Rod Lavers *extremely* uncomfortable.
Me and my friend both have Rod Lavers and we agree they are completely uncomfortable. Can't even walk home in them. Basically the arch is way too far forward and every step just aches my foot after 5 minutes of use. Has anyone else noticed this? Any quick inexpensive fix? I can't rip out the soles either because the glue is too strong and after a few days wear it can't evenly come out.
You can't rip them out all the time in the least. I will say I can't because it can't be done. I can take the thing out sure, with half of it stuck to the bottom. So, no, that does NOT work. My friend's came out fine, but he did it the second he got his. And I already have two Dr Scholls insoles (one for casual, other for more athletic stuff), and neither work ontop of the insoles. Way ahead of you.brinard wrote:you can rip out the insole, and dont say you cant.
people have done it, just like i have.
just take out the insole, and get new ones.
drscholls should do the job, or those other ones (the expensive ones)
that i cant remember the name of.

and don't walk in your lavers. that's straight beat style right there.
if you wear your lavers any time other than when you're having a session, or are on your way to or from a session, you're pretty much a chump.
I wouldn't wear them to school unless you want people to think you're weird.
problem solved.
oh and rip out those bunk insoles. it doesn't really matter if you replace them, because insoles don't do anything, but the ones in there will only make you worse because they're so impossible to grip. peace.

If you can't get the insole out, then you're not trying hard enough. If you want it to be easier to pull out, soak them in very hot water. This will eliminate the glue.
If you already started pulling it off, and it didn't come off in one stride like it has for many people, including myself, then get an exacto knife and start chipping away.
My first pair sucked balls, and it took me a very long time to get the insole out. I soaked my second pair in hot water, and the insoles came out quicker than a gay boy who just graduated high school. My last pair's insole came out no problem without soaking.
If you want a fail proof system, soak your shoes, do it slow, and have an exacto knife handy. You'll get it man, I promise you!
peacezilla.

I wear my normal shoes to school, and used to wear them modified a LONG time ago, and you're right, it's weird. Haven't done it forever. I'm actually though just planning to lace them up normally, clean them up, and all other modifications are pretty much hidden just from that. The shoes are pretty good looking anyways.sb wrote:and don't walk in your lavers. that's straight beat style right there.

And don't have enough room in my backpack or anything like that to keep my shoes, so it's either I wear them all day, or they stay home.
I'ved exacto-knifed at it for atleast an hour on my last attempt. It simply does not come off. I've tryed hot water with it and it doesn't even seem to reach the glue. I'll give it one last attempt and see if it works.save.cullen wrote:If you can't get the insole out, then you're not trying hard enough. Well, ever a year's worth of wear everything came off a bit easier. Smacked in the new insoles and it still doesn't help much. This is confusing as hell. I know the problem. Yet I honestly don't know what to do. New shoes would be an answer but if read my post, I say "inexpensive" meaning I don't have money for new shoes or anything else for that matter.

g units are on sale for 40 dollars
leather lavers are on sale for 30 dollars
instead of complaining on the internet you could spend that time working for a day at mcdonald's and buy yourself a pair - or you can play barefoot until you have enough allowance saved up (or however it is you get your money)
perhaps your shoes are too big and that's why it seems the arch is too far forward. I agree, lavers are very uncomfortable.

I get no allowance nor can I get a job at my age. My Lavers are actually a size smaller than what I normally wear (They are 12s, I wear 13s) but I heard snug is good. And I'd get G-Units, but I'm REALLY not a fan of rap. Or rap culture. Or anything related.
If your big toe touches the leather strip of the Laver's toebox, then that's snug. Once you get the really snug sizing for that, Lavers should conform to how your feet are shaped.hackeysnacker wrote:perhaps your shoes are too big and that's why it seems the arch is too far forward.
Maybe your feet are wide, and therefore are uncomfortable concerning the arch. NB CT 520s are still in existence and you can still find a great pair in a good price range. CT 300s would be my preferred pair, but they just don't make them anymore, I guess.
Dr. Scholl's suck. They tear apart within a month or two after some serious shred. Spencos insoles is the widely used replacement sport insole. If you're not a fan of shock on your feet, get the crosstrainer ones. Maybe orthotics seeing that your feet are in pain.
And whether a pair of shoes are based on a cultural stigma that of which is based on a rap or hip-hop society is not concerned here. That's just silly. You buy shoes based on performance and comfort, not how they look and are generally viewed as.
Maybe I should mod a pair of Doc Martens and see if I can integrate both punk rock and footbag altogether in one beautiful union.

doc martens are for chumps, if you wana be punk get some hitop black converse, just like the ones i'm trying to trade in the for sale sec.
id say...dont use an exacto yet, use a nice flat head screwdriver, and just push it under the sole, that way you don cut up anything you dont want to.

1. Lavers are indeed uncomfortable shoes.
2. Only wear lavers when you play footbag. The soles wear down so fast, its a waste to wear them down further when you aren't playing.
3. g-Units are wider on the feet, and cushion better, so I find them to be extremely comfortable.
4. You can get g-Units online for $40 or less very easily.
5. The insoles of Lavers are terrible, and should be replaced with good ones immediately, just for the sake of your legs.
6. The original laver insoles DO come out, despite the ridiculous glue.
7. Not buying G-Units because you don't like black people is ridiculous. I don't like tennis or Australia (OK, I like some Australians), but I bought and wore Rod Laver Tennis shoes for 8 years. I hate golf too, but if I found a golf shoe which worked better than G-units for footbag, I'd be a fucking idiot not to buy them.

if you're worried about what your shoes represent just because what they say on the ankle... then you have more problems than shoes. units come in a lot of colors... and different styles. there are those la dodger units that dont even say g unit on them.t1337dude wrote:And I'd get G-Units, but I'm REALLY not a fan of rap. i think youre making a big deal about something you already know the answer to. youve made your point. you dont like lavers. you asked for opinions and suggestions. people gave you opinions and suggestions. if you want a good pair of shoes there are a lot of people out there that like lavers. why dont you just sell them and buy you some climas or units or quantums? and if youre not old enough to pay for things online then just get someone to trade you.
or if you want to try to salvage your lavers then do the hot water and xacto to get the insole out. if there is some extra stuff left then just soak that too and get some pliers to remove them cleanly. you only have a few options and i think all of them have been presented to you.
the word on your shoe does not represent who you are. when you cut them up to mod them that gives the shoe character. if you see someone wearing shoes and you see what mods theyve done that tells you more about their style than a word on your ankle.
name brands do not brand you.
edit: i dont think you have to be a certain age to rake yards or clean gutters. leaves are falling and every leaf could mean cash.
