session with Muffin and Faille...

-montage BS
-dragon set ripwalk BSOS
-probably some other stuff

on video. :D

fun session, energetic. Day 4 no smoking... it's going well. I had the chance to vaporize today, but I chose not to, because I'm not just enjoying the health benefits of not smoking, I like myself as a person more. I feel like I'm sharper, funnier, more creative, more emotional... It's going well.

Tomorrow is a big day... audition for the production / promo group tomorrow... we'll see what happens. might lead to lots of gigs in toronto. I like this city, I'm so hooked up here... and I'm a canadian now, too...

Props for the non smoking Matt. I stopped about 2.5 months ago and I remember having to wait several weeks before feeling the health benefits. Good luck.

awesome RFA session

- montage first try, early in the session. footed flip second try. not many more tries in the night... none on film :(

- whirlwind > hand catch > less sloppy whirlwind

- spender > ps whirl > ps whirl

- spender > psw other side

- ripstein > psw first try

- symp tripwalk > psw first try ever

- ewalk > psw first try ever

- swirling rev whirl first try :D

i like ps whirls

that session was a lot of fun. I hit some big combos that I really liked, and had a blast playing with my posse. there were 7 players! thanks for coming out, doug tank! you're doing awesome. you'll be sick sick sick in lavers.

I was filmed today by YTV, a canadian youth TV station (focus group 8-12 yrs old) to appear on NATIONAL TV in Canada TOMORROW at 4:25 and 4:55 representing footbag!!! how exciting!!

SOMEONE TAPE IT FOR ME!!! or TIVO it or something, I don't get that station. I've got to see it! I did well, no drops or anything, the whole thing that they will show is the first take.

I've got lots to say about my weekend, but I've got some serious RFA hangout-ing to do. Ryan Thomas is downstairs!!

I wish I could have been there with you man, but I ran into some extenuating circumstances. :?

Thanks for coming out and getting it done at Hip-Hop Away From Violence, what a sweet show, and a sweet backstage shred. Always a pleasure man. I hope you got the beat-bagging thing from Mike, but even if you didn't you'll have the clip from this show.

You better be down for a next event in March though, or you are officially an outcast from "Foot Fetish".

You got it! I'm taping it right now. Thanks for mentioning me. :) And using my bag too!

I checked your blog like 10 minutes before the spot aired and I scrambled to figure out how to program the vcr.

Looked great from what I saw. I hope lots of Canadian kids pick up the sport.

peng taped it! we'll have it on soon enough! I can't wait to see! it was fun, I didn't drop the bag once I went in the room, it took 5 minutes to film total.

We've had a sick couple RFA sessions in the past few days. Yesterday I hit swirling spinning butterfly > ps whirl, ripstein > ps whirl, frantic same butter > pdx blender, furious gumble, gumble pendulum set blind right over my head, and some other good stuff. Some fun strings, but not many. My links are at the top of my game lately, but not my strings. But, that's good, I can bring those back up with endurance.

I've had a blast hanging out in rochester, and seeing all the people I've wanted to run into. It's like I had this little checklist in my head, and almost everyone is checked off it. I'm sure I'll see everyone else tonight at the Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad show.

I've missed rochester. I'm glad I'm having such a great time here.

I've got the first 2:13 of it on my harddrive, right here right now.. It ends at a commercial right around when you show some stalls....

Is there more? They said there would be, but well, I guess my mother didn't tape that part :(

I don't have the equipment to convert vhs to digital. I'd gladly send the tape to someone who can. I have both segments.

Converting to digital is easy. Just do it by hand. It's all ones and zeros.

See? Easy.

back in freddytown... had a solo session just now, after a cup of coffee and an apple and yogurt for breakfast.

taking anello's advice, I worked on a drill, got it after not too long - blur > dlo > plo > parkwalk > rpt. Then i worked on a little spinning and got bunches of spinning clippers both sides. Then, flip ripstein, which took a few tries. Then, some new stuff -

flip rev swirling symp whirl first try

flip symp rev whirling toast (gyro toe)

drifter > gyro mirage bsos... to train for vortex > vortex...

then, I had a long fistfight with swirling spender, but I finally won. I hit it twice, really clean both times. The second one was slightly more controlled for the hand catch... This is the first 7 add move I've invented. Frankly, I got way more excited over the 4 or 5 times I footed it than the 2 times I hit it. Soon, I'll invent another... I think after this one, it's pretty obvious what the next will be, but if it's not, let's just say I can think of a move that's going to have to be renamed ;)

yo matt, props on swirling spender! and I want to see swirlwind :) Yes, for me swirlwind makes more sense to be swirling whirlwind that the other way around.

As for the invention part of things. Well I remember talking to Vasek a while back when he was into his swirling stuff and it was my understanding that he's hit a bunch of stuff out of swirl. So maybe he's hit it, maybe he hasn't I don't know for sure, but I guess he'd be a good candidate for this kind of stuff. Oh and Rick Reese in the 70s probably (j/k).

I also saw your video with E. Chan: you have a kick ass game and a kick ass style. Props :)

Swirling spinning blender is indeed nasty. As for who invented it, it's hard to say. The thing with many (most) swirling sets, is that they tend to be thin or "the." Swirling-spinning only seems to make them more "the." The best swirling spinning stuff I ever saw was from Jon Schneider back in 2001. I'm pretty sure he was getting the swirl clean (most swirling spinning have swirls which start good, but don't finish the dex because the person starts spinning. You can see a similar phenomena with twirl.). I'm 99% sure that he didn't hit spinning blender out of this set, but you can ask him, cause he frequents modified.

The other obvious candidate for swirling spinning stuff is Vasek. At least as far back as 2004 worlds he was hitting all sorts of swirling stuff, including swirling vortex. Given that his strong swirl and his strong spender line up, I'd say there's a real possibility he hit it, but again, it'd be worth asking to find out.

Regardless of whether or not its an invention, it's still a hell of a move that almost nobody can hit. So get it on video and show us all! I think it'd be worthy of the massive section on flipsider if its clean.
