San Marcos, TX Jam #2, SUNDAY 12/17 12:00pm - 5pm ish

Post by Iron Clad Ben »

Hey Southern Shred Heads. Back in September what started out as a small shred session blossomed into a decent sized jam in San Marcos, TX (halfway between Austin and San Antonio). We all swore we needed to do it again. Well, with winter break happening in 2 months the kids are out of school and Jose C and Luis L are back in the Lone Star State. So that means we gotta have a shred session.

Date set:
SUNDAY DEC 17TH
NOON - 5PM

Sewell Park is pretty close to being the ultimate shred spot. If someone can get us an indoor spot in San Marcos, awesome. But, hopefully it will be warm enough that we can shred outside.

Let's use this thread to discuss the optimal day to do it, and other logistics. Then once it's set, we can spread the word

Tentatively attending:

Me (Austin)
Cody R (Austin)
John F (Austin)
James G (Austin)
Jose C (San Antonio / Denver)
Luis L (Austin / Ithaca)
Jesse L (Austin)
Andrew K (Austin / San Marcos)
Mike S (Houston)
Curtis T (Houston)

Crash Space info:
I moved into a new place with my gf that's smaller and I no longer have room to have ppl crash at my place. We may still be able to work out other details. PM me and I'll see what we can do.

Uh ohhh.

Do you have a date range?

If it's the 22nd or beyond, I can make it (probably-maybe-fucking-HOPEFULLY)

I wanna shred with some real shredders!

I'm waiting to hear back from the President of the Cornell Bear Feet Footbag club *cough*Luis*cough* to see when he'll back in Austin. Jose will be back in town on the 15th, so I am thinking Saturday Dec 16th assuming Luis can make it. I want to do it on the date most people can make it.

Zac as discussed over PMs, 11 hours driving each way for 5 hours of footbag is a hell of a lot. I suggested meeting up with the Tulsa guys who are only 4.5 hours away.

Dude I'd love to have you down again. This will only be a 1-day shred session. Not a big event. You are welcome, but you guys should consider having a jam with the Kansas guys, they are only 4.5 hours away. If it took you 10 hours to get to Austin it would take you almost 11 to get to San Marcos.

I appreciate the interest! I'm not trying to discourage anyone from coming, but this is only gonna be a one day jam. No competition, just get together and shred. I don't want to get anyones hopes up about a massive event. Furthermore, I've moved into a new place with girlfriend and we don't have room for anyone to crash like I used to in the past.

More details to come soon. It will be a lot like the event we had in September.

Dec. 16th works just fine for me. I'll be there. And I'll hype it up with the Houston crowd. :)

I'll ask Mike. I wonder if Curtis has been shredding lately since he got that diggity-dank-ass new bag. If Curtis actually practiced a few times a week, he could be a top tier player.

OK, we had to change the date since the crazy University of Texas has final exams on a Saturday! WTF?!?! So we need to change to Sunday 12/17 or other wise Cody and James won't be able to make it. Is that cool with people?

OOoh, I own a video camera now. So we will definitely be makin' another vid. I can't wait for this session! My injury is finally healing up and I can hit so many new tricks since last time :)

I'm down with whatever day - so as long I get to shred with as many people as I can.

Ben, what kind of tape does your video camera use? I can buy a couple tapes if need be. Don't forget to charge your camera all the way ; )

O yeah, is Sam C. going again?

weather.com: Occasional showers possible. Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the upper 50s. 30% chance of precipitation.

should be alright. I'll let Andrew know about this, and see if he has a backup indoor place in mind in case it rains. i'm looking forward to this.

So when is the sesh/jam going to start? Noon again, maybe. I'd really like a start time so I know when to leave my house.

Other than that, I'm ready for SUNDAY!

I'd like to leave Austin by 11:15 so that we hit any traffic or need to hit up some food along the way it's no problem.

Mike and Juan might join me, but I'm not fully counting on it.

So should I bring a tape of some sort, or is that all taken care of?

Hope everyone's ready cuz I'm bringing my new bag of tricks!!!

Man I hope Mike and Juan make it, that would be awesome. I've heard stories about how good those guys used to be. I have plenty of tapes (3hrs worth), but I think I may pick up a spare battery :)

Anyway, anyone needs to get in touch with me tomorrow, cellphone 512-423-3712 (remind me to edit this out tomorow)
