too much help...help!

Post by BenRea »

I just think that my parents try to help too much, maybe its normal for parents to act that way with their children but I refuse to be raised like in that manner. How am I going to get through college if they don’t start to let me learn how to be responsible? Telling me to be something I can’t is impossible; I have to achieve this on my own. They always complain about me being irresponsible and forgetful but that is only because they feel that I am incapable of discovering a way of being who I want to be. They don’t have to tell me who I am and who I am going to be, it is my decision. They are the ones creating problems for me; they are the ones who make me irresponsible and forgetful because they have always tried to give me too much help in life. I know they want to help, but why can't they understand that it's not working?

just consider yourself lucky. you have parents that care about you. i could give you the speech about how there are millions of kids around the world who dont have parents or their parents beat them and make their life hell, but the starving kids in china would be jealous  :(

ive been having problems with my mom too. but thats because she wont grow up and act like shes a parent. she just likes to complain and yell all the time.

parents will be parents. most dont "let go" of their children until they graduate college. they just dont want you to mess up. momma bird decides "today will be the day ill let them learn to fly" and she gets disappointed because all her baby birds do is jump from the nest and hit the ground really hard. shes gotta let you try a couple times before she sees you can actually do it without her. its hard for parents to let their kids go. your parents have taken care of you for (i guess 17 or so) years. it hurts them when one day their kid says "i dont want your help. i can do it without you."

so yeah, my momma bird and baby bird story is lame. maybe ill add midgets and rockets to the story to make it cool.
