as for the bleedholes...i think freestyle requires them because of the sutlties of play, just like like a bass, you need to be able to fine tune/calibrate/mess with the action, for it to play just like you want it too.
but for circle kicking and 4 square it doesnt matter that much. my fav square bag is a Juice, about the size of marks bags
... but yeah thats how much GOOD, VINTAGE upright basses go for... mine cost about 1500, its new...its romanian.. solid top, laminate back and sides...my electric is a 1980 G&L L1000, first year of Fenders 2nd company, its sweet. i just saw my old friend play a show with a 5 string fretless elrick (their based here in chicago) its nice, yknow, 3k+ boutique basses....my skill level cost $200, the price of my first bass...a cheap ibanez which i defretted at some point...
