Andrew!

Glad to see you've started a footblog!
After looking at your list of moves, I have a couple recommendations.

Pixie: Try Dimwalk or Pixie Clipper instead of Pixie Legover at least sometimes. Personally, I find PLO a little harder.

Illusions: Really school your ss legovers from Clipper. It's basically the same motion and should help. Illusions take more practice than almost any other 2, but they are still fundamentally important. Keep trying normal ones from toe too!

Drifters, huh? Man I can't wait to shred with you again! How many consecutive Drifters can you do?

Have you tried Diving yet? Whirls?

Try Spinning Butterfly and Spinning or Ducking Osis!!

Hope you have an update soon, let us in the FAT blog know when you'll be around!

Sooo, not too much improvement lately, and after watching a video with drifter I realised I wasn't really doing it all along. I think what I've been doing is a toe set OP osis, or something, because the footbag passes behind both legs. My bad :O lol. Haven't really worked Illusions much, I find them pretty tiring/frustrating. Perhaps I will focus more on diversity in my strings, as I've been finding them to be pretty repetetive, consisting of a lot of toe set mirages, legovers, and butterflies, with the odd pick-up or paradox/symposium mirage. Ducking has become a major frustration, as it rarely makes it past my neck anymore. I haven't been footbagging as much lately because I've been waiting for my abshire to arrive to test it out, and it did arrive a few days ago, so I guess I don't have an excuse anymore :P On a lighter note I spent a few hours at the YMCA and hit my first Whirls, and may have even gotten a couple of people interested in freestyle. Anyway, I haven't been in Toronto lately, but hope to get in for some shred soon! Ciao,

-Andrew

Edit: What I thought was Drifter, or Osis is actually Dada Curve

So during a session in the Oshawa Center today, I broke my record Tiltless run record. The new record is 17 contacts, with a few butterflies thrown in. I've started putting pixie clippers into my strings... Those and whirls feel so crisp mid-string, hope I can get more consistent with both. I'd also like to throw double pick-ups and double leg-overs into strings, but they continue to need more work. All in good time I suppose.

Props for 17! Felt great I bet.
While i'm at it, pre-emptive props for reaching 25 tiltless!

Maybe you could devote part of each session you have to increasing run length. Try to increase your lonmgest string each week until you hit 40 contacts or something.

Thanks for the props :D I think I certainly will try to break the run record on a regular basis. I was actually thinking an average run length of 25-30 would be nice before I try hitting anymore big tricks. It's just so tempting to hit new tricks all of the time. I'm usually let down by a session if I don't hit anything new, but I'll get over that eventually I'm sure. Maybe I'll just keep trying to hit my 2 new 4-ADDs, Blender, and Paradon, and then focus on getting as consistent and efficient as possible with all of my 2-ADDs and easy 3's. I can readily admit that my fundamentals need a bit of work, mainly on my flipside.
I wish it wasn't getting so damn cold here, but at least winter is starting its journey to an end. Until that day I'll just look clinically insane wearing shorts in -20 weather.

Andrew,

I would love to shred with you again! You seem to have improved so much since we played at Vari Hall! Congratulations on how you've progressed since then; the best is yet to come, of course!

Hey Josh,

Thanks for the kind words! If you look up the post in the FAT blog you will see that I'll most likely be in Toronto on sunday, possibly with a friend that is just starting out. You should come out then! My improvements may not be that exciting to see, my tiltless runs only make it to around 8-10 on average, and I'm lucky to get more than one or two clean 3's in a string. I suppose that is an improvement on the 3-4 contact tiltless strings I was hitting when we last met though. Anyways, another session today at the Oshawa Center. I tried two new tricks, without much success. Those being Whirling Swirl, and Symposium Whirl. The Whirling Swirl got fairly close I guess. Symposium Whirl never touched my foot on the ending clipper :D. Blender is proving to be more difficult than I anticipated, it's quite an awkward motion. Best run today was 13 contact tiltless, with a couple Butterflies and a Whirl. Hit an alright run, didn't get a count on it, but I hit Symposium Mirage mid-string, haven't done that in a while/very often. That was really all for today.

Pretty good session yesterday with Erik Chan, and Alex Venis. It took me and Alex a while to sort out the maze of Downtown to find Erik's place, but it was well worth it. Both Erik and Alex were awesome guys. But anyway.

Highlights that I remember:
-Swirl>Whirl
-Whirl>Whirl
-First Ducking Mirage
-Ducking Butterfly
-Some 10ish contact strings with clean 3s
-Spinning Clipper>Osis

That's all I can think of, but I think there was some other half decent stuff.

So, my day started out horrible, with my boss fucking me over for work. I decided to go take out my frustration on a Footbag at the YMCA. It was definitely my best session, EVER. It all started out pretty average, but then I started schooling Osis. Hit 4 b2b before giving up on that. Next I started some whirls. That was all fine and dandy, but then I decided to experiment... I ended up with the following highlights:

- Butterfly Swirl
- Ducking Symposium Mirage
- Whirling Swirl
- Whirl>Whirl>Whirl> Pick-u<drop>
- Swirl>Whirl>Whirl
- Whirl>Swirl
- Swirl>Butterfly>Op Butterfly>Paradox Mirage
- Ducking Butterfly mid-tiltless-string

And for the most exciting of them all (for me anyway), after a while of drilling Swirls, I thought of Vasek, and was like, "I wonder if I could pull off Ripstein..."
In fact, I didn't hit it. But I got very close, and double dexed on more than one occasion. Funny how I'm most proud of the trick that I ALMOST hit >.<

It was a very long, intense session, and as soon as I got home and tried to pull off my Lavers, I pulled a muscle in my leg and collapsed. And my left ankle is pretty sore from repeating swirl as well. But it was very much worth it :D

EDIT: I can hardly stand up to get out of my computer chair :)

Well done as always, Andrew!
Glad to see some sick higlights, but don't forget to work on longer strings as well! New tricks rock, but don't forget getting your tiltless runs to routinely pass 20+ contacts should also be a very near goal!

Will your legs be okay to come back for this Sunday shred? Because check the blog, it looks like maybe 9 or so people may be there!!!

Hope to talk to you soon and congrats again!
