why has nobody replied about new years eve party/plans
You know i would really like to know what were doing, if this goes ignored im gonna make plans elsewhere with other people.
I really prefer to be with my footbag peeps, but i also prefer to not be scrambling around at the last second trying to figure out whos having what house party at what time and whos going to what bar at what time.
come on people its new years eve its a big event!
Please tell me that someone somewhere has an idea or plan for that evening that will include our very much anticipated visitors
And before anyone says, were just going to be at the hotel........
Well thats nice, but im reffering to the actuall new years eve night which happens to be a sunday which is a full day after the cic suite is checked out.
so this message is for all the people staying for new years eve night and CIC.

if youre gonna be like that then i dont see how you can expect people to care about your plans.tuomoruutufan wrote:You know i would really like to know what were doing, if this goes ignored im gonna make plans elsewhere with other people.
...everyone already knows what they are doing... we are footbagging and having fun. who cares if we go to a party? i can party at home all that i want to... but ill hardly ever get the chance to hang out with some amazing footbaggers.
i think you have your priorities out of line. here are my priorities from the time i set foot in chicago: give gifts>footbag>hangout>footbag
i mean... its a footbag EVENT. sure, you might be bored with footbag and you want to party instead, but im not on that boat.
sorry if i offended you... but it needed to be said.

I added my thoughts, look for [TEXT]
The footbag event will be over by the night of new years eve
half the visitors will be out of town, cic i wont be in thier hotel suite, it is a full 24 hours after the event is over.
Its cold, there wont be anywhere to play footbag, its a simple question of what does everyone plan on doing that is in town.
will people have a hotel room to hang out in, will people be at zeke and rileys or is there something else i dont know about.
Im not tryting tell people what they should do with thier time, but im not gonna sit on my ass with no clue on whats going on whos going to be where.
So yeah i feel im justified in saying i will make other plans, cause as of right now new years eve night is just a big ? mark with no awnsers from anyone. If that makes me a jerk fine.
Im offended by the negative assumption you made on me, All i want to know is who is doing what and where ASAP, so that i can tell my gf and maybe a few of my friends who are also trying to find new years eve plans whats going on.
Is this message clear enough or will someone else pick it apart and find every negative assumed implication possible.

Shawn, there will be 2 montrealers and myself at Zeke's on new years eve. We have no idea what we will do, but we will probably do something.
I think most of the people staying don't have a clue what they will do either, since they don't live in chicago!
Anyways, something will happen, don't worry so much about it.

thanks, i was thinking it would be something at zekes apartment.
Who else will be in town on the night of new years eve
Not who will be at NYJ
but who will be here on dec 31/jan1 and who of those people want to
A. find a place to shred (let us know soon so we can find a place)
B. Party (i guess this is a topic to be presented to zeke since its assumed we will party at zekes) And i can also do some asking around for big house partys that will welcom a decent sized group to join thier shcwaray
C. go to a bar (the worst option considering most places require pre purchased tickets and places that dont will be wall to wall and very expensive in the city limits.
to all those who are concerned with the amount of shred time i can tell you this tid bit of info:
Last year the first 2 days of the event there was shred circles from 10am to 10 pm=24 hours
the last day there was a shred circle from 10am to 4pm=6 hours
thats a grand total of 30 hours, so if your concerned that 30 hours of possible shred circle time will not be enough and you want to make up that shred time on new years eve night....... then well i feel sorry for your legs.
but we are your host and if you want us to try and find a post event shred spot we will try our best.
just an fyi

My hopeful plans for the night of New Year's Eve:
Party with footbaggers @ Tim's since it's bigger than Zeke's.
Youngin's get tuckered out and go to bed or start playing legos, or having some sort of fun.
Go out with 21+ footbaggers, and get familiar with unfamiliar girls.
My first order of business is to make sure everyone is having fun somewhere. I'm one of the hosts for this event, and that's a responsibility. Therefore, I can't organize or commit to other shenanigans. But I will join up if possible.
I suggest, everyone who is interested in hitting the town, post in this thread. If there's enough takers, Shawn can plan something and we go with him. If you guys don't post there within the next few days, then you won't have somewhere definite to go out to.

Events
Rippin Run may be run the first day if there's time, so that Day 3 will be more free.
Freestyle event: We wanted one main event. We don't like routines. We wanted to do something different; we've always done shred30. I was thinking of something weird like Sick10. Though i think that was an event b4 right? and it morphed into shred 30. Anyway we chose Circle Comp because it's different and seems fun. We've never run it b4, so if anyone has (Tom, Jorden?) and we need help you can help us.

PRIZES
We're gathering prizes. If you can donate a bag or anything you'd think would be a good prize, please do so. We have some, but we can use more. Especially since there's no entry fees. We were hooked up last year by stitchers and sponsors and we thank them much.
Please consider donating to the event, and commit to it by PM'ing me or Zeke. I have a list of people who said they might be able to, and some that are for sure doing so.
THANKS

No wonder North Americans haven't been placing well at Worlds. Everyone's ditching routines here -- the event that helps demonstrate our sport. I don't agree with this at all.
You should ask the co-inventor himself -- Ianek. Isn't he still coming??CIC flurry wrote:Anyway we chose Circle Comp because it's different and seems fun. We've never run it b4, so if anyone has (Tom, Jorden?) and we need help you can help us.
And yeah, Tom also knows a thing or too about Circle.

Yeah, Ianek knows every little detail about circle, it's his baby!
Ive helped run more circle contests than anyone else in the world, I think. I wouldn't mind helping another one, they are pretty easy to do.
Regarding routines, they are pretty cool too actually. I have begun taking them slightly more seriously and it's surprisingly fun putting together a routine. The only challenge for running routines in a comp is having good judges, but if you plan on running a circle comp then you need them anyways.
So that means that you could run them easy if enough people really want them.
I am still stoked.

Sweet Ianek! I didn't know it was your baby. This will be great.
David (shred30) and Jorden (routines), I've never thought of New Year's Jam as preparation for Worlds, or serious competition in general. This is due to the fact of how NYJ evolved. But it is changing. Perhaps in the future.
More specifically about routines though: I've never enjoyed them or appreciated them. I once read Ahren German write about routines and how great they are, and it changed my mind. But I still haven't experienced it.

I'd also like to form a 3-4 person all-volunteer set up crew. We will help set up and dismantle the site at the beggining and end of every day and do other various grunt work that may arise. Some heavy lifting may be involved. We will need to show up just before the event starts every day. We'll start cleaning up about 20-30 minutes before the event ends.
some expected responsibilities:
--set up/put away sound system
--put up banners
--set up/put away chairs for spectators
--clean up garbage at the end of the day
--completely dismantle the site the last day which is basically a much more thorough job of what's listed above. In addition we may have to have to stack up all the tables and take apart the fence surrounding the site
PM me.
