again i'd like to stress that none of us should act as if we KNEW how dangerous lead in footbags is. Saying that playing/cuddling/bathing with a lead filled footbag will kill you is just as wrong as saying that it doesn't affect you at all.

all i know is that lead is a potentialy dangerous substance and that it accumulates in your body and can (when it has reached a certian level) cause various health problems.

if you feel like it you can check the safety data sheet for lead:
http://www.jtbaker.com/msds/englishhtml/l2347.htm

i know for a FACT that if you're a woman and you want to have babies at one point or are pregnant you should keep well away from lead containing salts (like lead nitrate). because salts are usually water soluble and therefore much more easily absorbed than pure lead (which is insoluble in water). Lead is known to cause birth defects! that's a fact. again, check the safety data sheet. (and trust me, i've been into this. my girlfriend is a chemistry teacher and currently pregnant, so we had to check a lot about potentially dangerous chemicals she uses during class).

once again the reminder that we have no idea how potentially dangerous lead filler in footbags is. i'm not trying to scare anyone or convince you not to use it anymore. my guess is also that it should be no problem but i don't know for sure. so i think its dangerous to tell people that its no problem at all.

personally, i've been using lead filled bags occasionally in the last 10 years or so and didn't have sleepless nights about it. however i'm not someone who loves his bags to death and i've only occasionally been a daily shredder. i now try to avoid lead filled bags (at least for the ones i buy). i have no problem with steel filler or other types of filler, but then i'm not such a huge fan of the heavy bags that seem to be in fashion currently.

[distraction]

"my discoveries on lead" hahaha, I keep having this hilarious image of the cleaver grinding up a bunch of lead, chopping a line, snorting it, and then making a bunch of discoveries.

all depends how you take the word "on", I guess... I read it like being "on" drugs.

obviously that's totally unrelated, though... sorry... [/distraction)

Hey, here is a message I've posted more than a year ago... about my blood tests...

The best way to know how bad it is, is to do a test!
