Alright! The Cornell Footbag Club officially has video-making capabilities! Luis and I borrowed the camera yesterday, played 1 hour, edited with Adobe for our first time (with a dash of windoze movie maker for credits), and with the assist of Mike Hansen, are happy to bring you what is hopefully the first in a series of shred vids from freezing Ithaca.

Keep in mind that we're still noobs with the technology, so hopefully subsequent vids will have more variety of backgrounds/editing/etc. Our next vid will feature other members of the club too, I'm just the guinea pig for now. Big ups to Mike Hansen for hosting, and to Luis Lipchak for shooting, shredding, and editing together when we should have been studying. Comments are welcome.

2nd.

i really like almost everything on the video. i do like your flurries. i loved the symp atomic drifter and midtime janiwalker. there is one thing i didn't like. that's your flipside clipper. what's wrong with it ? your leg doesn't move down when you're doing tricks ending on clipper, why ? maybe that's stylish, but i still don't like it.

So hot!!! Your style has improved leaps and bounds since I saw it last! I really enjoy the variety you have now. I agree with whoever it was about your flipside clipper. Your game looks great as it is, but if you made that clipper look more normal on certain tricks you would look more even. However, that's the sort of thing that's really hard to "fix."

It's really inspiring seeing you this far into your game and still making a ton of progress. I hope you take advantage of that. Can't wait to see the next video.

Nice stuff Ken!

I loved the combo with the tobius, great choice of tricks.
I also really liked that run with all same foot double dexes.
your symp eggs / Whaaat??!?s were cool too.

I hope this video is the first of many

I have a similar problem with my rightside clipper and it's mostly from sprains and reoccuring tendonitis. Basically, it's because I can't crank my ankle further towards the ground without intense pain.

Every time I see you shred I can't believe the consistency. It's insane, every time you seem to about to drop, BAM there's ten more solid moves in there. Keep it going, take care.

Great stuff ken! You always have a way to impress people with your style & ability! In that run you went off camera did you keep going?

It is funny how you have gloves on but you are shreddin in a T-shirt. Burr.... Nothing can get you out of the NBA T's.

Sounds like you are having some good sessions with all the noobs. You seem to go anywhere and get things started. Well ok almost. Tucson was a bit desolate. I am jealous you are having a tournament. maybe one day we will do that here in AZ.

Wow, big thank you to everybody who commented. I didn't expect to get so many PMs and posts, both here and in my blog. A few comments/questions of my own.

1. re: Max's lighting comment. Are you saying that we should find a better lit spot, or that the lighting is OK? I'm thinking I will try to play in light colored clothes and use darker footbags to make everything more visible. If you thought the lighting was insufficient, please let me know. I want that sort of feedback so I can make better vids.

2. re: Rory and in-toebius. If by "in-toebius" you mean toebius set from the wrong toe (so the set leg does the dex too), then yes, I have hit that. It's really not much different from toebius, so I'd hesitate to qualify it as a harder trick.

3. re: my "bad" clipper. Hm, I never really noticed a problem with my clippers. Which clipper is the weird one? Right leg clipper, or left? Let me know and I'll take a look at toying with it, but I'm not overly concerned. I don't think they look stranger than anybody else's, and they don't slow me down trickwise. I'm also not too sure I'd be able to change something so fundamental in my game, especially after playing for 9.5 years. Maybe my switch to G-Units allows me to get away with this more.

4. re: my gloves. I have really really bad circulation. In winter time, my blood doesn't flow to my hands or feet real well, so my hands get clammy and frozen. Playing in gloves helps me stay warmer longer. My "core" body is pretty much unaffected by the cold, hence the tank top.

5. re: the string where I went out of frame. Yeah, that string actually went on for another 20 contacts. The last 5 contacts or so were back in frame, but I thought it would make the vid look bad if I kept in the empty footage. I was a bit disappointed that the longest string of the day was half off-camera, but I'm happy that the best part of the string was captured.

6. BS frantic eclipse and flailing drifter were both on my first try, and at the end of the session when we were just messing around. Nice surprises.

7. Butterfly symposium reverse swirling opposite toe is called WHAT?!?

Thank you again for all your comments and criticisms. I definitely appreciate comments on my style and our filming critiques. One of the goals of making these videos is to get better, both at footbag and at making vids.

Hopefully our next production will be footage from the Cornell Jam.

It mainly comes out on ducking tricks set from your right clipper. On basically everything else it looks perfectly normal.
