Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for?

Post by C-Fan »

Ah, Thanksgiving. I missed it a few years while in Japan, but now that I'm back, I'm happy to celebrate this wonderful holiday. No, not just for the massive eating, drinking, and overall laziness that signals its glorious arrival each year. Rather, I think it is one of the best holidays in the abstract: giving thanks.

So on that note, what are you thankful for this year?

Here's my short list.

1. I'm thankful for the friends I've made through footbag at Cornell. Looking at my life back in school, I can say that most of the coolest, closest friends I have here I met through footbag, and probably wouldn't have encountered otherwise.

2. I'm thankful I am still physically capable of playing footbag. Right before 2004 Worlds, I had a bad injury that made me wonder if I could continue playing. Since then I've had some minor problems, but I'm currently able to play as hard as I ever have in my life. For somebody who has been playing for 9.5+ years, that's a big deal.

3. I'm thankful I have good bags to play with. For years, I never really had a great bag. Now, I have a perfect Ilja, a perfect Mirken, and three other nice bags waiting to be broken in later (Mirken, PPD, and Clavens). Having a nice bag makes such a big difference.

4. I'm thankful that people keep making videos all the time. It's really great that almost everyday there's something new out, and usually its mindblowingly good.

What about you guys? What are you thankful for?

Even though I'm alone today, I'm thankful for the greatest love in my life, Ashley Danowski. I am also thankful that I have one broken in abshire bag. I am thankful to still be able to breathe, even though I can't breathe that well. I am thankful for second chances (and third.. and forth.)

I'm thankful for very few things this year. Life just isn't going my way. My parents are splitting up again, for the third time, my girlfriend dumped me, and my dad is back on taxes and we might lose our house. Though I'm thankful that I'm alive and that all these experiences are going to make me a better person in the future.

We don't celebrate thanksgiving in australia cause we're selfish bastards... but....
