WORD. They see you from like a block away and yet they take the most direct path into the circle.

So yeah, I guess this wasn't about me...

Yeah, it's funny I used to make insane saves when I hacked, like crazy back hook kicks that would bring the hack back into the circle. For some reason I always had this keen awareness of exactly how much space I had as people zipped by to and from work in the busy park where we played. Never kicked anyone, came super, super close though. This one guy that was sitting down, I came like inches away from punting his head into the fountain. Because I couldn't go the extra few inches and reach for it with the toe of my shoe, the bag went into the fountain instead. That was the closest I ever came.

I have had close calls like this ,but with other players. One time my neighbor wasn't paying attention and kicked me in the throat and another time my neighbor was going for the bag and i kicked his support foot out from under him.

In edmonton when we're playing in crowds/public places, we have a safety system where the other players in the circle say "behind" if someone is going to walk into the person shredding. The shredder will typically stop and wait for the blind person/child to vacate the shred zone before continuing.

That kid would have had a broken ankle for sure. Good thing James was in control.

That's a pretty cool system. A few of us would do that informally but to have the the whole other end of he circle on watch duty is pretty cool. It seems way more effective than hoping that your shred buddies are watching out for you while you play.

BTW once you hit someone... it seems like no one ever lets you forget about it. Well that's been my experience. It gets old. Hope it never happens to anyone else.
