pros?cons?

most of my friends have Ipods and they all reccomend the Zen more, but say the ipod has better customer support and doesnt freeze as much.

im propably geting a creative zen vision m for christmas, and believe it is very comparable to the ipod.
pros
-larger screen
-better looking screen
-built in microphone
-fm radio
-compatable with more video formats
-30g memory
cons
-slightly larger than the ipod
-some people dont like its looks as much, but i do.

Check out the Cowon/iAudio (A2 and X5) and Archos (504) players too. They allow you to drag and drop files onto and off of the player like a hard drive, which I greatly prefer over using software like iTunes.

hey I'm about to buy one of these, either an Ipod or the creative, why is one better than the other?

I pretty much just want 30gb for music and to be pc/mac compatible, gapless playback. video and radio....I dont really care about that much, audio recorder....internal mics always suck ass.
Plain, with everything.

How much are you willing to spend?

pros on Ipod:
-thinner
-capable w/both mac and pc
-better customer sevice if something goes wrong
-more accesories
-easier to learn controls

pros on Creative vision:M
-better video quality
-cheaper
-comes in lots of colors
-supposedly better battery life(i think 60 and 80gb ipod has mega good batt life)
-works with more music AND video file types

cons for Ipod
-needs some other music file type
-"" with video files
-cant adjust back light
-poor video playback
-no FM radio

cons for vision:M
-SIZE
-uses a weird connector thing to charge

cons for both
-scratch easy

Both are pretty good i guess, its really your preference.

how thick is the creative zen compared to the iPod?

I'm leaning toward the Creative just because nobody else that I know has one. (as of the last day of school before the holidays anyway... )

Who the fuck cares how thin it is, I cant fit an ipod video in my pocket anyways... The zen vision: M all the way. It is much better and is cheaper too.

Ipod video has 6 hours more battery life, but who cares, the creative zen supports more audio/video/picture formats than the ipod video, plus its cheaper, there is a deal on it right now for 180 dollars free shipping, I'll find the link for you.

Uh...the zen also has a video output so you can watch the videos on your play on tv. It has radio, clock, calander, and a bunch of other stuff. Custom wallpapers I think.

Look at this review: http://www.epizenter.net/e107_plugins/c ... ?content.9

Heres the deal, I believe you get 20 dollars off if you use google checkout, if not its still cheaper than an ipod video I think, if not its definatly better, I'm buying one too soon. Never had any problem with my creative products. And look at all the customer reviews too, look it up on amazon look at those reviews, its clearly a much better Mp3 player.

shit, i forgot to post a link!

http://shop4.outpost.com/search?search_ ... submit.y=0

If you dont know what Fry's electronics is, its the best eletronics store out there(InMyOpinion), its cheaper than BestBuy/CircuitCity, the sales people know what theyre talking about, but theres not many out there.

and the web site tends to be cheaper than the actual store.

yah with the creative you can set any of your pictures as the wallpaper, you can also choose between 6 different schemes (text, the select bar) you can password protect video and picture folders (in case you have confidential stuff, it has a built in qwerty keyboard so you can search your zvm, that also lets you name your radio presets as well as seeing the radio station....bottom line, its kick ass

also for anyone getting a zvm buy this if you want it to be scratch resistent, i have one and it my zvm and the skin look brand new, awesome, you don't need the full body skin, but if you want it then go for it i only have the face skin, the screen and the area around it are all that get scratched http://www.bestskinsever.com/servlet/th ... The ipod video's battery life isn't 6 more hrs than the creative zen. The ipod batery life is like 3 hrs(movies r like 2 hrs battery). So unless the creative zen has a battery life of -3hrs, that can't be true. The description of the ipod on the apple website is bullshit.

I just read this article today that said the ipod batterys used to be built into the plastic of the ipod but could be taken out. The newer ipods battery is soldered in so it cant be removed (easily). Something to consider if you get an ipod.

I'm not biased, I have a Zune and an iPod, not because I'm spoiled, I bought the iPod, and my Mom and Dad (The ones I don't live with.) didn't know I had it and bought the Zune. Both are great, and I can't seem to compare them becuase they equal out with their pros and cons. However, I sure as hell can compare to the Creative Zen VM...

I've had one iPod Video returned (Working at Walmart right now.) in the past 4 months, two Zunes, and at least ten Creative Zen V (Various models though, not just the 30GB.)

iPod Pros:
Good video playback.
Thin and surprisingly decent battery life.
Easy controlls.
Supports every format I've tried using on it so far.
Lots of helpful accessories available.
Damn good customer service (In my experiences.).
Better headphones come with it, lol.

iPod Cons:
Lack of color variation.
Old plastic/metal weak case. Needs to be updated like the Nanos are now...
Battery life could be longer, but it lasts as long as I need it to.

Creative Pros:
Cheaper.
Possibly better battery life. (Haven't checked myself, but I've heard stuff.)
More colors.
Comparible video display. Depends on what you're watching really.
Easy set up, supports many many formats.

Creative Cons:
Thick... and not smooth or sleek, at all... I hate the feel in my pocket.
Bad customer support. Helping people with their warranties is a bitch.
If you drop it, you're lucky to use it again, drop it again, you're screwed...
Non fluent controls.
Almost no accesseries. Harder to set up in your car, home, bedroom, etc.
iPod has better headphones too.

Zune... has a bigger screen and all... and wireless sharing... but the odds of running into someone you know, that has a Zune, and has content you want, and is willing to share it... yeah... I like my Zune, I do. But I use my iPod alot more than the Zune. Zune does have better video playback for sure, especially with the bigger screen, so I mainly use it for that. I guess I'm just more used to iPod controlls so maybe that's why I don't use my Zune as much.

I say, out of Creative and iPod, get the iPod. But I guess it's just what you're going to use it for really.

Edit: Forgot about the FM radio... But honestly, what's the point if you already have the music on your iPod/Creative/Zune? It's the most pointless idea for a hard drive based MP3 player... I haven't intentionally listened to the radio in a good 6 months, at least.

I set my iPod up on an MP3 device at work everyday. It doesn't charge my iPod either. On a nine hour shift my iPod has lost only 3/4 of it's battery life. Maybe you should atleast have, or tried the product or atleast look up some facts on it before offering a comment that detailed...
