a noob had to piss me off..

Post by Days »

Okay well at school yesterday, i came up to this guy kicking this crochet bag, well let me just list the things he said that pissed me off

bragged about his crochet(called it the best because its from brazil or somewhere which i dont even believe)

i asked him why he wasnt doing any stalls, now he could of just said he didnt know how, but instead he says, ''there useless and a gimmick'' now this is coming from the same guy who caught his bag on his shoulders and called it a stall

called me ignorant about the hobby i play,(he was calling it hacky sack and saying stalls are useless whos the ignorant one here?)

also he disagreed that delays are not important for hard moves, which i bet he doesnt know shit about

Don't take this as any sort of personal attack, I just want to point something out.
Its all relative, I'm sure there are footbag fanatics out there who will read your post and be annoyed at you for posting the same old, I hate hacky sackers and their ignorance jive. You're totally entitled to be pissed off if you want to be, your welcome to post about it (although its always a good idea to browse the forums or do a search first because you'll probably find a thread to post in rather than have to start another one), but just remember being pissed off, and posting about it isn't exactly the most productive approach to any situation. If a dude wants to be a hacky sacker not a footbagger so be it, no skin of your nose, sure tell him/her about footbag.org and modified and flipsider so s'he can make an informed decision, but not all hacky sackers need to be converted, some will be happier in their bubbles where they rule the hacky sack world because they can do some flyers and unusual stalls.

I don't think anyone needs to be converted, this is a sport not a religion. It seems like some people get that confused...

And yeah, there was another thread on this exact topic started 2/3 days ago, it's directly below this one...

But really, some people take it way too seriously. Feeling really bad about not joining hack circles, getting pissed off when people are ignorant, always joining hack circles to try and get new players. I'm not meaning this to be a personal attack on anyone. I know we all want more players, but some act like footbag is the saviour of the world, when in reality it is a mere sport. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally addicted, but I don't think it's any different to, for example, skating. It just so happens that footbag is the sport I love, but it could have been any sport. (Yes I know the community is a unique aspect of footbag, but for me that's a bonus, I shred for hours on my own every week and you can bet that has nothing to do with community)

I also really don't want to rag on anyone for trying to spread the word, just sometimes people get carried away with it all. Just some thoughts.

= exaclty

correct procedure was to say, "ur bag aint so hot compared to mine" > whip out handmade 32, brag a bit...> again reply, "so, u say stalls aren't important?, hold my bag" > bust huge string of tricks. *watch as his jaw drops*

then finish with, "Oh yea, now that's what i call skill."

If I were still a hacky slacker and someone did that to me.... I would just throw away my footbag.

He was probably on the defensive. If he couldn't hit any delays of course he would say they are lame, merely as a defense so it doesn't seem like he's bad. That's what teenage kids do.

Anyway lesson to be learned here is not to worry about what other people think. He's just some kid. So what. Don't let it bother you. It's not worth getting upset over.

What is this? I don't like these approaches at all, since they're pretty egocentric and will only make the person scorn footbag that much more. If I were a hacker, I would hate you, footbag, argue/yell, and walk away. Just play some hacky with the guy, and bust some cool tricks/a cool string with his crochet. Not in the sense that you're purposely showing off, but showing him possibilities beyond kicking. Be friendly :!: That'll show him that you have some skillz with the hack. If he becomes interested, even if he is a kicker, he'll look into it. No need to convert, just be social.

There is Netbag, you know, even if it is the darker side of footbag.

lol dude... its just a joke.

i'd never be that mean to a person on purpose. i'd probably really just show him a few stalls and why they're good, then if he wanted, i'd show him how to do them... nothing big

I don't think a huge load of grimy sweat and short shorts can attract a lot of girls. Ever.

Unless if you're Brad Pitt or George Clooney.

3. Calls it footbag. only. Doesnt give a shit when others call it hackysack/hack because it doesnt matter.

True that. I almost pee myself when I see someone elsa from my school kicking a crocheted hacky around, at least they're playing (or at least thats how I see it, seeing as the only other person I know close to me who enjoys playing footbag is Guthrie, every body else is like hackey slack maaaan).

And another thing, not to like rag on you or any thing, you said that you came up to him kicking his hacky sack, so oyu kinda didnt have any right to be there showing the awsomeness of footbag.
But thats just me, just like dont be so hositle with people you see hacky sacking, Cause its not cool to be down with hostility.

But it would of been different if he came up to you and started saying that stuff. Then you should be like " Wanna see somthing crazy!!!????"

Who cares what he thinks after that.
