I envy you guys, being able to kick.

I have no balance on ice... at all. I fell and bruised the side of my knee badly, the left side of my leg, and I fell with my backpack on and hurt my back a bit. And for some reason my neck has been hurting. But its my throatish area. I don't know why its hurting, it just is.

Fuckin' Snow. I HATE IT

My game is sort of getting back on track. Glad my ankle injury is clearing up. I want to play tonight but I have a lot of stuff to do. College applications and all.

I'm really stoked, I'm going to the Vancouver Jam the weekend of the 9th, and then the jam for Benny the weekend after in New York. With any luck I'll be able to kick it with 2/5ths of the MPC, but it's looking like Dave might not be able to hang, which would be too bad.

pretty good session on sunday with justin and sam, nothing special to post about it. last night i flipped out and thought i had lost almost all of my footbags. went to the gym and looked in the lost and found, nothing was there. i kicked for like 15 minutes but i couldn't consentrate(managed to hit ducking pdx mirage both sides) so i went home and tore apart my room and found them. hopefully a session tonight with sam, justin, and possibly danny, haven't seen him in a while.

I wish I could've came down today. Damn.

I haven't played much at all, due to the cold weather and everyone being broke as hell. Played yesterday, though. It was fun, but very hard to get warmed up? Maybe

Gonna be playing a lot when the new year starts. There is a hackysack club over at EdCC that my buddy started. w00t w00t. Indoor spot finally!

Yeah Boy!

I've gotten used to cold weather, so me and Dan have been kicking over at albertsons every other night.

I turned 20 yesterday. It was pretty okay. I realized that not many people knew that it was my birthday, but thats cool. I don't mind. My parents got me an ipod only for the sole reason that I lug a 10 pound cd case with me all the time, and now I won't be fucking my back up with a small little ipod.

Anyways, on to shred highlights.

I've been going off the chain, working on a lot of shuffle stuff. Its been fun. Lets see.....

Dimwalk>Blur>rpt.
Sidewalk>ripwalk>rpt.
Parkwalk>Crispy DLO(stepping far legover)>rpt
Stepping same clipper>stepping far clipper>rpt.
Tap>Atomsmasher>rpt.
I got close to Eggplant>PLO>Rpt, but I couldn't get the last plo. Dang.

Flail BS
Backside Smear BS(Finally)
Whirl BSOS
Drifter BSOS, almost b2b.
WitchDoctor
Frontside LegBeater
and Flip Smog.

I'm gonna start doing repitition with Whirls, Drifters, DLO, Double Downs, and possible Eggbeaters soon enough. trying them 25 times each side. I'm really hoping it will work out well.

Danny, I suggest you only work one of the components and instead of -trying- 25 each side HIT 25 each side. Otherwise you will make marginal and very scattered progress.

Props on your other shit. Glad to see you finally hit all that.

Thats about it for me, though.

Danny,

comments:

- use your arms more, seriously. the rest of your style is solid, you just really need to learn to use your arms for power. watch a video of vasek and look at how he holds his body on a regular old clipper. mimic that! (SERIOUSLY)
- have more intense sessions. today's session wasn't excessively hardcore. :) try having a week where you play for an hour and a half each day, five days in a row. and don't just dink around, be playing productively the whole time. (provided you can find a place to play, anyway)

challenges:

I gave it some thought, and I don't think these are too unrealistic. If you can bust ass and attain these you'll have a much stronger foundation:

- 100 butterflies
- 50 osises
- one touch (butter>pdx mir>rpt) 50 contacts
- tiltless drill x2 (read: 64 contacts)
- mirage 5x>legover 5x>rpt>illusion 5x>pickup 5x>rpt
- 6 ripwalks
- 10 stepping clippers bs
- rip>side>stepping clip>rpt
- rubberman (starting from each trick)
- blur>smear>dimwalk>rpt (starting from each trick)
- smp mirage>smp pixie>rpt (10-12 contacts)

I'm not sure how you learn best, but if you haven't tried before, try practicing this shit like this:

-write all this down on a piece of paper with space to make notes by each
-have a session and attempt each of these combos
-keep trying these combos until you feel like you've maxed yourself out (like if you keep getting 4 or 5 contacts of whatever combo and you just CAN'T get past it)
-write down your records
-next session approach them the same way, be mindful of style and form, try and break your records
-keep doing this each session until you hit your goal

I dunno, maybe this doesn't work for you, but this is how I school and it seems to work well. I really think these are good combos for you. If you can get through and hit like, 6 ripwalks, you'll have way more energy and you'll be able to attempt easier stuff with less effort.

The more you persevere the better the results.
