Well Bush and the major powers are condemning the Coup so it must actually be a good thing right? I don't know much about Thailands government, but it looks like the Prime Minister was a scoundrel and that must be why Bush preferred him to be in power.
To quote a famous American document:
"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. "
It seems to me that the Thai people had a history that led to the need for democracy which became horribly abused and now needed a revamping.
Thai Coup
I was told by a co-worker that Thailand has had 18 such coups in its history. Which leads me to believe that the military is simply following protocol. 
The memo they sent out said something like "Pardon us for the inconvience", like this was a minor matter. This did nothing to shake tourism. I'm sure any Americans there now are simply enjoying the show of military might. If you can call rolling around in tanks waving to people might.
Interesting enough the guy they are ousting is a billionaire. Should be no skin off his nose, unless he tries to return. He might then lose the nose right off his face literally.
For now I am watching it happen like a re-run of "What's Happening" (hey hey hey). No deaths, no blood, victory in like an hour, how boring.
More interesting is what Chavez is saying, and how an alliance of middle eastern countries are ralling against us. "We are doomed".
What does that mean? I predict several things will happen the day the enemy invades America:
1.) If you are not native born, get out or hide. Rednecks stockpile weapons just for this occasion.
2.) Many, many, many lazy and over wieght Americans will die from lack of physical assertion.
3.) The government will go into hiding - like Cheney during 9/11
4.) Our military will kill both the enemy and civilians that get in their way.
5.) Banks will close until it is over.
In the end, if this is a human war many will die - but the country will recover.
If this is a terrorist attack (or multiple attacks) on commerce, forget America and move to Canada - cause we're already broke.
