagree Nic- I think you can tell people how to do things even if you haven't done it yourself - authority comes from more than just first hand experience - second and third hand experience is also a source of authority. I often tell Ian how to improve stuff I can't do, I also sometimes call him up on "the" moves that I've never done. You don't have to have hit nemesis to know the definition of the move and be able to judge whether it is "the".
Are you getting at the fact that you have never seen a totally clean surging set by Henrys definition, and thus arguing that such a thing doesn't exist so why not alter the definition? Because if so, I'm sure I've seen such a clean surging defined as set then spin and dex- there used to be a massive surging move in the flipsider massive section with a clean surging.
That said a move doesn't always have to be clean to be rad. But then if he hit in shred 30, would it count for the full score? I guess maybe it would because if you think about it, no one disputes that he is performing the components, its just the order thats the problem??
Personally, in this case I don't care, its rad.
I was indeed getting at the fact that I think surging ducking is near impossible to do totally 'cleanly' by Henry's definition, but he coulden't know that because he hasn't tried.
The clean surging move on flipsider was surging blender by Chad D, and thought he did set before he spun, the set was not even waist hight, I bet he coulden't do the set like that and get it over his head...
Its amazing that he can do that! But it still isnt clean. Just like.... i dont know. If you "hit" symposium trifly but the third dex wasnt quite there, its still impressive

Unfortunately, I have yet to see this vid. But just throwing a thought out there:
Does anybody criticize Vasek's Sick3 at Worlds 2005?
When takumi came back from Worlds 06, he showed me this flipbook which had Vasek's Sick3 from that year (Frankenstein-montage-whirlwind or spin blender). It was a pretty cool book, I think it came in the players pack. Anyway, if you flipped the pages you saw the whole thing like a movie, but if you looked at each individual page, it was like a frame from the video.
The thing that stuck out most to me, was the way vasek set his spins on montage and spinning tricks in general. Looking at the individual frames, you could see the bag was still on his foot "after" the spin. So he'd be looking at the bag, still on his foot, before doing the next component. A little bit like a pulled frigidosis set.
Nobody said: "hey, those spins are froggy, those spins don't count because the bag didn't leave his foot until after the spin." But find that vid and look at Vasek's eyes, and where the bag is on his foot at each part of the spin.
From my understanding, Takumi's surges on this vid are just like that, but with a clean dex afterwards. In really bad surging, no dex happens at all. In Takumi's surging (from the sounds of the critiques) it sounds like he is doing a froggy spin followed by a clean dex. All I'm pointing out is that other players do this kind of froggy spin all the time and never get criticised for it.
I hope I get a chance to watch this video sometime soon, and actually comment on the content of it.
For the hell of it, ill say quite a few people criticise Vasek's spinning style (im not saying if its right or wrong here) but its not really a hot controversial topic like Surging is these days, so it doesnt get much coverage.
I guess its also easier for people to critiscise a young up-and-comer than the guy who already pwns everyone with ease...
Hell yah this vid was great! Especially compaired to the last few releases. It seems like in this one he was actualy shredding, where as the other vids seemed more like a demo feel.
Takumi is skillllled!
Good style but should work on getting things clean.
Also I agree about Vasek's froggy spins - I have heard lots of people comment on this and also Takumi's are also very froggy. The surging sets are worse than the spins though.
if you know a move is the and you still hit it people will comment. If you do not know it is the then people need to comment. You can not correct mistakes if you do not know they exist and if you keep making mistake when you do know it exist you are a fool.
Wow! You sound like a lot of fun to play with! I'll make sure to only do dexless moves if we ever play. I wouldn't want a list of all my "the" tricks after the tournament.
Keep up the sharp eye buddy! We need more athletes like you.
I agree with you Alex. Where I disagree with you is the fact that those tricks were the. Also one should be considerate in alerting someone to the moves, i.e. not writing out a list
In general I think calling the is unecessary unless it is a reoccuring problem, something they obviously aren't aware of, or a trick where cleanliness is very important. But whatever.
