MMORPG's

Post by gMoney »

anyone play any independant online MMO's? ive played a couple, but the kind i'm talking about arent ones like guild wars and world of warcraft. some of the free, independantly owned ones are actually really good games, despite bad graphics and some bad music. a couple years ago i really got into MMO's because i didnt really want to spend lots of money on computer games, so i downloaded cool-looking games that i found or that my friends started playing before. incase you're wondering, an MMORPG stands for Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. some good games i found online and started playing are:
-runescape
-maple story
-endless online
-and tried installing gunz, but it stops downloading at 94%
and ive probably tried a couple more, but i dont remember. i havent played any of these games in at least a year, but i thought it would be a cool subject to bring up on modified in the arts and leisure section. or a retarded one. anyone else play any of these games or have any to add to the list?

I used to play RuneScape, and was like the best person at school...

It got boring pretty fast. :)

yeah once you realize its nothing but point-and-click, it gets pretty boring. you just sit there day after day clicking a screen. then you go to take the garbage out but you dart outside and back in because the sun hurts. i think the problem with most MMO's is that they really are addictive, and arent as fun as you think they are. like you get obsessed with the idea of the game before you start playing, and it just isnt very rewarding.

yeah i started playing that game, but only for a couple weeks. i think that some text based games are ok, but i dont really like them overall. one game i really liked was called Crime Nation its in the same format as kings of chaos only its like gang wars. i kinda liked it a little more but only because im not that big a fan of medieval-based stuff unless its truely amazing. thats kinda why i played runescape for a long time, because it was like a modern take on the middle ages. kinda. idk its weird to explain :?

i know.... i was just idk... its like reading lord of the rings versus like chaucer id much rather read lord of the rings because of the fantasy element in it. and id rather be playing a game with a background i like, than one thats still cool but with a premise i dont care for. that about sums it up lol if you can even read it :) im just weird is all

p.s. i wouldnt read chaucer or lord of the rings it was just an example. i dont like reading :P

Yeah, I used to play Runescape and I played Tibia for a little bit. They were ok, but they just arent for me. I was playing and then all of a sudden I realized wow, I walk around leveling up and for what? I spend tons of time leveling but you can't ever win. I spent all that time levelling up and once you are done, what have you actually done. There is nothing more for you to do. So I quit.

Pretty awesome text-based MUD, once you get used it. Been playing it for almost 7 years on and off. It got pretty boring after about 5 though =/

I used to play Guild Wars, an MMORPG based on PvP, from the Beta events until about a year and a half after release. I ended up being guild leader of a top 10 ranked guild in the world.

I sold my account on ebay after the game got boring and a certain kind of format became incredibly stupid and overused.

I used to play WoW. It's a good game, but yes, it consumes you.

I quit because of year 12, but I'm very nostalgic about the game.
