Fiskar scissors micro-tip vs softtouch

Any opinion on the different types of fiskar scissors?

The bottom one has an actual handle while the top one doesnt have one that keeps your fingers secure. Although they are the same color and brand. I believe the top is better for garden use, and the bottom better for around the house.

holly uses the fiskars. she wont go back. this is her second pair.

i raced her using my singers (orangehandled,singers) and she beat my ass. but i probably would have lost anyways.

i dont like using them because i feel like i have less control over the blade, and the tip is wicked sharp.like two needles.

but she loves them.

i guess cutting is my least fav part of the bag process. my hands do tire of cutting facile...

i prefer short, 1in. scissor blades, and soft rubber grips. my crimson handled pair (rubber grip, short blade) was only 4 dollars, while the fiskars are 9-13.00

i think the second pair you posted are very large... like 5 inch blade.. too much imo. the fiskars holly has are 2.5 inch blades.

plus, my fingers are too big for some scissors.

but if you feel like having some nice scissors, they are the nicest ive found other than antique gold plated scissors. and i bet those arent even sharp.

i use the fiskars with the spring in them. in my opinion they are HANDS DOWN the best scissors EVER. your hand doesnt get tired after cutting out a few bags in a row. you do have control over them... that grey handle is rubbery grippy stuff so it doesnt fall out of your hand. they are EXTREMELY sharp... even on the tips. they are perfect for facile. it has a little orange lock so that you can keep them shut.

the ones you posted on the bottom... with the handle part for your fingers... are used more for gift wrapping or cutting long lengths of fabric.

the ones i use are only 9 dollars at wal-mart... well worth not having to use the kinds of scissors without the spring. the spring cuts down the stress on your hands.

although they take a minute to get used to.

Yeah, the handle for the pair below is used primarily to score across the sheet of fabric easily so that you don't essentially need to cut consistently through. The top pair is for more rigorous use, like layering fabrics and whatever.

I use a pair of garment scissors from Talon American, which is japanese stainless steel. I think some part of the blade's edge is a bit dull from using it to mod shoes (huge mistake) but other than that the scissors respond beautifully. You can even screw the blades together a bit tighter for more precise cuts.

If I get a Fiskar's brand scissor, I would get the Micro-tip. I used to cut my facile with a pair of miniature sheers before I switched to Talon American.

I got a pair of friskars with the spring stabbed straight into my foot a month ago and it bled like crazy. I don't look at them the same way anymore. I never really used them much because I didn't like how little control I had. If I didn't get the angle right, it was hard to adjust mid-cut.

We recently lost a pair of scissors I really liked. They were just plain haircutting scissors made by Wahl. They were the best scissors in our arsenal and had the little finger-catch handle that most haircutting scissors have so you have something to grip when you want to open the scissors up. Sharper and more precise than the friskars.

I am a die-hard fiskar man, even though mine are sucky and dull and bent and don't work that well anymore.

Also, my safety broke so they are in 'dangerous stabbing device' mode all the time.

I will be getting more fiskars and my love will be rekindled.

PS pengs hair-cutting scissors were actually incredible.
