Jeremy. Thanks for all of your tips while you were in Austin. Based on your advice I started dexercising. It paid off huge! I worked on in-out dexercising and... Bada-bing! Pixie set just happened today! On both sides! I hit like 5 tricks out of it, it felt awesome. Drifter and double out-in dex moves will follow soon I'm sure. Thank you thank you thank you!! :D :D :P :P :) :)

Best net session of my life probably yesterday. I played consistently throughout the entire session, and I played with two world champions (Alexis Duschenes won the Men's doubles net title about 4 years ago, and Julie Symons won the Women's singles title 2 years ago).

I had about 25 spikes scattered over about 8 games, including about 6-7 aerial battles, many of which I won. A couple of times, I reached my foot over the opponent's side of the net though, so event hough I won the battle when I contacted their foot, I lost the point. Fun anyway.

I hit two awesome outside sweep spikes, 2 or 3 hardcore flying toe jams, one sole push, and a bunch of flying sideways sole pushes.

I had a fairly good serving day as well. The best part of my game yesterday was my return game though. I was setting or bumping about 80-90% of the service returns even though Alexis was serving me pretty fast (25 mph maybe?).

I hope I'll be able to make it to freestyle today, but I have 2 afterschool meetings, so if I make it at all, I know it'll be closer to 6 than 5.

I laid down the fuckin hammer today kids! In a net session up in Oakland I tore shit up with Craig Karli.

Highlights:
-3 tattoos of other people
-3 blocks at the net, one of which was, as Jack (the ripper) said, "the highlight of the day". It was the first time he'd ever seen anything like it: a standing block with the top of my toes, which were inverted. The bag went STRAIGHT down and everyone was like "whooooooaaaaah, that was crazy." Johnny Leys Witnessed it!
-actually won a couple of doubles games today, which is rare for me up there with all the big boys.

Partnered up with:
-Patrick Keehan (2)
-Alexis Deschenes (2)
-Jack Harris (1 or 2)
-Edwin Veltman (2)
-Johnny Leys (1)
-Randy Pace (1)
-Craig Carli (1)
-Julie Symons (2)

In total, maybe about 13 games of net . . . 8) ! I also played against, but not with, P.T. Lovern, who was impressed with my decision-making on the court and my choice of kicks during service returns. He always likes to give me advice, and I always take it to heart.

I'm really learning a shitload from Alexis these days because he and I play singles together about once a week. He is a former world champion, as is his wife, so I get a lot of good strategy and tips for success.

I had some killer inside sweep serves today, several of which made the guys retruning them say, "Wow, that had some speed on it 8O ." All in all, a most excellent adventure, and Craig, my buddy from Santa Cruz who made the trip up there with me for the second time in the last month or two, got as much out of it as I did. He played very well and had an awesome time too. Peace out.

Heh, Funny Sam.

Sorry to say I won't be making it to SJFF this year. In fact, its pretty crazy but Ive never actuyally attended one and Im fairly close. . . CA. Don't know whats up with that. Its my b-day weekend too!

Um, lots to report, no time tho so short and simple:
-TATW barefoot 2 days ago
-taught Sage Woodmansee's bro about freestyle and in one night, the kid hit 10 toe stalls back to back, plus ATW one side and legover. He seems fairly hooked, he needs a freestyle bag though
-2 roll spikes today (in practice), 1 bicycle kick (in game play)
-lots of great outside scuffs, took pace off them to get them in
-a few stellar toe jams
-practiced ayatollahs (toe jam into the opponent's side of the net, hence you have to reach over to their side of the net before you spike it) but havent hit one yet
-super sweet scissor toe kick (toe jam like, but from a scissor start)
-tatooed 2 people
-Alexis Deschene and Julie Symons from Santa Clara came down to play at Frederick St Park with us, inspiring good play from all.

Many Thanks.

10.29.06- Last pre-Halloween session of '06

Barely walked away from today's session with limbs intact. Rt hand hurts, left hip flexor hurts, a bit sick with a head cold. Sporting a massive afro now.

Had my first ever successfully executed roll spike in a game. Was an absolute bullet that landed in the last foot of the court. My partner yelled "yeah!" at me b/c he was so excited for me. I fell pretty hard, but adrenaline took over. I got really good rotation of the hips in the air, although I wasn't "upside down," but rather lying on my back in the air. Fletcher got a pic of it; I thought he was filming . . . too bad. If you read this, can you post the pic fletch?

 AYATOLLAH

I'm doing a flying toe jam but I contact the bag with my toe over the opponent's side of the net and I toe kick the bag into their side of the net to end the point. This is a very rare occurrence, maybe once every 500 games. It was my first, and I thank EJ Gammage and AJ Schultz for capturing it in all of its glory!
