yeah the problem with using our own music is you gotta keep profanity in mind, alot of young children our at this event.
I can make a days worth of variety music without profanity, 2 other people do the same.
Lets just assume 3 different peoples music should make everyone happy with variety in music taste.
be very very thorough about your profanity screening if one swear word drives a family away from learning about this sport than you should feel shame.
really we can have as many people as possible put up thier mixs, but if that profanity slips through then i dont think zeke tom and scott wont hesitate to unplug your shit and say thanks but no thanks

I'd like to hear constant drum n' bass with no vocal music whatsoever...
Not many people agree with me though. Hehehe.

I do tend to like vocal-free music a lot, especially when it's good to shred to, but having all of the music be instramental only would get boring for me after a while. Well, I can't say that for sure because I've never tried it, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try something along those lines, but my good guess is that I would get tired of it after 40 songs unless it was all different sounding (like not just drums and bass, but other instruments)Skippy! wrote:I'd like to hear constant drum n' bass with no vocal music whatsoever...

yeah thats been the issue is even if its the kind of music you want to hear its a 3 day event so variety truimps preference in this case.
I have a good mix of vocal upbeat rock/emo/indie/hiphop.
Last year we had the same techno, drum and base mix rolling the whole time it felt like.
If you have a serious music preference just have a music player with a no profanity play list hook it up.
we can be diplomatic and if/when someone gets sick of the music after the same playlist has been running for a while then just ask for it to be changed, keep it fresh keep it different and shred on. Hopefully everyone can end up hearing music they really enjoy for a bit and music they can tolerate for the sake of variety the majority of the time.
No offense to scott davidson but I think he is the only person who likes his music mix, maybe its just a clash of age group/culture but i prefer to hear as little of it as possible. Im speaking for alot of people on this not just myself, i dont think a single circle i jumped in didnt make a remark about his tunes. sorry scott just being honest

Ha!, thats what i thought the first time i heard of it. drum n bass is a style of electronic music, it all basically follows this one drum pattern, and then everything else in the mix is the creative aspect. its not just drums and bass.(like not just drums and bass, but other instruments)
I've got lots of interesting music, yeah i know some of you might have heard some crazy shit from me, thats just cause I've pretty much heard it all, and i get bored and look into all sorts of crazy world music. right now i'm into, obscure old school funk (i just got this rza compilation, kickass) hiphop, old cuban music, zappa....
have you guys noticed abstract jazz (noise jazz) being played more? or is it just me, its interesting, but can be really boring.
Plain, with everything.
I dig it.Skippy! wrote:I'd like to hear constant drum n' bass with no vocal music whatsoever...

Honestly I'm down for everyone's music. - except Scott's... and tom petty... and fucking matisyahu!! sorry prolly just messed up lots of people's grills. but i want to say tom petty and matisyahu re great - just not to shred to. But Rusted root always sucks - sorry scott - oh dave matthews band sucks always too.
Please don't relpy saynig that i suck b/c i think matisyahu and rusted root are no good to kick to. Put cool playlists together on your mp3 players, and bring em in. try and think of what everyone might like to kick to. We'll have music ready and swap out with whoevers if necessary.

The music and club stuff is such a non issue though. Even if we have no music it will be amazing (but of course we will have music. And good stuff if Dank comes!)

Hell yeah Gray! You also have to get a car and come out to Santa Cruz more.
Music selection :
No offense but uhm.....
you know, I don't think there's anyway I can say what I want to say without being offensive.
So I'll just say... IMO, drum&bass/techno/electronic, hiphop and rock are good...but I'm not going to bitch and moan about anything anyone plays.

the key word is upbeat. So whatever boring lame emo music your expecting to hear or you want to talk trash about is not the music i would have on this playlist.
Actually the "emo" music i would have on my playlist is all stuff i have heard players use in videos. That doesnt mean you will or have to like it, but im sure it will all be tolerable.
variety is key, its a long tournement with loads of people, there is no way to keep everyones music tastes in mind.

I'm pretty sure we should just play this track on repeat the entire time.
