I said it was nice to hear, not that I believed it. :-)

That is the best response I could have hoped for.

I've been really busy with school stuff recently. I've also been going to the gym several times a week and I'm in better shape than I've been in for a while.

11/21 Tuesday
I went to Stanford for the first time in a REALLY long time. It was fun. :-) I think there was a 7 person circle which broke up into two circles, then became one circle and 2-Square game.

Before the session Steve and I were the only ones there so we played 2-Square. I don't know how many (few) points I got; needless to say, Steve won both games. I like that 2-Square is a game. Like, if I play net I want to play it as a game, not a sport. Just for fun, not so much to work hard to get better. Not that I've been working hard with Freestyle as of late...

I remember trying barrage for the first time in a really long time. I only tried it on my strong side. Ben tried rev. whirl for the first time and got it. The younger players in the club seem to be improving at a steady pace, it's great. They said they were going to make it to SC for a stitching session during last week but that didn't happen. Maybe soon.

Sat night I hung out with Ahren in SF. We went to the midnight movie which was a warped movie titled Brazil. I've been listening to the theme song from the night ever since then. It was my first time driving a manual in SF but don't be impressed, I avoided all the big scary hills.

12/1 Today I went straight from work to Jeremy's for a 2-person schooling session in his garage.
-strong and flip pixie op dyno
-plo>mirage>plo>mirage
-clipper set dlo bsos
-clean barrage strong side
-pixie same mirage>pixie same mirage
-hit my first paradon

Afterwards we slipped into an imaginary 2-square game, then we practiced net under the pretense that it was for 4-Square. :-P  It was a lot of fun.

Later my night included a pool hall, 40's on the train trestle, and Spike & Mike's Sick and Twisted Animations. How nice.

Surprisingly good Sunday.

I slept in until 11am, then Jason and I went to downtown SC for some secret Christmas shopping. (So don’t tell Jennie.) It was BEAUTIFUL outside. Last week it was down to the 30’s, but today was in the mid 70’s and it felt SO good in the sun. :-D

When I woke up my back felt really weak, so I knew I wasn’t going to play today at the park. I went anyway to hang out and be in the sun watching net. It was a smaller turn out than the last few times I’ve gone, but the relaxed feeling went well with this beautiful summer day in December. It’s still weird to me that a few years ago I lived where they are now talking about sledding. It's unseasonably warm and I'm loving it.

Anyway, fun stuff happened.

EJ, Dirk, Max and I were playing hack with one of these

and a guy and girl walked up. The guy was curious about the shuttlecock because he had never seen anything like it. He joined our circle then gave us all free RedBull since they work for RedBull. They were supposed to be energizing surfers but got lost, lucky us. 8) He had a 12 panel dirt bag in his pocket. The net players each got a can of RedBull, then the RB people came over so we could show them freestyle. I got employment information from them since they get paid really well to hand out free drinks to people. That would be such a fun job. The guy said he might be back next Sunday.

I did end up playing so I could help show the RedBull people what freestyle was but after that I sat down. Max schooled hard for … I don’t know how long. A long time. He worked on inside stalls for a while and he could already do clipper kick on his strong side so I suggested that he try clipper stalls. He worked so hard for so long and hit it both sides. At the end he had it about 60% of the time with his right foot and left foot was about 30%. He is still in skater shoes so I told him I had to get the obligatory “when are you going to get Lavers?â€

Last night I picked Max and EJ up then we went to Jeremy's for a session. Woo!

EJ and Jeremy already posted their highlights.

I tried schooling atomic on my flip side and failed. :o:P
Pdx mirage>drifter>infinity>pdx mirage>drifter.
Dimwalk>pdx mirage>rpted I think to 8 contacts or so.
A couple of decent strings in the beginning.

Don't remember what else.

Besides kicking the hell out of my lower inner left thigh. A little skin was ripped off and it's definitely feeling bruised today. :-)

Oh yeah, I got props in Chat for the hideousness of the naked mole rat.
Height or Heighth?
The noun form of broad is breadth, the noun form of long is length, and the noun form of wide is width.
Because of this, some people follow the pattern and say heighth, with a th at the end of the word high. That is not standard English. The correct form is height.
Notice the vowel change with an ei. It is not ie because it does not make the long e sound.

Incorrect: What is your heighth above sea level?
Correct: What is your height above sea level?

Saturday::

Fletcher left for winter break. And my father woke me up with a phone call at 10am, on a Saturday. I know!

So I tried to wake everyone up for footbag. Max, EJ, Jeremy, Eric Chang, but Max was the only one silly enough to answer his phone.

Max and I hung out and I taught him how to start stitching a 32. He finished 3 pents and has the rest of the fabric cut out so he can keep going. I got a guitar lesson in exchange for the stitching lesson, fun. We picked EJ up and drove to Jeremy's place to play in the garage even though Jeremy wasn't home. I forgot my piece of paper there so I'll see what I can remember.
-pdx drifter both sides
-I hit double switch-over for the first time on my right side. I could not get it flip side, frustrating how close I was so many times.
-worked on pdx mirage>illusion>butterfly for a while

Sunday:

EJ, Jeremy, Dirk and I played a game of net. It's been a while since I've played, but my serves were okay (compared to the last time I played) because I used my toe instead of inside. I didn't expect to play net so I was wearing my lavers. Yuck. I mean ouch.

I didn't have a session but I showed off freestyle to a girl named Kathrin. She's from Switzerland and had seen people playing freestyle and net before. I told her to tell them hi from the footbag players in Santa Cruz if she ever sees them playing again when she's home. At first she couldn't kick it more than twice, but she practiced alternating inside kicks and got to 4. She also tried toe stalls for the first time, and by the end she got toe stall>toe stall x5, I was way excited.

I love that my blog is the place to talk shit. Anyone else who feels the need should feel free to join in until further notice.

I will post about my winter break and NYJ soon, probably after I get back to Santa Cruz on the 4th. But for now I'm at Zeke/Reile's house right now having a very good time. Happy Christian New Year.

P.S. Chrissy, John gave me that hug from you. :o :)

Freddy, you keep dreaming, man. As you get better, I get better twice as fast. :-)

Steve

P.S. Zeke and I must have played about 30 two-square games total. It was really fun. Thanks for the practice, Zeke. And Freddy, it was fun playing with you (especially knocking you out in 4-square :-)).

Emily is sick (at footbag)

I didn't really play Steve at 2 square. 2x with pants, and 1-2 other times while tired. Next time.
