For the last few months, I've finally found the perfect lacing method for myself, but just for old times sake I decided to "properly" lace my lavers. After playing for about 20 seconds, I found that the shoes fit looser and less snug when correctly laced, upon relacing as tight as humanly possible, I stuck to my first opinion.
Anyone else found this as well?
*edit* and yes they are "nasty" but the lighting makes it look worse, honest

No such things as nasty footbag shoes. Anyway I prefer it less tight... I hate that tight feeling stopping the bloodflow, it really hurts my feet if i dont have my lavers lose enough. I have mine laced like yours and all but sometimes i have to loosen up my laces because of the annoyance.
Although I don't shred in these shoes, I don't really necessarily feel that they feel any different/worse when I lace them regularly. Although at the same time as lacing them regularly, it's still kinda irregular.
For example:
edit: so basically, they're laced like regular shoes, only I skipped two eyelets and started on the third one.

It's like stitching a footbag: the more stitches you have, the more surface area you're covering, the less potential gather you will reserve.
Imagine when you gather a bag with the standard 3/4 stitch to one that has 2/3.

You would get more gather with the latter because you're using those two stitches to supplement for the supposed three. If you gather each tightly, the 2/3 would be much more puffy, and imo won't unravel as much as the 3/4 because you don't have too many obstacles to force that action. That's why, if you tie with the lesser amount of eyelets, it will feel much tighter than with the standard lacing and be much more secure.
At least, that's what I think. Whatever.
