if you didn't get my message, james randall made that video

hey Sam,
What's up man? Congrats on the engagement.
[/bullshit]
I just wanted to let you know that I took down the link to the youtube SJFF video, but only temporarily. From the sound of things, the makers of the video didn't mean to release it this early, and had planned on releasing it in a couple weeks as part of the Christmas calendar project. Looks like your passion for footbag foiled them But yeah, for the sake of everybody's enjoyment of the xmas calendar, I've temporarily hidden the thread, so that most people's first exposure to the vid will be as intended.
[bullshit]
Are you going to Worlds in Florida? Hope you are doing well,
I'm glad you included yourself in that nice explosion of F words.
Randall PM'ed me asking me to post his video. I pm'ed him back asking if he would be cool with me using it for the calender. He never got back to me. Thus, I took no action.
When you posted it, I posted in the thread that I wanted to use it for the calender. If you don't know, I'm kind of worried about filling all 25 days.
I was not the one who took it down. Ken did. Perhaps he did that before asking you because he didn't want a lot of people to see it (thus wrecking the surprise).
I thought it was a fine move by him. If you think there is some kind of problem with it perhaps you should act more rationaly rather than "fucking the system".
Unless the other mods decide otherwise, I'm gonna leave the thread here.
Just so people understand the entire situation, here's my understanding of what happened.
1. Dave Clavens decided to organize a X-mas calendar of footbag videos, continuing the popular tradition established by Tuukka last year.
2. James Randall made a vid, which I assumed was for the calendar, which was supposed to be released during the cycle of xmas videos, beginning on December 1st.
3. Randall must have uploaded the video to YouTube early, but I think the intention was that the video wasn't supposed to be released until the xmas calendar kicked off.
4. Sam found the video on youtube, and posted it in the video section. I'm guessing he didn't know it was supposed to be kept secret. Fair enough, no harm done.
5. Clavens posts, explaining that this early release was a mistake, and that he didn't want to release it until the xmas calendar kicks off.
6. I found the thread, and after reading Sam and Clavens' posts, I realized it was an innocent mistake, so I moved the thread to the mods section to hide it (so the video would be fresh when released for the calendar), and then I sent PMs to Sam and Dave Clavens to explain why I was hiding the thread.
7. Clavens PMs me thank you for saving the surprise for the Xmas calendar.
8. Sam creates this thread. He also re-posts a personal PM I wrote him without my permission, and tells me to fuck off.
9. I ask myself for the 30th time in as many days: "why do I bother being a moderator on this site?" Seriously, I have a final exam tomorrow morning, an econ problem set due tomorrow night, and a 20 page paper due the day after. I don't have time to clean up the forums, and then send out polite PMs (which I did anyway), only to have people give me needless shit. I used to babysit when I was in middle school, but at least back then I got something like $5 an hour.

Just for the record, Randall just wanted it posted in general, he has yet to respond to my request to put it in the calender. Either way though, he wanted me to put it up.
shrug. i dont really care enough to fight this, repost the link.
I also do not care what happens. Post the link. Whatever.
I just am disappointed that my (and other mods) efforts to keep this site running well are constantly met with irrationality and disrespect. I personally know Sam, and he knows I'm not a bad guy. I take out valuable time from my day to send him a polite PM explaining my actions, and I get this kind of shit.
Sorta off topic, but i just wanted to say thanks for all you're doing for the forum Ken, you are a great guy and i think everyone besides the few assholes that give you shit really appreciate most of what you Mods do to keep the site up.
And Sam, if "the system" you are talking about is modified where people like ken and david are really working hard to make this place a good medium for the footbag comunity to comunicate in, and try and set up cool things like the christmas calendar for everyones enjoyment, then take your own advice (the last one of the fucks) and leave the system sparing us the drama.
so if i'm reading this right james randal hasn't given david permission yet.....so without the video makers permission you've taken down his video and forbade a link being posted to it and also taken it for your own project all without permission....and we're mad at sam? i looked it up on youtube it's a pretty good video, i like it a lot.
Man, if he sent you a nice enough PM explaining what he did than there was no need to flame him. For christ's sake, let the man do his job without any bullshit. He didn't even do anything fucked up to you. He politely explained why he did what he did (which was reasonable in all aspects) and all you do is try and flame him...why? What good could possibly come of that?
david wrote:actually 2 days ago he sent me the video reencoded for the calender. i think thats permission.
ok, it sounded a lot different in your other posts because you kept saying that he hadn't given you permission or responded to your request, sorry for the misunderstanding.
There is no video link in this thread, please create a topic titled "The Kicking (Ass) Circle" and move this thread to it.
The entire conversation between Sam, Ken, and David can and should be handled privately, as the details of the conversation have little to do with Joe user of modified.in. If the intention of this post was to expose some abuse of power by the moderators, then it would be worth something. I personally think this was a simple mistake that through some polite conversation could have easily been resolved.
Someone stumbled onto a footbag video online and thought it would be nice to share this video with the modified community. The post for the video was then moved under the assumption that it was to be included in a larger project on a later date. An argument between the video postee and the moderators ensued, and here we are.
I have two recommendations.
1) Add a link to the video in question here. If a better version comes out for the Christmas Calendar, then I will have two versions. Hooray for me.
2) Settle this argument, if not already settled, privately.
