7!!! We had 7 people at our session today. That has not happened in a while. First year, during good weather, we would have 10-15 people kicking. Most of them were hacky sackers, but still interested in footbag. We had 3 from Pittsford come today, and Chris finally made it to a session after a 3 week break. Doug tried my lavers today, and was doing really well in them. He has decent control, but his normal shoes have really rounded toes. Today he has several 10-15 contact tiltless strings.

I had no energy today, and my legs were really tired. Right from the start I didn't feel good even though I was excited to play. Most of my strings were really short, couldn't hit a lot of my standard stuff. I'm going to rest until Cornell and hopefully I will be play like I have been the last few weeks. I'm anxious for the video that Mike is working on. He has 4 hours of footage to go through, and from he has seen so far he thinks it is going to be a decent video/set of videos.

Aric, good work on the grifters. I was there for the first one and it was so clean. Sorry I had to leave early but I had to take my dad out to dinner for his birthday.

My performance at the last session was retarded. I was really sore from moving my fiance in the day before. Three guys from work along with Julia and I moved huge pieces of furniture from her place to mine, and it took about 5 hours to complete.

Anyway, I will say I am really happy with my pixie sets lately. For the past few weeks they have been working so well I can't believe it. And when they don't work I usually know exactly why and am able to correct it on a second attempt.

My flip moves have been coming along as well. I really need to work on flip quantum and flip atomic. I keep forgetting I can do atomic on my strong side, probably because I can't do it on flip side, so I usually don't do atomic moves. I can hip flip quantum, specifically quantum legover, but only after hitting paradox illusion. Something about following illusion with quantum is easy for me.

I plan on working on the video tonight. I have about an hour of footbag left to capture to my PC which will take about an hour, then I will start the editting process. I use Adobe Premier Pro on Windows XP incase any of you were wondering. I need to find a good way to make clips from long videos and store them in the bin. Usually I work with one long video, mark in and out points, then drag that segment to the timeline. In most cases the clips are arranged in chronological order. This is alright for a quick Mike Anello basement video. However, I would like the next video to be a bit more exciting. What I would prefer to do is place clips into the bin so that I can arrange them, order them differently, group player's clips together, etc. I am going to search google now for help. If any of you have any information that might help me please let me know.

The room rate is $138.56 / night. If three other people share the room with me, the cost will be $35 / night or $70 for the weekend. If more people come then the weekend cost will drop to $55 for 5 people, $46 for 6 people, $40 for 7 people, and so on. I do not know what the room looks like or how much floor space there is. I am willing to accept as many people as can comfortably fit within reason.

I see Aric already responded. Sorry to get your hopes up, I remember considering it a couple weeks ago but I haven't thought about it much since.

HOWEVER, that's no reason why we can't still get together. People are so nearby in this area of new york/ontario that it's totally possible to have big sessions now and again. It wouldn't be too hard to find a mutually accessible spot and make a day trip out of it. A bit of driving with 5 hours of freestyle sandwiched in the middle is pretty doable on a sunday. (I'm not one to speak though; I don't have a car

)

But not too soon, since I just got back from Cornell and I'm EXHAUSTED

Maybe I will write a "foot-blog" report thingy sometime. I'm sure you're all dying to read it. We almost made it back to Rochester with Ken's beans, but he retrieved them before the getaway was carried out.

About this New Year's Jam possibility, there are a couple things to consider before committing to actually doing it. Talking about it at Cornell got my mind on it. I'll post my thoughts about that when I have time.

Ooo! If all of you end up setting up another New Years Jam I'd be able to attend! I'm coming back to the states on Dec. 16th and will be going back one of the first weeks of Jan. - not too much time but good enough. I'll keep looking back to all the posts about the possibility and I'm sure I'll post every now and then to give everyone updates (me = possible car to add to a car pool

) . Hope the Cornell jam was as lethal as it sounded like it was going to be!

Cornell Recap.

Pretty sweet Jam! Got to see a lot of the regulars plus quite a few new people. Definitely want to thank Mike for driving me all around, letting me stay at the hotel, and for being Mike, I had a great time hanging out with you this weekend. Foosball was awesome! I definitely hope the next jam has a foosball table (we should get a portable!) It was also awesome to hang out with Ken for a while, I didn't get to talk to him too much at the Rochester NY Jam. He is a really nice guy, and a damn good footbag player. Thanks to the other hosts as well, Luis is really nice and did a good job for his first event. The fraternity deserves a lot of thanks as well for putting up with all of us for 2 nights.

Friday night Mike picked me up around 6:30, and we got going. Trip was fairly short and we talked about footbag and computers pretty much the whole way down. The trip went really fast, and we only missed one turn, which we saw but couldn't get in the lane fast enough. I wanted to take it real easy that night, but of course that didn't happen. Getting there late did help and only played for a little while. I tried to hit a lot of different circles and got to shred with a lot of people. I was playing pretty good, but don't think I hit anything new. Friday night we played some pool and some foosball, and I also did some pants shred. Hit E-walk a couple time for Marc, reverse mullet, superfly, symple swirl x3, and about 35 infinities. The ride back to the hotel was interesting, somehow we missed our turn and ended up making a huge circle around the campus and back to where we started. Then we took a wrong turn, found some random county route (79) and then called the hotel for directions (we weren't that far off).

Saturday was event day, and my shins were pretty sore. But a nice long warm up and some advil took care of that. Did pretty good first round of circle (Jason Vavaro, Josh D., Jorden) Jason is a decent tiltless/guiltless player, but it was his first comp. Josh was having some problems but managed to hit 1 or 2 decent strings, Jorden was Jorden. I had 3 or 4 for nice long varied strings, but missed a lot my basic big stuff, which kind of sucked. In between rounds I managed to hit matador > ducking butterfly > (rpt) first try, and matador > ripwalk > (rpt). 2nd round went pretty bad, Me, Pat Talon, Ken, Dave. I dropped a lot and defintely did hit anything impressive. Consulation round went well, I hit a couple long varied strings, one string with 5 or 6 5's, and managed to hit a lot of my basic stuff to take the circle and 5th overall. That night was the juggling show, which was amazing, so much awesome talent. Then the four-square competition. I did well but i got beat by Jorden... I kept killing myself, bad kept sticking to my toe or something. Jorden obviously has good control with the bag, and a couple tricks. I still would have lost to Marc if I did beat Jorden, because he is a lot better than me at 4-square. Party that night included some more pool and some more foosball. Dave and Alex hung out with me and Mike that night, and they started talking some smack about foosball. We played against Pete Bowler and (blank..) to warm up. It was the best game we had all weekend, we should have won though. We were winning 6-7, that point most have last 10-20 minutes, neither of us could score it just went on forever. But finally they scored and eventually won... But then we almost shut out Alex and Dave we had them 8-0, but they ended getting 2 in a row before we closed it. I finished that night trying to shred, I thought my legs felt good. After about 5 minutes my shins really started to hurt, and the pain started to radiate to my knees and thighs. I stopped playing but it was too late. No sleep that night from my legs, and the next day my legs still hurt and I was pretty tired.

I had a good chance at Rippin Run, but I dropped on pdx mirage or something stupid like that, and Ianek who really worried about facing me ended up going about 3 or 4 tricks past me. Dave of course would win, and then last man standing would go about the same. I think I took 5th or 6th overall, just barely beat Ken. Sick 1 went well, i hit alpine smoke first try and then nuke ss rev. whirl second try. Then we messed around and did the mirage race, which i won, infinity race, smear race, guiltless shred race (i won), and a long mirage race.

All in all a good weekend, can't wait for the next one.

Tonight I also had a quick session with Doug at SJFC while my girl friend was at some event. Still very tired I couldn't do much, but managed some new stuff. Doug hit lots of nice strings, and ended up hitting everything that I asked him to try which was cool.

Oh gosh, it'd make my day if I heard the RFA would be coming to NYJ!

I am turbo bummed I missed getting to shred with you both at KICKASS and CFJ.

see? thats why you watch out for the quiet ones (haha, you didnt even know both your opponents names, now thats 'quiet' just a joke, especially since almost no one knew/knows his name (its dan...he plays some hacky slacky and did some taping at cornell, and most importantly, has a car )). the ones talking smack always get beat, its written in the laws of the universe.

im on the fence about going to Rochester NYJ (assuming its on), but if you guys get a foosball table, you wont be able to keep me away

we should totally set up a foosball tourney next year at cornell. maybe singles and doubles.

RFA really represented well at cornell and you guys are reasonably cool as well, i guess. hopefully kick with you's guys soon!

I'm just guessing, but I think Mike is unreasonably cool.

To make this post more useful, I still want to know what was so funny when Mike was sitting in a corner all by himself talking on his cell phone and laughing like a maniac.

Also, it was good to see the the Rochester crew again. Unfortunately, even if you do have a New Year's Jam I won't be able to make it. However, I do want to drive our club up to Rochester some time to play with you guys, and maybe go out somewhere in the evening.

Yes, it is true, I was sitting in the livingroom of the frat house, talking on my cell phone, laughing hysterically, and here is why...

My friend Kevin Wise, who has a Ph.D. in biogenetics and works in a lab at Yale University, received his Bachelor's degree at Cornell back in like 1993 or 1994. My brother Matt, our friend Rich, and I went to Cornell during graduation weekend for Kevin's graduation ceremony. At the time I was recently new to alcohol - I think I was like 20 or 21 years old. There was so much craziness that happened during his graduation weekend that Kevin and I could have talked and laughed about it for the rest of the night. He was completely drunk on the phone and I was messed up in all sorts of ways. In one moment I was reminding him of some little bit of craziness and in the next moment he was reminding me of some other bit of craziness. Oh God, it was so awesome to reminisce about his graduation weekend. Oh man, so many good memories. Not only did Kevin and I have good memories to talk about, but it lead to new memories of me talking to him at a frat house and laughing hysterically during a footbag event that I will cherish for the rest of my entire life.

And this concludes our trip down Memory Lane.
