as for 3 cars, I think this may actually be a first... I hope the coach doesn't try to cross the border, he has a reputation... and his friend, the other coach is waiting for us in canada anyway... not that you're not all clever enough to know all that yourselves...

RFA,
I have reserved a room at the Rest Inn, the hotel Tom Mosher recently included in his KICKASS thread http://modified.in/footbag/viewtopic.php?t=13959 . They quoted me $85.00 / night, but the man I spoke to did not know what "footbag" was so I imagine once I am at the hotel I will be able to straighten out the $10 difference in cost.
Whomever would like to shack up with me is welcome. We will split the cost based solely on the number of occupants in the room. Private message me or email me [email protected].
Once I start receiving roommates I will post a new thread with the my list of roommates and update that post as more people are added.
Peace.

Alright, I made a slight change in my travel scheduling. I just changed my bus tickets for train tickets (because, I wanted an earlier time and more leg room so that my legs don't cramp up), so here's the scoop:
Sept. 29th, NYC Penn Station > Rochester NY: 7:15am - 2:00pm
Matt, pick me up at the train station!
Chris Dean! Drop your class so that we can go to Canadaland, or have us crash into your class for shits and giggles.
Oct. 1st, Rochester, NY > NYC Penn Station: 4:17pm - 11:45pm
I'm still unsure about this ticket, as things may change for the Sunday trip (footbag golf, hungover freestyle, etc.), so I might cancel this ticket at a local Amtrak station if we plan on staying longer. I bet I can catch a bus somewhere in Toronto to make the trip back to NYC, but it's still too early to know what's really down. Or, if there's an early train/bus on Monday morning for me, I can take it since my one and only class for that day begins at 3:10pm
See you guys soon!
edit:
Oct. 2nd, Rochester, NY > NYC Penn Station: 10:52am - whatever.pm
I just changed my ticket for the return home. Anyone have any crash space for me and willing to drive me to the Rochester Train Station on that monday afternoon?

Waylon, I can skip my class and be done for the day at 1:30, but that still doesn't change the fact that the only bus from my school to Rochester will not get there until 4:30. If Matt wanted to drive here and pick me up here earlier than that, that would be fine. Buuuuuut Geneseo is half an hour out of the way for him so it's a bit of a hassle. I would still need to get a ride back home on sunday though.
What about lodging? Mike's room seems to be full, but perhaps we can arrange to get the room that's joined to it. Between the 10 or 11 of us from all over New York, that would make one hell of a bloc.

Paul,
You and Aaron have been added.
Everyone,
I am officially full, both for the car ride there and the hotel room. I hope you guys bring something soft to lie on, because there is only bed space for four. I can't wait to snuggle.

Last night I hit weaving clip > diving butterfly > repeat and it made me happy. I also hit diving knee bump weaving butterlfy (right foot clip set, dive, left leg knee bump, weave, left foot catching butterfly) both sides and that made me very happy and dizzy.

yo... that first combo doesn't start on the other foot when it repeats, are you sure that was it? Don't mean to contradict, I just want to know your accomplishment
I don't see the weave in the second one either, maybe you mean zulu? who knows, props, you should just show me in person in 2 days

Corrections:
ducking clip > diving same side butterfly > repeat
diving same side knee bump > ducking butterfly
I confused weaving with ducking. Sorry.

KICKASS
Sooo yah KICKASS was pretty sweet. I definitely did not get to play at all. The trip with Mike was really cool, we talked a lot about footbag and some other things. Mike is awesome, and anyone who has a chance to sit and chat with him should! We left late Friday and missed all the shred that day, which was OK with me because I usually kill myself the first day, and do crappy during the competitions. Matt's set was great, he played some familiar stuff that I like along with some new stuff, which was really cool. There were soo many people there that I didn't know, I don't remember the last competition I went to and didn't know half the people there, Worlds maybe... I noticed this one guy sitting in the back of the room, he looked really familiar.. like Erik Chan, but I couldn't tell and there were too many people to jump over there and talk to him. As the night went on I finally got to talk to him, and indeed it was him!! It was really nice to meet him finally, we had chatted on here couple times before, and I had wanted to meet him for a while now. Played some 4-square won a couple times and owned by Marc, a couple times (who is also a pretty damn good juggler). Party ended, got some food at the A&P and crashed after some TV.
Saturday started nice, finally got to into the shred gear and started to play. Played well inside, and played well when we first moved outside. Was feeling pretty good, and I was hitting a lot of my regular stuff along with some of the newer stuff (alpine smoke several times), pdx dlo > toe ducking dlo. Then I made my way over to the circle with Nick and Mike, and I crapped out for awhile. I couldn't hit a lot of my basics.. even BOPs were proving difficult. Watching Nick was pretty slick. He hits some of coolest links, and lots of the less common moves. Eventually I started to hit some of my normal stuff, and some frantic stuff, which Nick complemented and made me feel good. First round circle competition.... Adam Greenwood, Me, Will Digges, and Nick... ugh!!! Fun circle to say the least, Adam may not be the huge fearless shredder but he does have solid basics and some unique stuff. Will is shuffle mad, with some huge combos, and Nick is full of surprises... I played well and managed to hit some of my normal strings (duck/dive, pixie everything, etc) and manage to get lots of crowd response to my nuke and frantic stuff. Will played really well hitting his normal shuffle and some fearless stuff. Nick had some problems unfortunately and only had one or two good strings. Adam played well too, but didn't manage to hit a lot of his unique stuff.
Some more shred followed, but at some point I did something to my hip, and it did not feel good at all. I took this time to run and get some food, stretch and relax before the next round of circle (Ianek, Me, Will, and Gordon). After resting I started to play again, was playing good, hip felt alright and during a string of symposium stuff something went wrong... A sharp pain started in my hip and shot straight to my toes... my whole leg went numb with pain. I instantly passed the bag, and went to stretching. The pain subsided my leg was dull and numb. Circle started 10-15 minutes later and first string i hit butterfly > pdx mirage (rpt) > smear > pixie ss mirage (rpt) > smoke attempt, and my hamstring went nuts.. I felt so bummed out because I knew I wouldn't be able to bust hard. My next 3 or 4 strings were 2 to 3 contacts drop.. Last string was some light pixie stuff to frantic legover > something drop. Will and Gordon spanked me, and Ianek was holding his own, but still didn't quite make it.
I forgot about playing and just watched the sickness from everyone else. Got some 4-square in, and then went to get food with Paul. Shower soon after that, and Me, Mike, Gordon, Dave, Pascal, Louis (Lewis?), and Aiden all jammed into a cab and headed to Juice. Juice was pretty sweet drinks were average for price and amount. I set myself a limit but managed to spend $40 in rum and coke.. hehe, which probably helped contribute to the activities that occurred later
. Finals were sweet, which I got to judge. Gordon and Dave just owned that competition, and it was even close for awhile between Dave and Gordon. Eventually Dave's huge, rediculous strings won by a lot.. It was also nice to see Matt calm down a bit, and do well in the 2nd round. Afterwards I got to have some good chats with Camille and Dave. Then all of a sudden it was time to go, and we all headed outside. Will was trashed... it was funny, between me and Mike the guy made it out like a bandit. Mike carried him on his shoulders, while I kept him from falling off. Then when we got to Tom's carried him up the stairs and to his bed, where he somehow got back downstairs while I talked with some others. I then took him back upstairs, and made sure he stayed in bed. Then it was back to the crew, Mike, Camille, Nick, and Josiah. After standing in the rain for a while and being ditched by the cab company several times I voted to walk. After some groaning we all left, and marched through the rain to the motel. I don't know how that damn song got started, but it started a whole new party that lasted until 6AM. To summarize the party, I made lots of crazy comments in an obnoxious voice, while dancing, falling, drinking, etc. While at the club, between the atmosphere, alcohol, and everything else I got over being injured and not being able to perform and just started to have a good time. I didn't even get drunk that night, but it was still a lot of fun acting like an ass, although I do regret the "dancing" and getting into a fight with the pavement.., my body still hurts and probably will for a while. After a couple phone calls from the front desk we finally all jumped into bed, for about 4 hours until we had to check out.
Sunday I just watched lots of Dave and Gordon... Watching them made me realize how much harder I want to push myself. I'm sick of being injured/tired/sore the 2nd or 3rd day of a competition, and I'm going to start conditioning myself and solo sessioning more often. I want to be much better for worlds this year, and I'm going to be far more dedicated than I have before. Unfortunately, for Paul, this means more solo sessions for him, because I will only have a regular shred session on our normal Sunday Shred day.
Overall I had a great time, it was a lot of fun to hang out with everyone especially the party crew! Hopefully people will still talk to me
.
Now its definitely time to get to work. Looking forward to Cornell!!!!

So yeah, once again I have proven to myself that one of the best ways to get better at footbag is to go to footbag events. Another way to improve one's self is to shred with people better than one's self. I happen to have the honor of shredding with the likes of Matt Cross, Aric McIntosh, Paul Agostinelli, Chris Dean, Will Digges, Josiah Digges, and the list goes on.
Tuesday night I had a great solo shred session. I hit pretty much every move I have ever hit. I hit atom smasher and the atomic set was in my face. I don't know if you know this or not but atomic sets usually kill my hip joint and are rarely successful for me. What I did different was turn at the hips and move a little to the side to clear the bag. It made a huge difference. I also hit double over down > barrage > paradon (almost). I got the paradon dexes around but just couldn't catch the bag.
For a long time I have been struggling with this quite voice in the back of my head that was always telling to me, "You can't do that." Lately, I have been hearing another voice tell me, "You just might be able to do that." My confidence has gone up a bit. When I go for moves like paradox mirage or paradox illusion, I do so without any doubt. That little bit of confidence allows me to play relaxed and save up energy for when I want to try new moves or moves that are more difficult for me. It is not easy to give yourself confidence if you don't have it. One way is to just believe you can do something, and then do it to prove it to yourself.
My flexibiliy has been improving a lot lately too. This is primarily due to playing relaxed. You can stretch a muscle much further when it is relaxed than when it is flexed. Relax, relax, relax, that's what I have to keep telling myself.
I can't wait to shred tonight. Hopefully I will have some new moves or combos to share with you tomorrow.
That's all for now. Peace.

Today was a good day for footbag.
I have been nursing a knee injury since KICKASS so I haven't played very much at all since then. This past week, my knee didn't bother me at all so I was looking forward to today's session, but unfortunately somebody doesn't want me to play footbag because now I'm sick with some sinus infection/head cold. Despite being sick I played as hard as I could anyway, and it went good.
First Mike was playing really well today, tons of long strings usually dropping because he was too tired to go on rather than because of missed stall, etc. Chris was his usual self with lots of nice strings, and hitting some huge combos, which I'm sure he'll post later.
Being sick always drains your energy so long strings were out today, although I did manage a few in the 15-20 range. Flip E-walk felt really good today, I hit it almost every try, which was nice since I have only hit once or twice in the past. Hit vertigo both sides and almost bsos. Footed some flip stuff and some new combos which hopefully I'll hit next time. It was a good day indeed. Probably going to be sore and tired the rest of the week but it was worth, just hope next sunday goes half as well as today.
Highlights:
zooming clipper bsos (new move flip side)
vertigo bs (new on one side)
Frenzy bsos
hyper ss symple butterfly (bisymposium parkwalk)
locomotion
pixie ducking da da curve > blurry da da curve (6>6
)
E-walk > bedwetter (close on flip side, need more work on eggbeater)
pogo knee bumping symple butterfly

We finally had music at an RFA session! That was the biggest highlight of the day IMO. But there was some other good stuff...
Aric's dada link was mucho impressive. It's crazy hard to step out of big dada moves, especially when they are that clean (no ass-dex). Props on proper execution!
Mike is REALLY good. As soon as he showed up, he hit something like a 30 guiltless string off his first contact. Spinning looks great, and so does all the variety. Most notable are the double dexes everywhere, and the level of fluidity and control while stringing toe ducking moves, which totally baffles me.
I played alright, some pretty good stuff here and there. My form and control felt really sloppy and I was fumbling with most downtime components. Lots of rolloff and hitting the bag while dexing. Too much bailing also. We played hard for about 3 hours though, so it was a solid practice session. I hit some good combos, like Phoenix>Alpine Blur repeat, Barfly>Torque repeat, uhh some Spinning Blenders too and all my typical stuff.
Three to four people is an okay size for a weekly session, but more is better. Anyone hear from those Pittsford kids? Doug Tank and the others, do you still read the boards? We'll probably be playing indoors from now on, but we're always around on Sunday afternoons.
See everyone next sunday.

This last Sunday shred session was incredible. First off I think everyone there hit something new or a new combo or something. There were quite a few times when someone hit something and you could just tell they had been shooting for it for a long time.
Aric busted pretty big considering his sinus infection and how sick he was. He hit e-walk > bedwetter and lit up like a light. I know he has been trying to hit that combo for months. His strings were not their usually length, but that didn't stop him from hitting big moves - just check his move list in his previous post.
Chris was doing what Chris does, hitting nuclear this, atomic that, and quite a few moves I don't know the names for. He had some trouble with his right clipper for awhile, but then got it back and hit pheonix > alpine blur > repeat. He hit other impressive combos but again I don't know the names to all the moves he hits so it makes it hard for me to remember what he hits.
As for me, I am not really sure what happened to make my shred go so well. I had solo shred sessions everyday last week except Friday and Saturday. I took those days off only because I did not have time to shred. Then midday Saturday I noticed my left ankle was sore. I attributed it to all of the spinning I drilled Thursday night. Either way, I expected to go to the Sunday session and shred lightly to keep my left ankle from getting worse.
In order to get to the shred spot I had to take quite a few flights of stairs and jog up and down hills, all the while thinking to myself that this would probably help warm me up for the session. When I arrived at the session I was partially out of breath as running is not my forte. I got underessed down to my shorts and t-shirt and joined the circle.
When I got the bag, I decided to start small with mirages and legovers to test the ankle. The ankle felt fine so I threw in a ducking clip to ducking clip. Next thing I know I'm all over the place with paradox this and that and pixie this and that. I felt like I was lost in a zone or something. I remember thinking a few times, "Oh wow, I didn't drop it. Might as well keep going."
Some of the moves and combos I hit that I remember are:
- smear > toe blur (both sides)
- butterfly > paradox mirage > smear > ducking mirage > repeat
- butterfly > paradox illusion > smudge > ducking illusion > repeat
- paradon > barrage (BSOS)
- pixie same mirage > repeat
- terrage > double switchover (BSOS)
- paradox mirage > smear > dimwalk > repeat
- spinning illusion (BSOS)
- paradox eggbeater (both sides)
- paradox double legover (both sides - sloppy, very sloppy)
- toe set weaving legover > diving legover > weaving legover > diving legover (all same side)
Looking forward to next Sunday.
