Josh, Thats sick man sick! You and Conrad are unbelieviable. You don't have a trick then BAM! It takes me a lot longer on some things! Nice job!

Had a 40 min session before work. I warmed up w/ my normal warmup routine. 100 kicks, 50 toes stalls & 50 insides stalls, 5 mirages bs, 5 clips bs, 5 illusions bs, 5 LOs, 5 ATW bs bw. I usually do 10 instead of 5 but time was short. Then I stretched, did some situps & pushups. worked on clips & butterflys. I must have hit 300 clips on each side. Not consecutive of course. I tried 25 on each side. good side I have no prob. I do 25 & then hand catch. Flip side I got over 20 every time. High of 23 today. Also I was using my honesty bag (rolley bag). I am about to retire my floppy bag since I get so lazy w/ my stalls when I use it. I also worked some ss butterflys. I hit 7 on strong & 2 & 3 on flip. I will drill clips & butterflys till my legs fall off!!!! I did a few op Butterfly> pdx mirage rpt for a bit too. That is about it. It's drillin time! I will kick tomorrow too!

later...

I guess I can post my stuff in here too, weeing as I am part of the Unity crew.

Had a little drill session, mainly flip atomic and whirls.

Highlights;
whirl quite a few times, flip needs lots of work
atomsmasher > atomsmasher, 3 more times and starting from both sides
almost got rubberman starting on atomsmasher and legbeater
flip tapdown > ripwalk
flip legbeater > ripwalk

That's it. I might have a little session tomorrow at school, who knows.

Alright that is a bit discouraging! Slow down Josh you are passing this old timer up. haha. Johnny & I said you would do that anyway so no biggie. Sweet stuff! keep it up!

I had another 40 min session before work. Worked on CBOP stuff w/ my honest bag. I am determined to make this bag work & break it in better. I tried to do a lot of clips again. That is sure tiring. I also worked ss butterfly a bit. I came up with a new drill that just might help me more.

clip w/o planting (set the bag a few inches up) > rpt a few times > clip (set waist high. plant) > rpt a few times > clip (set neck high. plant) > rpt a few times. I will try all no plant next time to see how that is.

I liked this one since it forces me to slow down & work on different timing & balance. This drill is simliar to my warmup stuff I do once in a while.

clip w/o planting (set the bag a few inches up) > rpt a few times > infinity > clip w/o planting (set the bag a few inches up) > rpt a few times > osis > clip w/o planting (set the bag a few inches up) > rpt a few times > etc.

This drill really slows me down a lot. I also worked clip>op clip drill. That one is the worst for me. That is all ...... for now! See you Wednesday after our session......

I didn't kick Wednesday. On Friday some of the Unity crew had a great session. It was Nate, Conrad, & myself. Nate & I kicked for an hour before Conrad showed up.

Nate was doing pretty good. He kicked for about 2 hours or so. We worked on a lot of spinning stuff for the first hour so we would have more energy for later.

Conrad kicked for about 4 hours. He seemed to get tired early since he didn't eat much that day. That will do it. He hit a coupld of new things which I can't remember of course. Old age I guess. Check his blog for updates.

As for me I was doing ok. I drilled my flip clip a lot again & a lot of spins. I get so dizzy after spinning more then 2x.

Highlights for me:
- merkon (new trick for me) on strong side several times. Off the foot a couple of times on flip. My spins on my flip are so much better then they used to be. I guess my clip practice is paying off.
-diving butterfly bs (new trick)
-ducking butterfly bs throughout the session
-34 osis -- new record. got one of my goals for the EOY! Beat it by 10. Yeah it was my floppy bag. My right ankle was a bit sore again. Maybe all that stepping practice last Friday didn't help much.

Hopefully I can kick on Sunday & Monday for bit before Vegas!

Let's try this again. I will have to make this short so this computer will not lock up again. I kicked today for 1 1/2 hours. I warmed up & stretched as usual. I worked clips & butterflys. Mainly on the flip. Sounds like some sort of birth defect. It might as well be since it acts up so much. SOS. I also worked a few atomic, quantum, & pixie sets. I worked the pdx mirage>ss butterfly rpt drill. I noticed when I do that drill my flip butterfly I tend to look on the outside of my leg to soon so it mess up my timing & stall & I make the dex a bit bigger so it makes it hard to go into the pdx mirage. I compared it to the good side & I noticed that I wait a long time before I look to the outside & keep the dex tighter. I guess I trust that side more. I can good 10 cycles of that drill on strong with a hand catch & only 3 on flip (w/o the hand catch). Waiting a bit longer before I look to the outside of the leg really helped me out. Anyway....

On a side note I will be short on time when I go to Vegas so I might only get a chance to kick the Vegas guys only once. :( We will see. Once is better then none, right! Shred!!!

11/14
Vegas shred! Kicked with Ben Skaggs & Evan Gatesman for a little over 4 hours. These guys are incredible. They were hitting so many tricks it was hard to keep track & there string lengths were very consistant. haze's, smoke's, ripwalks all over, vortex, marius, etc.... damn... 8O I think Ben had several 30 contact runs & many 20+. Evan did the same & threw in a couple 40+. I wish I would have had a camera. I haven't seen anything in Ben's blog yet. I guess he kicks like this all the time. I don't think Evan has a blog. Anyway, It was an honor kickin with these guys. Thanks!!! Thanks for the help on a few things too. I sure hope I can put it to good use.

At the EOS they where gives each other a hard time. It reminded me of Conrad & Josh. I felt like I needed a black & white shirt with a whisle. It was all in good fun. I remember Ben yelling out "the" in the middle of Evan's run & it made him bust out laugh so of course he dropped it. Then the challenges came & more smack talking like they would do a nice run & say take that & throw it to the other person. Good stuff. They have a few tricks that the other can't do as well so that keep things going. Evan was trying spinning clip>whirr rpt about 3+hours into the shred & came so close. I asked if they could do janiwalker. bam Ben hits it. geesh.... Must be nice to hit shit on command. One day man one day!!!

As for me I did alright. I got up the day before at about 4:15 pm & worked a 12 hour shift. I made it home after work & got ready to go. We finally hit the road & I only sleep an hour while my wife drove. We got done kickin at about 9pm so needless to say I was tired. I had a few good runs but nothing to impressive. Hard to keep up with these guys. Ok not that I was even close but it was still fun! They gave me a few pointers on my flip clip/butter & stepping so I will have to work on that. 100 butterflys & 50 ripwalks here I come!!! Yeah! I can't remember anything new or any runs over 25 so that was it.

I guess I am still tired from all the driving so I am just babbling. We went from Vegas to Flagstaff & stayed the night there & then drove to the Grand Canyon & spent most of the day there. We drove back to Phx early evening. What a long 4 days. After seeing how good Ben & Evan are I need to kick more!! A LOT MORE!!!!

11/18
30 minute solo session. I had a estimate for a security screen door that day so it took up way to much time. I worked a lot of clips & butterflys. I also did some stepping LO's & stepping clips. I tried to work on some of the things that Ben told me to work on for getting my stepping sets down. I have heard this from many people like Ken, Chad, etc but things are still not completely clicking. They did put it a different way then what I have heard in the past tho so just a few millions more trys & I might have a ripwalk, a blur, sidewalk, etc. practice, practice..... rpt..

Had a 1 hr 15 min session before work. Ahhhh Footbag! I warmed up w/ the normal kicking, stalling, & consecutives, stretched, hit the bag, did some push ups, & pull ups. Then I proceeded to work on the CBOP stuff. I noticed my flip consec clips are getting better & my clip>op clip is ok but my flip butterfly>infinity sucks~! I worked clip>clip>op clip rpt. Hit like 16 or so. Still sucks! My balance is getting better & I can stretch for the bag if I have to like I can on my good side. nothing like the 3 foot clip/butterfly when you need it. I would like to get that out but sometimes when your set gets away from you you have to recovery somehow. Anyhoo, I also worked stepping LO's a bit & a lot of stepping clips. Slow down as usual, work on the stall & set, & plant the setting foot & lift the dexing leg faster & smoother. I think ELI has a good point on his website (www.flipsider.com) in the "know" section about you can always improve on a trick even when you have it down. Less effort &/= better effiency is the key! That part is my brilliant insite. Geesh! I did some clip>osis rpt. Abt 20 or so contacts. That drill always feels so nice & smooth for me. I need to break 50 & beyond. well back to work.... i will kick tomorrow too!

This has been a crazy week since the holidays & trying to recover from the Vegas trip. All the driving made it suck.

Kicked 40 mins on Monday 11/20. Notice I lean back a lot on my flip clips & flip butterflys. Working on that. Posture is important. I think I read that in someone blog. They learned that from Allan Haggett (sp?).

Then on Wednesday I had another solo session. I never got an email back from Lucas about a kick & Nate sent one on Wednesday morning so I just slept in. Nate did show up about 3:45pm & woke my sleepy ass up by calling many times & pounding on the door. We didn't kick. We just played pool for a few hours. However, I did kick later that night about about 1 hr & 45 mins. It was a pretty good session even though I was a bit tired. Worked a lot of CBOP stuff. That is something I definitely have to do every session. Good for the flip & getting to that guiltless level. I also worked the dreaded stepping stuff mostly just stepping clip but touched on a few other stepping tricks. Then I wanted to work on some toes moves so I won't lose any of those. They typical smashers, toe blurs, & smears. I hit a few but after I did all those situps after the warmup kicking, stalling, etc I couldn't hit that many toe moves. I won't do situps till after my kick. The importance of good abs. I did happen to record pretty much my whole session of drilling tricks so I will have to watch it soon. Maybe I could learn something to improve on things. It sure can't hurt. It was taken on my digital camera so it won't be that clear but should work for critiquing purposes.

Today I kicked for about 40 mins. I worked the usual CBOP stuff. Noticed something else on my flip clip/butter. I tend to land/play on my heel a bit to much. So I will have to work on standing more upright & playing on my toe. Geesh so much to work on. next....

Hope we can kick this week Mike!

Just had a hour long session.

highlights:
Barfly, twice, sealed, I think I'm getting a hang of double down's
Far motion, once and sealed
legbeater bsos, finally
tapdown bso, so close to bsos
blender, close to bsos, but my flip still needs some work
flip whirl, got it a couple of more times, needs more work
ducking legover, a few times, I like this move so I'm gonna work it a lot
drifter > pdx drifter, so close yet again
flog, still there

On tuesday I'll probably get my sick 1 and 3 taped and submitted. I really feel like I can get my sick 3 each time I try but I don't! I will get it or I will have to to think of another good sick 3.

Sorry guys I can't kick on Friday because I have to work. Next Friday will be on!!

Kicked on Tuesday 11/28 for 2 hrs & 15 mins. I worked CBOP's a lot. Also worked some atom smashers & smears. No highlights just a lot of drillin.

Then tonight (11/30) I kicked for 2 1/2 hrs. Worked more Clips & a lot of BOP's drills at the end. I was averaging about 10. pretty sad but at least my flip clip/butterfly feels a little more consistent. I tried some different combos then I usually do so that added to the fun & the challenge. I also have been using my honesty bag when I kick on my own. Last time I used my dishonesty (floppy) bag was in Vegas. My new bag makes me slow down a lot since it still is a bit rolly. I will continue to drill more CBOP till the EOY & then try to beat some of my records. I still have a long way to go to get the 100 clips & 75 infinites. drill> rpt......

later all....

On Saturday 12/2 I kicked for 40 mins before work. I had a short warmup & worked a lot of CBOP stuff. I also dabbled with some barrages set from clips. On Friday night (at work haha) I watched some barraging tricks on hackrifice & Anz Trickz (good stuff) & thought I was getting to understand them more. The big thing was that I was actually trying to put 3 dexs instead of (only) 2 dex. Wow what a diff. Yeah they are still hard but at least I hit a few. haha. I won't explain my stupidity & why I was thinking there was another dex in there. Live & learn I guess.

Today 12/5 I kicked for 30 mins. I wanted to kick yesterday & today but woke up late. Anyway I guess some kickin is better then none. I did a short warmup & worked the shit out of clips, consecutives & alternating. Nothing much to say about that. They seem better one day & then the next maybe a little less. Geesh. I will kick tomorrow night!!

later all... kick on...

Nice job on the pixies Josh! Your are coming along. Phoenix & barfly! Nice!

I just got done with a 2 1/2 session. I warmed up & then did a lot of clips for about 30 mins. Then I worked on atom smashers, smears, & Stepping clips for about an hour. Time flys when you are having fun. I kept going with more butterfly, infinities & ss. I kept getting about 8 to 12 infinities & 8 good side butters & only 3 on flip. At least they were controlled. Then I tried more clips. I got 26, 22, 20 & many lower alternating clips. They are getting more controlled! I finished the session with osis, butters, & clips. Over all a pretty session. I worked out for another hr after kickin! I have been trying to do more situps so I can do more dlo's, eggs, atom smashers, etc. I noticed some footbaggers cross train so I thought I would start adding to my kickin sessions & my days off from kickin. we will see.

Unity will have a session this friday. Should be fun. It has been like 3 weeks. life gets in the way. Ok time for some pool..... It is nice to have my table up!

Update: Had a 5+ hour session on Friday 12/8 with the Unity 4 man circle, Nate, Conrad, Josh, & Myself.

Nate was doing the usual stuff. Hope we can kick on Wednesday night! Conrad had some good runs throughout the session. Check his blog for more info. His drifters, pdx drifters are sick. Josh hit some new stuff as usual. His toe moves are coming along. As for me I had some good solid tiltless runs all day & several guiltless runs. no new tricks. I need to work harder so I can get more variety in my runs! My flip xbody stuff is coming along but no where near where I want it. I noticed that after 5 hours of playing my knee starts hurting a bit. and I thought it was getting better. hmmm! I will start being more careful. Even my ankle was a bit sore. Less then 3 hours kickin & my knee does not hurt.

Today 12/11 I had a quick 30 min session. I worked the usual clips, butterflys, & osis. That was it.....

Had a 2 hr 45 min solo session on wed. 12/13. I worked some atom smashers, smears, pixie lo's, & magellan. I hit a few atom smashers & pixie lo's, & magellans. I hit a lot of smears. Those seem a lot easier for me. I also worked a shit load of CBOP stuff. I will keep working that.

I went online to check on myspace for people that play footbag/hacky sack in the Arizona area. I sent out about 20 messages. i heard back from a couple of people so we will see if anyone shows up for the kick tomorrow or if anyone else contacts me. I guess demo's are better. We will have to go out & do that someday we I am better.

I will be kickin NET before the session tomorrow since Rob Adams & his brother are in town. i will get my ass kicked since i haven't kicked net in so long. ok time for some sleep.....

A great Net & Freestyle session. Kicked Net for about 2 hours. Rob, AJ, & even Nate played a couple of games. My game was doing about the same as it always has been. I can set like a mad man but my consistency with my spikes or sweeps suck ass. I will have to work on that. Hopefully we can get Amy & Cavney out of retirement to kick some. Also Rob's Nephew is getting pretty good at net so we should start having a crew to start playing net more often. YeAh!!!

After Net I freestyled with Nate & Conrad for about 4 + hours. Nate played for about an hour but said he was a bit off for the day. Must have been the beer & disc golf. Conrad was doing ok. He was tired too. He started running again so it took his toll on him. He did hit a couple of new tricks. I remember sumo (flip side it fell off), pdx omlete bs, & I think a couple of matadors. Maybe he just footed the matadors. Then at the end he was working clips. Hit hit 72 in a row. clip x n>op clip x n. where n counts up. He made it to 10 or 11. Damn!

As for me I footed:
sumo a couple of times. Out of now where my set was way up there. My flip feels a bit weird. I did get the nuclear .... toe stall. At least it was better. Not sure how this came about because I haven't practiced it. I was pretty tired after Net & 2 hours for kung fu the night before so there wasn't much else. Had the usual stuff. Tiltless runs & some BOP runs with a few random tricks thrown in for fun. I did notice, with Conrads help, the answer to my flip clip issue. This was pointed out by a few people before but some how it stuck this time. I will try & concentrate & drill the issue more. The issue was that I kept starting my stall foot lower & will drop it too much. drill>rpt!

12/19
kicked for 30 mins. worked on flip clip/butter
mostly. also infinities. That was it.

12/20
Had a 2 hr 40 min solo session. Worked the usual. CBOP, atom smashers, smears, & some toe blur practice. I hit 5 ss butterflys on flip side. I did tons of clips & butterfly practice.

12/22
Had a kick with the Unity crew here in Tempe since I messed on the email which created some scheduling conflicts. Hope things work out some other time before Ken goes back. We have 2 more opportunities to kick before he goes back to school in NY.

Anyway... we had a 3 man circle with Nate, Josh, & myself out in the rain. We kicked under the overpass where the park is. We kick there till it got to dark & after Nate left. Nate we doing the usual & working his flip sidewalk & ripwalks b2b. He tweaked his neck a bit so I think he left a bit early then he wanted to. We kick there for about 2 hrs. Then Josh & I went to kick at the recreation center at Kiwanis park. It closes early on Friday nights at 7pm but with a 2 man circle it was ok since we were shredding hard. It tooks us a while to find it so we kicked about 1 1/2 more. I had a few good runs. One at the first spot with 20+ all guiltless except one clip. Had some good runs at the gym too. My flip clip was acting up now & then but I think it is slowly getting better. I feel like I have more control & can do some combos that I used to have probs with. I did hit 2 smears on flipside & the few runs here & there but that was it. Until next time..... Maybe NET tomorrow if the weather holds.

12/24
played 2 hrs of Net with Rob & DJ Adams. We played monster (2 on 1) & Rob & I had a few games of singles. I can get about 10 pts on him in a game to 15. I am sure he is taking it easy on me. It was good times. My sweep is coming along. I also had a few good flying outside pushes & put a good sole push into the net. We will hopefully play again on Wed.

12/25
Freestyled for 30 mins today. Just worked the usual CBOP stuff & a lot of flip clips/butterflys. I have a few days before I go for some my records. I will play again before work again tomorrow. Yes, work. Crazy idea that work thing is.

A 50 min session before work. Just worked on CBOP stuff. Also worked a new combo/drill that I came up with. ss clip>pdx mirage>ss butterfly>pdx mirage rpt. This is really good for my flip clip/butter. I also tried to put ss butterfly in the same drill after the clip or butter. I got through it once. On strong side I went threw it real easy abt 5x to hand catch. I noticed since I have been working & analyzing the flip so much my strong is getting better too. I also like working the far clip>far lo>far clip>pdx mirage>ss clip>far lo...etc.. this works the flip real good too. Today I was leaning back to much & rushing things. It may have gotten better if I could kick longer. This CBOP should pay off.... someday.....

I missed a Net session with Rob & DJ Adams & Amy Westberg in Scottsdale today. They kicked at about 2pm. I woke up & called Rob to find out where they where kickin. Way to far away because I had to go to work later. That sucks! :(

Went to work for a while then came home for lunch because it was an easy night. Since I was home already I decided to kick. I kicked for 2 hrs & 15 mins. A pretty good session & a nice lunch break. haha  I wanted to try some thing different with my solo sessions to see if I can make some faster/more progress.

-warmed up with 500 consecutive kicks.
-then for abt 30 mins did some 2 add drills & consec.
-15 mins worked alternating pixies & mirage>pixie rpt.
-15 mins consec clips & alternating clips
-15 mins atomic set to hand catch & mirage>atomic set to hand catch.
-15 mins for butterflys. consecs & infinities.
-finished off the session with BOP drills!
-then did some pushups, situps, & lifted a bit.
-then worked some kung fu for about 45 mins.

Old man's has to keep in shape. haha. I didn't always hand catch every set obviously. Damn leg gets in the way. :x  I will continue to work this idea to see if will tighten up my game. My flip clip/butter felt pretty good. I was just trying to concentrate on keeping my left foot still since I always seem to drop it to much. It helped a bit. We will see!

Until next time...
