Nice job man, I would buy one if I was going. :)
It was boring so I added a little more anatomy with the lines and shading. I used photo references for both poses and I agree the arm position could have been more dynamic but I was a bit pressed for time since I came up with the final idea about a week ago. So I just did the best with what I had. Ugh, Im such a procrastinator.

Oroza wrote:maybe add bits of the square grid? maybe like the effect the 'hack off' has, like worn off lines on cement.

it looks good as is though

are you only making black shirts? i like armyish green or beige or a dark red. white and blue....done to death.

edit: ooh ooh give the one doing the sole kick a mohawk, speaking of, are you?
A court was part of the initial idea but I omitted it thinking it was a bit redundant since the text was already implying what was going on... and I'm a minimalist.

I'm getting them printed on a relatively dark colored shirt for as much contrast as possible but at the same time avoiding black and navy since I've already used those. I won't know for sure until I go to the printer and see what they have.

And yes, I'm getting a my hair did.

That's my favorite comment so far! If I have extras I'll *try* selling them online.

CIC flurry wrote:I love it! The arm is that way in real life. It seems like the whitness of the characters could be shaded, but no shade/detail has a simplenes that's nice. I like the detail on the bottom of the shoe.
I was going for a simple and flat cartoon look but all my previous shirts were flat. It was time for a change. I was really hoping to use one of your poses for the flying knee but when I was doing the layout it just wasn't working out. Thank you very much for all your help and input on this though!

janis wrote:Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick :D
I love that shirt !!!
having a a footbag on it would make it even better, please post some details about how to get one of these shirts :D
Footbag added, finally. I hope to sell them out at the New Year's Jam. If I have any extras I'll *try* to sell them online. I'll have to check shipping costs outside of North America... it could be ugly, so no promises.

james_dean wrote:Wow, it just gets better! That looks so mad.

The detail on the bottom of the shoe is gone... I liked that too!

I think "Hack off" looked better in white but they both look mad. And I guess grey sort of looks like concrete.

I don't think the arm looks boring at all :!:
I'll have to put the shoe detail back...I don't even know how it got erased to be honest. The first preview definately needed more expression so I tried adding their "game faces" I liked how it worked out. I think it accurately reflects our games this year, they can get pretty intense. I also like the martial-arts-esqueness of the figures, it makes for a more intriguing image. Inside kicks, "jesters", clippers and whirls have all been done and I wanted to stray away from them. I wanted something out of the ordinary (even for footbag) from the actionand the view.

After the figures were shaded the white hack off! "popped" too much. I wanted to tone it down since it's more or less a backround element.

acxel22 wrote:My honest opinion:
I did'nt like the white one, but the shaded one looks great!
The shading was actually just a test run. I liked the way it turned out so much that I just used in the final design.

Isilwar wrote:The arm looks better with the muscle definition.

Sorry if you didn't want any criticism before, didn't mean to like... say it sucked or anything. Because it's really really good. Like I said before, I would totally buy one.
No, no, no! I should have been more clear that I wanted constructive criticism. Other people's fresh perspective often hlelps to pick out any problems that I would easily miss having been working on the same thing for a period of time. I ask Reile to check out my progress often and he's been a huge help on my work. The main problem was that I did not post it earlier so I that I would have more time to utilize any tips and further develop the image.

Thanks to everyone for the replies! Submitting to the printer tomorrow. Oh, and to be clear, this is NOT the official event shirt. There were a few people who expressed interest in making a 4-square shirt and some of the club members offered to help raise the funds to make it happen.

So I've been to the printers twice this week... it will simply be too expensive to print the shirts as it is... I'll just leave them flat white with no shading, I'll spice up some of the line work to try and compensate... color of the shirts still to be determined. I'm kinda bummed about not getting it with the shading but I guess it was my own fault for not knowing what was possible financially and print wise. I'm really determined not to get any 'smalls' I remember only getting 2-3 requests last year. If at least 4 people can commit to buying a small shirt from me I'll order 6 (minimum unit). If not then medium is the smallest size I'll order. I'll put in the final order with the revised art on Monday morning.
Keep in mind that these ARE NOT the official event shirts and there will be no text/sponsors on them.

EDIT:
Request for small shirt = 4
6 small will be orderd

I've also got a few of these in black with sponsors (2 Large) and navy blue (10 medium and 4 large) with no sponsors on the back. Some will be donated as prizes and the rest will be on sale.

YO Zeke. I think I PMed you about an XL because I'll buy one at NYJ. Also looking forward to FINALLY meeting you!

As far as colors go, I looked at Wikipedia for Chicago's flag colors, and they are White/Red/Light Blue. Just thought I'd throw those out at you if you wanted to rep Chicago.

See? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago

Well man, that's about it. Oh if you've got any XL's of the Freestyle shirts I'll buy one of those too for the $30 combo man. I'm all for new footbag apparel.

The art will be printed on a grayish blue shirt and should be done by next wednesday. I had two lengthy meetings with the printer and finaly came to a compromise with what I really wanted to see in a 4-square shirt and what was practical for me to print. This shirt, more so than any other was also a struggle between what kind of images I like to see and what kind of images I think people will buy. The latter takes most of the consideration since the guys will be investing their own money to help make it happen. I felt confident with all my previous shirt art, but for whatever reason, there's just the slightest hint of doubt in this one. Like I tried to play it too safe and it came out somewhat boring...something like that. I just can't place it. As an illustration, though, I love it. I'll be making something for myself... kinda like a director's cut

Played footbag today! Fifty degrees, wet and windy aren't exactly ideal conditions but that's a blessing in December. Tom and Tony and I met at Lane and played some BIG-ASS 4/6-square! I played well considering the time off, only winning a pair of 2S matches. Tom was destroying everything in sight winning just about everything we played. Tony played well too. He's come off a back injury and really looked like he was playing to make up for lost time. 9-square was tons of fun despite my headache. Lots of nonsense, as usual. But in a good way. Most of it. Gotta love the Lane kids

points of interest:
-I did some kind of kick combo that the guys seemed to like but I dont recall what it was exactly... I just remember missing
-Tom showing us just how sharp Chris' legs are
-The view of the beauty alon
-Marty explaining Cudo's friday nights

Tom chilled at my place and tried to iron out more details for NYJ. We should definately do another installation of CIC Memories. I'm thinking I might do one particular moment of the 4th of July Rooftop BBQ... or the incident that was bugging me when we went camping.

Reile and I have a small 2 bedroom apartment but we are more than willing to accommodate as many footbaggers as is practical to stay before and after the event. It's free to stay, we understand that money is real tight around the holidays. All we ask is that our guests follow a few simple rules.

1. NO FOOTBAGGING in the apartment. Please. It's an old building with thin walls and floors and we are on the third floor with neighbors directly below us and next door to us. Despite a few complaints from other neighbors about the noise we've made (when we host players) we are in good standing with our landlord and would like to keep it that way. We KNOW it's hard not play when hanging out with other kickers but there will be plenty of time for that at NYJ. We ask that you respect our neighbors and keep the noise at a minimum, particularly late at night.

2. Bring your own towels and sleeping bags. We simply do not have enough extra blankets and pillows to provide for everybody so please bring what you need to make your stay more comfortable. It can get cold at our place at night and we have no control of the thermostat.

3. There is a small open area in the back porch for cigarettes. Other than that there is no smoking in the apartment.

Thank you for reading, your patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated.
EDIT:
I know this should have been posted earlier but I've had other things on my mind.
