I'm happy to finally announce the trailer of Bringing out the Shred. As many of you know, the movie has been already screened in a few tournaments and the DVD is finally available. For those who don't know what I'm talking about go check http://www.botsmovie.com

It is encoded using Xvid for video (1984kbits/sec) and Lame mp3 for audio (128kbits/sec). It is subtitled and duration is 1:26.
There is also a quicktime version, which can be found from this LINK
About the DVD release. PAL version is now available and NTSC is on its way to our reseller at America. The dvd is a top notch product printed professionally like commercial movie dvds. From BOTS website you can find our resellers (at the moment available at planetfootbag and FFA). The dvd includes following features:

Amazing trailer, Jere!!
I kind of like how you barely showed any freestyle in the trailer, and when you did it was cutting in and out before even showing what moves were being hit, and showing the pendulum.
Mikko L. looks like a really good actor!!

arggg i cant wait until this is out, that trailer was amazing. does anyone know what the best way to purchase this DVD in the US will be?I had the privlege (yes I said privlege) of watching this film near its first release, and I have to say, it was spectactular. The opening credits alone show the quality and work put into the entire short feature. Alot of the editing was very well done and the story flowed very well. I really liked how it played off the fact that footbag isnt really that well known by making it a secret underground organization in the film. Good stuff =].
I definatly will be purchasing my own copy and I definatly recomend others to do the same.

i was fortunate enough to see a screening of this at the us open. i have seen and own just about all of the big footbag movies, sick 03, fourkast, champions league, etc and this outshines them all by a lot. this is by far the best footbag movie i have ever seen. everybody and anybody who can get it should. also i was wondering if freedom footbags will be carrying it, it would be alot easier that way for us here in north america.

I got that itch last week after watching Bringing Out the Shred. I
knew I liked it. I knew it was amazingly well produced. I knew the
shred in it was really hardcore. But I still didn't quite know what
"it" was. "It" was something totally new and different, which was
defying every attempt I made to classify it, to mentally process it.
BOTS showcases lots of world-class shred, but it isn't a shred video.
BOTS has a story and Hollywood-level production values, but it isn't a
movie. BOTS is about footbag; the athleticism, underground appeal,
and camaraderie of the sport are all represented in 38 visually
stunning minutes. But BOTS isn't a footbag documentary.
So what is BOTS? BOTS is something completely new, something the
footbag scene has never encountered before. As such, it isn't logical
or fair to approach it with the expectations you would have of a shred
video, a movie, a documentary. BOTS is like the scratching sounds on
Herbie Hancock's seminal 80s single "Rock It." Before that single,
mainstream culture had never heard a turntable used as an instrument.
They had nothing to compare it to. But they knew it sounded good, and
the more perceptive listeners realized it was the birth of a new and
exciting genre.
BOTS is the good-looking child of a shred video and an art film.
While neither genre is famous for its clever plotlines, that's not the
point of them either. Similarly, BOTS tells a story, but what sets
this film apart are its stunning visuals and its creative showcasing
of footbag in new ways.
BOTS tells the story of an undercover cop (Mikko Lepisto) who
infiltrates an underground gambling racket that revolves around
illegal footbag contests. While some could dismiss the premise as a
mere vehicle for showcasing footbag in a movie format, the actors all
turn in very good performances. That said, the storyline is the
weakest aspect of the project, often raising questions it never
answers, and sometimes serving as an excuse for gorgeous visual
displays which don't advance the story forward. Still, the story is
enough to hold the project together, and shows the potential that a
footbag-centered movie has. It's a step up from Jackie Chan films,
but not in Oscar territory.
What ARE Oscar-worthy are the production values and editing. Footbag
has never looked this good. I repeat: footbag has never looked this
good. Everything from the lighting, to the clarity of the image, to
the angles are all stunning. You will never find yourself asking "was
that clean?" because even the slow-motion shots are crystal clear.
The songs for the footbag sections compliment the action well, and the
variety of angles and different planes in shots keeps the action
visually fresh throughout. This was especially important, since 90%
of the movie is composed of blacks and whites (the movie is in color)
to complement the film-noir atmosphere of the story. There is a good
balance between footbag and non-footbag scenes, and the movie finds
ways to make even regular conversations visually interesting, using
clever cuts and artistic scene transitions.
This attention to visual quality would make even an intermediate
footbagger look incredible, but when the players in front of the
camera include the likes of Felix and Juho Marjo, it takes it to
another level. The actual level of shred on this video is
world-class; there are several moves and combos on this video that you
have never seen before, and that very few players in the world could
hit. While I expected this level of play from the aforementioned
players, I was very surprised and impressed by the level of play from
Janne Pessonen and Aleksi Airinen. If one were to make a video
comprised only of the shred scenes from the movie, it would be amongst
the better shred videos on the market today.
BOTS is a very ambitious film, seeking to portray world-class shred in
a format that has never been attempted before, using a storyline and
top production values. In almost every way, it succeeds. Is it a
movie you can watch with your girlfriend on a Saturday night? No. Is
it the best produced visual footbag product ever made? Quite likely.
Is it something that footbaggers will have fun watching, and be
impressed by? Most definitely.

Having never been to Scandinavia, there were many things I did not
know about Finland before seeing Bringing Out the Shred. For example,
did you know there are major underground gambling rings surrounding a
little-known sport called "footbag" which keep police detectives busy on
the heels of organized crime? Yeah, no kidding. While the thought of a
hacky sack® movie may not appeal at first to most people, BOTS is far
beyond what anyone could imagine from the subject.
Combining stunning visuals of a new brand of stark cinematography- or
perhaps one underused in recent decades- with a gentle yet gripping style
of narrative storytelling, Jere Vainikka's BOTS is a first of its kind, in
content and form. Great talents enact on both sides of the lens, but as a
viewer it is easy to become ensconced in the magic as the story unfolds.
Did I say story? Yes! Better than that of any Van Damme action flick or of
the five (and presumed six) Rockys. This one has decent character
development and an original plot, enacted by a surprisingly impactive
cast.
If honest to goodness filmmaking is not enough to keep your attention,
Vainikka's incredible camera and editing techniques evoke the
spectacular nature of this hardly known sport, involving a whirlwind of
spinning and flailing legs kicking around a little ball. If you are already
familiar or even entrenched in footbag, then you too will be amazed. Not
only are the skills cutting edge, innovative and awe-inspiring (yes,
majorly sick tricks & combos!), they are presented in such a way that
makes all other footbag videos look laughingly amateur, including my
own.
While 38 minutes is not feature-length, the quality Vainikka delivers is as
good if not better than many features of far more sizable budgets, and
deserves much respect for his feat, as well as all those involved. I can
only hope BOTS gets the exposure and sales it deserves, though I am
content knowing it will stir the same fervor in those fortunate enough to
experience The Shred.

in my awe, I wasn't able to expose any of the GREAT FEELINGS STOKEDNESS that are pulsing through my veins right now. ...I still can't. O.M.F.G. This will be the illest thing since the creation of toilet paper, and prolly even iller then that.
...If I had to choose between the two inventions (toilet paper & the Bots movie) my decision would be obvious. Entertainment before hygene!!
