what the fuck is this, brag about your elderly status thread? who gives a shit whether you were born in '67 or '99...you guys act like everyone must know your exact age, because if someone considers you below them intellectually, level of maturity, or any other way, the world will simply end. this turned into such dick-stroking pointless one-up-manship. i dont respect people more because they are older than me, or any less because they are younger, its based on actual qualities of the individual. people get all worked up if they think someone thinks of them as young...i really dont understand what the big deal is.
im 11-teen and i've been masturbating since i was two. how about you?

What a flaming reply....
I posted the pic, for I thought that people would like to know that some of us older players are still in the game. It is inspirational to me, knowing that Richard Abshire is making the best bags on the planet, and he is in his mid thirties....and I am 38, and I looked really good back in 1991...that was my prime....but wait, you would not know about that yet, huh? I respect those that are older, wisdom rings true with age, but again, you know nothing about that either, and you are 11????.....if so, you need to grow up, and realize that everything is not about you. Ciao, Michael

if you care to actually read what i said without jumping to conclusions, you might notice i didnt say the original premise of the thread was bullshit. i as well appreciate the picture and the subsequent history it provides. but there isnt anything on this page, or most of the previous one, that has anything to do with the picture in the least. its just people trying to shine the spotlight on themself based on how long they have been alive. at least you had an interesting story behind it with an impressive picture to boot. if only you had the conversation-comprehension skills to match.
and dont bother saying im only pushing the conversation farther off track, because clearly this IS what people are interested in discussing.
ageism or elitism based on arbitrary characteristics just happens to be a pet peeve of mine. some people get wise faster than others.Phat Matt, who said it best, wrote:this thread has derailed, and this is all just flaming wreckage.

Boy you must need attention
It is poignant to me to read your post. You must need attention, and or don't have a great self esteem, and seem to need the spotlight on you by butting in and saying worthless crap.

I was actually.....
pinching the bag between my feet, and I jumped up and did a king of reverse jester, lol...those were old school tricks. I was just fooling around, and I didn't know he was taking pics...if I had known, I would have done something different...well maybe. The funny thing is...I was wearing Topsiders, for they had flat toe boxes, and the sides were very nice as well. I went to mesh shoes at the 1991 or 92 worlds. Looking back, I can't belive it has come so far, yet we still need to fight for recognition for our sport. Some day the tides will turn. Ciao, Michael

Thanks Cameron
I hang out on a lot of different Forums, and there are always those who want to make something fun...into something miserable and or controversial. It really isn't worth my time to respond to guys like that.
I for one would love to see some of your old photos and or stuff. Footbag didn't start yesterday, but it did start over 4,500 years ago, thus I guess I am not that old, lol. Hope you make it down to San Diego soon my Cameron. PM me when you get the time. Ciao, Michael

Holy crap !!! Vegas Jam '98 !!! (actually took place in Feb. '99, but it was, if I recall, supposed to be the sequel to Vegas Jam '97, which was the sequel to Christmas Jam '96, but we just had the jam a few weeks later than the year before, and thus it was in early '99 instead of late '98 ) Thanks for posting those, Cameron. Brought back some funny memories. Canyon Hart ! (who's the tatooed guy standing next to him in that last picture? I remember that dude... but not that well, obviously, but his killer tatoos were memorable) Is that Wicked Windsor shredding behind Abshire in the second photo? Nice stuff. Thanks again.

It gives me a lot of hope for my game to see someone who's stood the test of time sticking with footbag. I love footbag so much, I just want to play as long as possible. Thanks for the pics... I'm sure I'll be making the same post before I know it
I better start taking more pictures...

I have pictures from xmas jam 95 around somewhere, prolly my parents house.
Did you know ? : Before I met Richard, it was so hard to come by real bags that we made our own. I still have the first bag from the BigToe Footbag Company, stitched by thomas carrol. Tom made my bags for the first three or four years I played freestyle 'with lavers'. Before that I had some flying clipper thing and before that a real brand name hackysack. Somewhere in there I had one of those twisted things.

Hey Cameron....I started with a Hacky Sack....
....then I moved on to Sippa Sippas, one Summer day I met Richie Abshire down in Mission Beach in the early 90s, and that is when I knew I was kicking with the wrong Footbags. I have been using only Abshire Bags ever since, so that makes about 15 years for me.
I wonder who is the person who has the most Abshire Bags, and has played with them the longest??? I bet it is me, or I am a close second...lol.... Boy I wish I was younger though = less responsibility, and more time for Footbagging.
Thanks for the pics again Cameron.... those were some good times for sure.
You can't pick what ya look like, but you can pick how you act, no? Ciao for now, Michael
