I voted the Mirken. It's a very sweet bag, straight out of the box (so to speak). Although my opinion is a little biased as I've never kicked with an Abshire. I've had a go with a Carol, but it was not broken in, and I found the bag to be too light for my liking (coming straight from the HotPotato Auror sand bag http://www.hotpotato.com.au).
I've found that another bonus with the Merkon is that if the filling gets pulverised, it's so simple to refill - or even alter the weight to your liking. It's easily modified.
I own a medium Mirken and would like to try a small, but medium is definatly the size to get if it's your first buy.
Also, I chose black, green and yellow. Don't do that. Try to pick some more contrasting colours (see thread on footbag colours), so when the bag get's dirty, it doesn't look like it's just different shades of black, with a band of dirty yellow thrown in. The black and green don't look too good.

go with a 32 panel. No offence to sandbags they are great. However, I have noticed that people who kick with a 32 often dont have much trouble kicking with a sandbag. On the flipside (no pun) I've noticed people who use sandbags have trouble kicking a 32 panel... For me this sucks cause i was kicking good with my 32 but the people i wanted to kick with in vegas liked sandbags so i switched circles. They attempted to kick with me in my circle, but said they were too use to sandbags and switched circles. I used a sandbag getting back into the game, and when i first started we loved dirtbags, but once i got back into the game i couldn't wait to use a 32. It really doesn't matter which one (ritchie or a carol, ritchie, mirken, wilson, jane jones, mel schnieder, etc,) as long as they are broken in. Im sad to see carol so low on the list, obviously not many people here have kicked with a really good carol, but i guess she doesn't make bags much.

they're all mixed beads
See, I have a problem, I can't tell the diff, as long as they are broken. Sure if it's tiny, I'll know its Merkins, but thats beside the point.
When Sunil came, I liked his carol the best of his bags.
When Abshire came, I did great with an abshire.
When Vegas jam came, I liked Windsors Carol the best of the bags there.
Now mega has a Merkin, and I love it.
I think I aggree with Wicked, I like 'em al, just broken in and right fullness, they are all very skilled.
Mirken's are the cheapest though...anyone think Richie will go down on his prices now that there is no blurry world? I'm sure he paid Damon something...
Just to note, Vasek like Carols the best (or did, correct me if I'm wrong Honza) and Abshires have been around the longest so I figure that if one of them is good, he's been making them so long that they are all that good.

It is too hard to say that 1 bag is the best. . .it really depends on ones kicking style.
Although I consider myself a better toe player than a clipper player, what I aspire to be is great at both facets of freestyle. Thus, when I school at home I use, primarily, two bags: one is a small to average size MIRKEN (check the spelling please) and the second is a large CAROL bag. The Mirken is great cause its pretty broken in, and cause its small, it is easier to make quick dexes with it. I like to kick with the carol because it makes me a more efficient dexer. Because of its larger overall size, ones dexes must have a larger circumference, thus to pull off the same moves that you do with a smaller bag, you have to make the dexes quicker and tighter around the bag.
In competitions I have only used Richie bags. For learning new moves, I primarily use Carol bags. For everyday shred sessions, schooling, and miscellaneous other crazy shit, I use my own bags.

ps- I am ordering my first wilson bag!!!! (I am excited)
And I also have a Felix bag, and so far I really like it.

heres some thoughts from my experience.
mel bags = its really lite, and i like the filler a lot, i think you have to take down your stalls and make your dexes much better. it really tests your style, cuz everything has to be dead on. i played with a mel about 2 months ago, and played with THE SAME mel yesterday, and it is really good now.
carol = first time i played with carols, i didnt like them. they seemed to big, and to floaty, and so light. then yesterday i played with like a 2 week old carol and its the best bag ive ever played with. go figure.
abshire = i own 2 of these bags. they take a while to break in, but once they are broken in, dude, they are delicous. i bleed mine 5 beads, and it just makes it really good. i hated it when it first came, but now i love these since they're broken in. i would reccomend an abshire if you dont mind breaking it in.
lonn irish = pete irish's wife stitches these. its an alright bag, seems to light for me. ive played with it a bit, just not my bag of choice.
those are all the bags i feel i can give a good veiw on. to be straight up, i think play sand bags for your first 3 months, and then switch. it is an absolute bitch to play with beads when your used to sand. late
