Somebody who made an influence on the world?
Somebody who made an influence on the world?
for my english class I need to do a 2 page essay on somebody who influenced/changed the world, any suggestions?
Alexander Fleming, the inventor of penicillin.
Antibiotics changed the course of medicine and medical care.
You can spin off a whole slew of things to say about him. Definitely 2 pages worth.
Or:
Frederick Scott Archer, the inventor of the collodion process.
- Collodion process allowed for photographs to be made with multiple copies
- This was important in science, art, and life because of the documentary abilities of photography. Imagine a world without photographs to depict what is fact. Photographs can be considered more 'reliable' than watercolours and sketches because there is no artist's touch at hand - true documentation.
- Collodion process also gave way to the tintype which gave the masses the ability to have a portrait of themselves. A cheaply made photograph was something revolutionary since before, oil portraits were only available to the elite classes, later daguerreotypes were also quite expensive and still out of the realm of the working class.
Good luck!

If its an english paper go with the sucked up choice and do Shakespeare
- He invented hundreds of words
- Revolutionized the way theatre works
- Pioneer of entertianment in his time
- Contributed to some of the best liturature in history
- Known for his usage of the Iambic pentameter.
For the record, the iambic pentameter is a way to speak using 10 syllabelles having one non stressed syllabel followed by a stressed one. It mimics the human heart beat and people heed the words spoken like this better. some famous examples:
- JFK: Ask not what your country can do for you
- MacBeth: So foul and fair a day i have not seen
Thats prolly one of the easiest topics, plus its great cos all english teachers love shakespeare.
