An Inconvenient Holiday

As the holidays approach us, let us all reflect on our personal choices. The Christmas holiday is one of the most wasteful time of year for North Americans, so this year, remember to recycle your gift-wrap, reuse your gift bags, and pick up some LED lights for your tree and outdoors. Let us all make an effort to make a difference. A little from each of us becomes a big difference in the end.

Also, if you can, look up your local freecycle community and save yourself some money for Christmas wrappings and decorations amongst lots of other things. Let's stop being wasteful consumers. Not everything needs to be new. Just freecycle what you no longer need and ask for that keyboard when yours goes haywire instead of buying a new one. One person's junk is another's treasure.

Wouldn't it be more pertinent to examine the original practice and its wastefulness as opposed to its waste? Just skirting the real issue which is our practice of Christmas itself, but whatever.
